Siân Heder, whose Coda won the Oscar for best picture in 2022, has signed on to direct Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of the best selling novel by Gabrielle Zevin.
Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey and Isaac Klausner will produce via their book-friendly Temple Hill banner.
Described as a modern love story that spans three decades against a video game industry backdrop, the story tells of two friends, Sam and Sadie, who meet as children and reunite as adults, finding stardom in the cutthroat industry.
Per the dust jacket, “Sam and Sadie are brilliant, successful, and rich, but these qualities won’t protect them from their own creative ambitions or the betrayals of their hearts.” The book “examines the multifarious nature of identity, disability, failure, the redemptive possibilities in play, and above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Girls on the Bus Season 1, Episode 8, “Life is a Highway.”] The Girls on the Bus has tackled a number of topical subjects over its run so far on Max, but none more frustrating than journalist Sadie’s (Melissa Benoist) quest to secure abortion pills in the episode, “Life is a Highway.” After discovering she’d become pregnant after a spontaneous hook-up with an on-again-off-again fling, Malcolm, a.k.a. Loafers (Brandon Scott), Sadie’s clock for an abortion began ticking as she opted to go with pills. The trouble with that? She is constantly traveling through different states where laws differ. Due to this metaphorical roadblock, Sadie was forced to cross state lines with the help of conservative reporter Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore) as she went to pick up the mailed pills in a P.O. Box. The only problem? She didn’t make it to the post office in time,...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Life Is a Highway,” the eighth episode of “The Girls on the Bus” Season 1, now streaming on Max.
When Rina Mimoun first produced an episode of television about abortion, she had no idea she’d be doing the same thing more than two decades later. “The Girls on the Bus” showrunner, who worked with Greg Berlanti on the “very special episode” of “Everwood” about women’s rights in 2001, did just that with the eighth episode of the Max series, which debuted on Thursday.
The episode picked up right where they last left off: Sadie (Melissa Benoist) ordered abortion pills to be delivered to her California hotel while on the campaign trail; when they didn’t arrive in time, she was stuck, as the next state on the trip was Missouri — where abortion is illegal. After telling the other women about her dilemma in...

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains light spoilers for Episode 8 of “The Girls on the Bus.”]
On the April 25 episode of Max’s “The Girls on the Bus,” Sadie (Melissa Benoist) had an abortion.
The matter-of-fact decision for the young reporter is only (“only!”) complicated by the all-too-real problem of Sadie’s political journo travel schedule, and the differing rules of which U.S. state she is in when and how to legally ship the needed pills to the correct location.
“It has to be specific, because I was like, ‘They’re not [campaigning in] a Democratic primary in a deep red state,'” co-creator Amy Chozick, whose reporting memoir upon which the show is based, explained about the logistics. “Then, of course, the rules were changing. We literally had a map of the U.S. in the writers room like, ‘Ok, they could be realistically campaigning in Missouri, and it is still legal in Illinois,’ so we were actually moving pieces of...

Eiichiro Oda loves to base his stories on the real world. That’s probably why the betrayals and twists in One Piece feel so much more relatable. Many characters in One Piece are inspired or named after pirates who actually existed in history.
From Eustass Kid to Edward Newgate (Whitebeard) the list of inspired pirates is quite long. In fact, even the beloved swordsman Zoro is a member of the club.
Who inspired Zoro’s Last Name in One Piece? Zoro in One Piece
In a fan question-answer session, Eiichiro Oda revealed that Zoro‘s last name was inspired by the “Most Fierce & Cruel Pirate François l’Olonnais of the Caribbean Sea.”
François l’Olonnais was a French pirate, who was active during the 1660s in the Caribbean. The Japanese translation of l’Olonnois is Roronoa, which served as inspiration for Zoro’s last name.

In the previous episode of The Girls on the Bus, we saw the characters amidst the ups and downs of the excruciating election campaign, struggling with their own personal lives. Grace was having a tough time being a responsible mother, while Kimberlyn could hardly give the time to her fiance with the wedding preparations. Meanwhile, Lola, a self-made journalist, doesn’t know the jargon in the world of journalism, which exposes her to silly misunderstandings like showing up in a swimsuit at the journalists ‘Pool.’ Sadie, on the other hand, is trying to solve the mystery behind the burner phone until she receives an anonymous tip with dirt on Felicity Walker’s campaign.
With Caroline Bennett out of the presidential race, Walker had become the new face. However, Bennett’s scandal didn’t help her cause much. The Geriatric was the new frontrunner now, followed by the ‘Hot White Guy,...

