Thanks to his roles as perhaps Stars Hollow's most unorthodox resident, Kirk Gleason, on "Gilmore Girls" and the sensitive Ravager Kraglin Obfonteri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (where he also served as the on-set stand-in for Rocket Racoon), most people have probably laid their eyes upon Sean Gunn's mug at some point. For a long time, though, he was one of those actors who could pop his head into a major film or TV series, then vanish before you even had time to register whether you recognized that dude from somewhere.
Like his brother, filmmaker James Gunn, Sean Gunn got his start on Troma's B-movie farce "Tromeo and Juliet" in 1996. A few years after that, he scored a small role in a major TV venture, playing the demonic Lucas in the first season of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spinoff "Angel." Four episodes later, Gunn returned to the show,...

Bryan Callen says he is innocent of multiple rape allegations made against him, and the former The Goldbergs actor is suing the husband of one of his accusers to prove it, sort of.
“This lawsuit arises from Defendant Gabriel Tigerman’s ongoing campaign to destroy the livelihood of actor and stand-up comic Bryan Callen through threats, harassment, and intimidation of third parties that dare contract with him,” says the complaint citing intentional interference with contractual relations filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
“Driven by the false allegation that Mr. Callen assaulted his wife over 20 years ago, Mr. Tigerman has sent and continues to send Mr. Callen’s representatives and others direct demands that they cease doing business with him, or else be falsely branded as supporters of sexual assault,” the jury trial seeking paperwork continues (read it here).). “As a direct result of Mr. Tigerman’s vengeful interference, Mr.

As much as I love being part of the Supernatural fandom, I have to admit that I had never been to a convention before this weekend. Fortunately, Creation Entertainment finally organized a Supernatural convention in my hometown of Toronto, so it was only a short trip to attend my very first "con".
I've attended the Supernatural panels at Comic-Con and have interviewed the actors before - in San Diego and during a visit last week to Vancouver (read more here), so I didn't think this experience would be very different. And it wasn't that different from hearing the screaming fans at Comic-Con. It was just a lot more intense. It's one thing to be at a convention with 100,000 people who all enjoy different shows, but there's something far more intensified about being in a room with only a few hundred people who are incredibly passionate about one show. And people...

A slick and clean cut piece of slacker comedy with great production and a fun sound track but sadly lacking in edginess Everybody has to start somewhere and director Monty Miranda and screen writers Spencer Berger and Gabriel Tigerman have more or less started with this. A slacker comedy with a heart, .Skills Like This. is mostly practice for better things to come. Having said that, the film is funny enough, but would be a lot funnier for people who were on some kind of drugs. That is not a compliment. Writer Berger also has one of the three lead parts as Max, along with Brian D. Phelan as buddy Tommy and Gabriel Tigerman as buddy Dave. As...

12.00 Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 In the world of Indie film, the plotless ramble has been a staple for many years now, chiefly because they're suitably cheap and suitably manageable. Dialogue heavy, character driven, they can be set anywhere you like, with whoever you like and about anything you like. And while some are outstanding and others just plain dreadful, most of them at least have the decency to be about something. It's a relatively small, but relatively important detail that seems to have gotten lost somewhere with Skills Like This, which is maddening because it offers a quite unique and intriguing set up that's positively bursting with possibilities.

What if you discover that you were born to steal?
That’s the central premise of Skills Like This, a post-collegiate comedy about finding your place in the world—even if it is criminal. Monty Miranda’s debut film sets itself apart from other noted independent comedies by dropping the indie-cute hip and distances itself from other similar slacker-flicks by infusing a high level of fast-paced rock-and-roll energy. A previous rougher version of the film won the Audience Award at SXSW in 2007, so there's little surprise that its final version is the coolest, funniest movie I saw at this year’s Indiefest.
Screenwriter and star Spencer Berger is Max, a dead-end playwright with a huge Jewfro whose stage play "Onion Dance" is so incomprehensibly bad that his grandfather goes into a coma watching it, raising the question “Can someone see something so shitty that they almost die from it?” Clearly,...
