Tim McGraw isn't playing when it comes to his daughters!
Tim and his wife, Faith Hill, have three daughters together -- Audrey, 15, Maggie, 19, and Gracie, 20 -- and while two are grown and on their own, the couple admitted on Thursday's Tonight Show that they're still protective parents. In fact, when their eldest daughter, Gracie, went on her first date with a new guy, Tim did a background check on the potential suitor.
"We put our secret service guys on it, they checked it out, everything's good," he joked, adding that he asked Gracie to bring the guy by the house the day after their date.
"The next morning we're doing a barbecue. I'm in the kitchen and I forget that he's coming," Tim explained. "I have a white apron on and a knife and I'm trimming meat up, so I've got chunks of meat all over this apron, blood everywhere."

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren aren’t seeing eye-to-eye on baby names for their future son! The 36-year-old Honest Company CEO visited The Tonight Show on Wednesday where she opened up to host Jimmy Fallon about picking out a name for her third child.
Noting that her children all have “H” names that are also words, Alba said, “We’re super stoked. It’s going to be a whole situation. [Cash] was like, ‘We should name it Dick with a silent ‘h.’”
But the former actress wasn’t keen on the idea, saying, “It’s just awful. He thinks it’s old school. I’m like, ‘No, it’s not.’”
When Fallon tried to reason with Warren’s logic, saying, “It could be like an old timey detective,” she jokingly replied, “Don’t encourage him.”

There’s something about Peter Farrelly. The filmmaker, mostly known for feature comedies, is trying out a few new things this year.
Those shifts including separate moves into both television – where Farrelly and his brother Bob have rarely played – and dramatic film. At At&T’s Audience Network, Farrelly is behind the upcoming comedy “Loudermilk,” starring Ron Livingston as a cranky recovering alcoholic.
But Farrelly’s move into TV doesn’t mean he’s turning his back on the big screen. “I’m actually doing a film in the fall with Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali,” Farrelly told an audience at the Atx Television Festival, where “Loudermilk” was screening. “Green Book,” with Oscar winner Ali and Mortensen in the lead roles, is currently being prepped.

The Star Wars anthology movie that follows a young Han Solo is filming right now, and in true Disney form, details for it have been as sparse as ever. Some of the big details we have little to no information on has to do with the ensemble cast. We have known the cast will consist of the likes of Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) for some time, but we have yet to find out much about some of the supporting cast including Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
One of the most intriguing casting choices was Woody Harrelson, who we were told may be playing some kind of mentor to Ehrenreich’s young Solo in the movie, but since then there has been no other details about his character revealed.

"How would you wipe my ass?" is not a question asked at every job interview, but it is in the Netflix adaptation of Jonathan Evison's enthusiastically praised 2012 novel, The Revised Fundamentals of Caring.
The Boston Globe critic, in fact, raved that the book reminded him of "Little Miss Sunshine meets Rain Man." The New York Times insisted the work was "infused with a sad rage that makes good comedy great," and the La Weekly added that here was "a literary version of a good grunge song."
Rob Burnett, who served as the executive producer of Late Night with David Letterman for two decades, wrote and directed this celluloid reworking of the tome, apparently a project dear to his heart. While Ben Stiller has been riding the high of promoting Zoolander 2 for the past few weeks, he was majorly disappointed when he saw the "commercial" he recently filmed for the Super Bowl didn't make the cut. Thankfully, when he stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, the talk-show host graciously unveiled Ben's football-themed ad for female Viagra to the masses (yes, you read that right: football-themed ad for female Viagra). "Even though zero women suffer from erectile dysfunction, over 98 percent of women over 30 suffer from another condition called 'not being turned on by their husband anymore,'" Ben reads while lounging on a bed in a football jersey. "Female Viagra helps women get in the mood - and stay in the mood." It's bizarre and hilarious, which is Ben's strong suit. Check it out above, and see his amazing appearance on SNL with Owen Wilson!

In a bit that made you wish The Colbert Report’s version of Stephen Colbert was still around and running in this year’s Republican primary, Stephen Colbert Ben Carsoned his Late Show entrance like a human golden retriever unable to understand verbal commands. Unlike Ben Carson’s actual botched debate entrance, Colbert had to be dragged onstage like a drunk scarecrow. Also unlike Ben Carson’s entrance, Colbert’s entrance didn’t make you shut your eyes in white-hot mortification, only to open them again and again to find Ben Carson still standing there.