In a world of pretentious politicians and carefully fabricated lies, The Girls on the Bus tells us the story of the reality about elections in the United States. As the four journalists, Sadie, Grace, Kimberlyn, and Lola try to make a name for themselves, they deal with the ups and downs of the world of journalism. All of these women hail from different backgrounds and uphold different political philosophies. Even though their styles of journalism differ from each other, they strike up an unlikely friendship in this world that doesn’t uphold sincerity.

Nickelodeon grew a rep for quietly canceling shows, but this week, they gave advance notice that a popular show will end after 46 episodes. Sometimes, viewers call for shows to get canceled. For example, in 2020 lots of voices rose on Twitter (Now X) and called for the cancelation of Paw Patrol. With the latest cancellation, fans seem a bit unhappy.
Nickelodeon Cancellations And Renewals
Often, shows will just fade quietly away. And other times, new content arrives. Whether it’s the ratings, or just random is sometimes confusing. Instead of canceling Paw Patrol, it ran on and in 2022, another spinoff came that focused on Rubble. Then in 2023, more renewals came with shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Big Nate, and others.
Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Nickelodeon
2024 brought less happy news about Nickelodeon. Quiet On Set: The Dark Side Of Kids TV revealed that a toxic workplace existed there for two decades.

Max’s political dramedy The Girls on the Bus is less about the commonly depicted cutthroat world of politics and more about the unique friendships that can be cultivated in such a high-pressure environment along the way.
The series, based on journalist Amy Chozick’s 2018 memoir Chasing Hillary, follows four female journalists — played by Melissa Benoist, Carla Gugino, Christina Elmore and Natasha Behnam— as they cover the successes and scandals of the presidential primary while on the campaign trail. Though each of the women come from different backgrounds and harbors different opinions from each other on controversial topics and are sometimes in direct competition with each other, they nevertheless find themselves foraging a bond during their travels.
The title of the series, which comes from a singular chapter in Chozick’s book, is a nod to Timothy Crouse’s 1973 book, The Boys on the Bus, which detailed life on the...

The Girls on the Bus is HBO Max’s latest political drama, portraying the lives of four political journalists covering the candidates for the presidential election while trying to make a name for themselves in the process. It is an election year for the United States, which makes this series quite intentional. The Girls on the Bus depicts the expectations of people regarding their ideal candidate and the truth that these people hide under the facade. In a world where politics cannot be any dirtier than it already is, some journalists try to uncover the lies behind the false promises of politicians, while others just pander to the ruling party of the state. Based on Chasing Hilary, a memoir by Amy Chozik, this series doesn’t quite take things seriously, at least yet. The future of their nation seems rather fun and games for these characters, which doesn’t quite...

Inspired by, but definitely not closely adapted from, Amy Chozick’s 2018 book Chasing Hillary, The Girls on the Bus may be on Max, but it’s a throwback to a certain type of broad, big-hearted, semi-topical dramedy that TV fans used to associate with The WB.
As a female-forward workplace buddy comedy with soapy undertones, The Girls on the Bus (Chozick and The Vampire Diaries mastermind Julie Plec are credited as creators) is quite good — the casting is strong, the character dynamics appealing. As a show about journalism, The Girls on the Bus is decent — smart about a lot of things, dumb about others, but not disproportionately. As a political thriller, The Girls on the Bus is mostly a crock.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been doing phenomenal numbers for Disney+ with 110 million hours streamed as of Feb. 7, according to a press release. Zoe Lister-Jones was proud to attend Sunday’s Spirit Awards, and the reason is twofold. First, the multihyphenate talent turned up in Santa Monica to support a pair of nominations for Roku’s Slip, the original series she created, starred in and executive produced alongside a team that includes Dakota Johnson. Reason No. 2: She did so by walking into the event hand-in-hand with a new love in her life.
When the subject of her plus-one came up during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old Lister-Jones responded with a big reveal: “I’m here, I’m queer, I have some fear but I’m working through it.” Lister-Jones is in a new relationship with a fellow filmmaker, Sammi Cohen, who most recently directed Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, the teen comedy starring Adam Sandler and family including wife Jackie and their daughters Sadie and Sunny.

Remakes have always been and will always be a tricky proposition. You could have something as pure and wonderful as 1982’s The Thing, which is objectively better than the revered Howard Hawks and Christian Nyby version, but be trapped in purgatory for way too long before it is decided that its proper and loved. There’s a bunch that are better in different ways or at least thoroughly enjoyable in their own right like John Carpenter’s masterpiece, Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and of course David Cronenberg’s The Fly. While you can argue the horror vs sci fi merits of any of these movies, their quality can’t be disputed. When it comes down to what you can or can’t remake, I think the gloves are off at this point. There’s very few sacred cows left and sometimes a remake can help. Something...
