So you want to talk about the weather? / Oh, no, I didn't think so / So you want to talk about the sports show? / Oh, no, I didn’t think so. That's a perfectly mundane lyric from Heidecker & Wood's "What Else Is New?" the first single off the duo's sophomore album, Some Things Never Stay the Same, set for release on November 12. Heidecker, of course, is Tim Heidecker of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! fame, and the song, like the rest of his work with Davin Wood, blurs the line between parodying and paying homage to cheesy seventies soft rock. Either way, the big Paul Simon–by-way-of–Bruce Springsteen ending is pretty glorious.

Tim & Eric's Tim Heidecker and that show’s composer, Davin Wood, first collaborated as Heidecker & Wood on Starting From Nowhere, an album inspired by 1970s rock songwriters like Warren Zevon, Harry Nilsson, and Boz Scaggs. Since then, Heidecker has released a parody jingle for a Herman Cain compilation, dropped by the home studio of Chicago’s The Earth Is A Man to record an impromptu cover of Bob Dylan’s “All The Tired Horses” to go along with other Dylan spoofs like his Titanic song, and even released a tune about drinking his own urine. But now Heidecker & Woods ...

If you’re seeking clarity on what to expect from Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, then I guess you’ll find it in the full, red-band trailer, in so far as there is much more footage than the Shriiiiiiiim-y teaser that hit the web on Wednesday, and it makes roughly 23 percent more sense. Other than quick cameos by Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, John C. Reilly, Will Forte, and “Chef” Goldblum, easily the highlight* for me is when professional grizzled actor Robert Loggia takes a knife to a poor elderly woman’s hand, sure to be the crowning performance of Loggia’s storied career.

The first teaser trailer for Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie felt like a Happy Madison production directed by David Lynch. Too soon to tell if that’s a good thing… or a great thing! The new poster for the movie, which follows the not-so-dynamic duo after they’ve squandered every last cent of their movie’s billion-dollar budget and are on the run from the shady Schlaaang corporation that backed them, captures the same shroomy vibe. Take a look:
So much to analyze, I don’t know where to start. The matching khaki, black loafer ensemble? The wolfback ride…...

“This is going to be a game changer… in terms of cinema,” blurbs Eric Wareheim at the start of the preview for Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie. Yes, that would be the Eric who also shares top billing in the film’s title. Okay, so it’s not exactly an objective opinion, but it’s Tim & Eric, so it’s sure to be awesome. See the teaser for B$M — including questionably high-budget FX and the lovely lady to the right — below.

Tim Heidecker and Davin Wood’s soft-rock excursion Starting From Nowhere is hardly a full album of “Poke On” or “I Wear My Dad’s Dirty Socks.” (Though there is a song about dads.) Rather, these songs are humorous in the same way unintentionally funny Velveeta-caliber pop tunes are funny. In fact, it isn’t always clear that the emotional bluster of Starting From Nowhere is supposed to be giggle-inducing. The best moments come when Heidecker is willing to fall on his face for love, like when he sings, “I hope there’s a preacher, ’cause I know there’s ...