Last month, Season 2 of the Starz political drama "Boss," from Lionsgate Television, came out on DVD. But new fans who power through the 10 episodes will discover that, for terminally ill Chicago Mayor Tom Kane (Kelsey Grammer), there is no tomorrow -- in TV terms, that is.
Starz axed the critically acclaimed but low-rated show after two seasons (which ended last October), leaving Kane's story of power and corruption unfinished. Also left hanging was the future of Illinois state treasurer Ben Zajac (Jeff Hephner), who had survived a sex scandal to be elected governor (albeit one in Kane's pocket).
Now back home in New York City -- the series shot in Toronto -- Hephner says he's heard from many "Boss" fans.
"Especially people who are just getting into it," he tells Zap2it, "without the knowledge that it had been canceled. They'll run through Season 1, come up toS eason 2 and then they're like,...

Building on the cult success of Portlandia and the impending debut of cult comedian Marc Maron’s sitcom, IFC announced a development slate of 11 scripted comedies today, which cumulatively show the Network Formerly Known As The Independent Film Channel continuing its efforts to rebrand itself as Alt-Comedy Central.
The network ordered three interesting-on-paper pilots. Garfunkel & Oates stars the titular comedy-folk duo Riki Lindholme and Kate Micucci playing fictionalized versions of themselves. International Plan stars Michael Blieden and Eric Ledgin, a pair of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon writers…who play fictionalized versions of themselves. (In this case, they’re...

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-s.C.) endorsed Elizabeth Colbert Busch Saturday in the race for Sen. Tim Scott's former House seat.
"We know what it's going to take to win that seat," Clyburn said at a union meeting in Hanahan, according to a video taken by Patch. "I'm going to be endorsing Elizabeth Colbert Busch today because I think it's important for us to get a nominee out on the Democratic primary that will have a chance at winning."
Clyburn emphasized Colbert Busch's work with unions in his endorsement. Patch reports:
The Democratic congressman said Colbert Busch in Congress would be the key vote needed to protect workers' rights. Clyburn's District 6 butts against much of District 1, which has been held by Republican for more than 30 years. Colbert Busch is running against Ben Frasier in the Democratic primary for the seat vacated by Sen. Tim Scott following his appointment to the U.

Charleston, S.C. — Elizabeth Colbert Busch remembers watching the funeral of Robert Kennedy on television, with her younger brother Stephen – now the star of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" – sitting in her lap. She said to herself, "Someday, if they let women run for office, I'm going to."
Now, she's making that dream a reality with a run for Congress. And she isn't worried her brother's fame will overshadow her campaign.
"I'm not. I'm so proud of what he is and what he has accomplished," she said in an interview in her campaign office on a busy Charleston street. "But when people see what I have done and they know the work we have done and they know me as a person and a professional, it will be fine."
Colbert said he plans to support his sister, whom the family calls Lulu. But that won't include mentions on his show – unless,...

To commemorate the end of its seven-year run, 30 Rock will soon join The Colbert Report, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Alec Baldwin's Schweddy Balls in the Funny Things Freezer Aisle near you. (Parting is such sweet sorrow, etc.) Ben & Jerry's will announce the flavor at a finale viewing party on Thursday, but if you would rather make educated and super-gross ice-cream guesses, Grub Street has some suggestions right now.

Unexpected double triumph gives Ben Affleck's CIA thriller clear shot at Academy Awards glory
Ben Affleck's Argo has emerged as the surprise late frontrunner for the Academy Award for best film after a shock double triumph at the Screen Actors Guild and Producers Guild awards over the weekend.
The actor-director's dramatisation of the CIA's ingenious rescue of six Us diplomats during the Iran hostage crisis had already recovered from the indignity of the Academy's decision not to nominate Affleck for the best director prize earlier this month with a big win at the Golden Globes a fortnight ago. On Saturday night, Argo took the top gong, the Darryl F Zanuck award for best producer, at the Producers Guild awards (PGA) in Los Angeles, and last night it carried off the prize for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture at the SAGs, also in La.

Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard (or, I'm sorry, "Benjamin Gibbard"… which does, I'll admit, look a lot nicer on an album sleeve) stopped by The Colbert Report last night to talk about his solo album Former Lives (my review) and none of his other interests or hobbies… or the Postal Service reunion that isn't going to happen so stop talking about it.
Though Gibbard sort of blew it during the interview (whoops), he brought a handful of "surprise" guests with him: Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, Superchunk's Jon Wurster and Jamie Edwards (on keyboards) all lent a helping hand on Ben/Aimee duet "Bigger Than Love." As an added web exclusive bonus (as debuted on Pets.com, naturally), Ben even returned to perform a solo rendition of hushed acoustic ballad "I'm Building A Fire." Check it all out below.

First, Merlin is cancelled, now EW reports that the third season of Sherlock will be delayed. New episodes aren't expected to air until late 2013 in the U.K. and 2014 on PBS. This isn't a good week for slashwink fans.
The internet has been abuzz about a vlog featuring Two and a Half Men's Angus T. Jones calling his TV series "filth" and asking viewers to stop watching it. When I first saw the headlines, I was ready to cheer Jones, but it turns out he's offended by the show from a religious conservative perspective (he seems to be one of those people who thinks any entertainment that offends them comes directly from Hell's Ministry of Propaganda), and he made his plea on a vlog with a homophobic past.

Just try and hold back new episodes of Burn Notice

Arrow is getting even hunkier with Ben Browder set to play Ted Gaynor, who was part of the Blackhawk Squadron.
Lifetime's sequel to its breast cancer anthology movie Five just added Jennifer Hudson and Sarah Hyland to the cast.
Did you knew there's a newsletter for the City of Pawnee? I need to figure out a recipe for that pumpkin pie contest.
The Sundance Channel announced that it's developing five scripted series including a drama co-written by Dan Futterman about a transgender man adjusting to his new identity.
USA has ordered a seventh season of Burn Notice. This season will consist of 13 episodes, letting it pass the 100 episodes landmark. That will make Burn Notice only the third show in the network's history to reach 100 episodes.
It's starting to look like fall TV's big storytelling trend is amputation. So far,...

Justin Timberlake is no easy act to follow. The singer/actor is so popular as a Saturday Night Live host — thanks to instantly classic skits (“Omeletteville,” “Single Ladies” ) and viral Digital Shorts (“Motherlover”) — he might as well be named a cast member already. Timberlake worked his magic once again when he hosted the finale of the 36th season of SNL back in May, ending a shaky season on a high note (and by high note, we of course mean this), which earned him yet another Emmy nomination for his work on the series.
Then again, when it comes to hosting SNL,...

There's an interesting situation on late night TV tonight that I can't recall ever seeing before; the same actor is on two shows in one night. Jada Pinkett Smith, who must be promoting her show "Hawthorne" although for the love of god I couldn't tell you why, is on both "Jimmy Fallon" and "Chelsea Lately." As a reasonable person who understands how TV works, I know that all of this is pre-taped and that means that one actor can appear on two shows in one night without somehow conquering the time-space continuum, but I also thought that actors had people to make sure that shit like that didn't happen. Either I was wrong or having a leading role on a TNT series about a take-no-shit nurse with commitment issues just doesn't pay enough for a top shelf publicist. Here's your Monday night TV:

Jennifer Garner brought her girls, Violet and Seraphina, out to the Brentwood Country Mart today. They met up with Jennifer's longtime friend Victor Garber to grab coffee and check out the kid rides. Jennifer's back home in La after taking a quick trip to NYC to promote her fun comedy, Arthur, which hits theaters today. She made the talk show rounds and chatted about filming with her costar, Russell Brand, juggling parenting duties with Ben Affleck, and even played a game of beer pong on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Her husband, Ben, was recently in Turkey scouting locations for a film, though it's another project that's getting all the buzz. Jennifer Garner stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon yesterday and after the two chatted about her kids, husband Ben Affleck, and movie Arthur, he asked her to step onto his famous beer pong court. Jennifer asked for a handicap, since she has never played before, but apparently she didn't need it. Her nanny, who is taking care of the girls while Jennifer is in NYC, gave the actress tips on where to stand behind the ping-pong table, so she easily defeated Jimmy. While Jennifer is premiering and promoting Arthur on the talk show circuit, Ben actually popped up shopping for rugs in Istanbul. View Slideshow ›...
