Every generation thinks they invented sex, right? Well, whoever invented it in the 90s was doing it very strangely...
Off the back of the international success of Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone was catapulted to movie stardom. Writer Joe Ezterhas enjoyed the fruits of that too, and the pair decided to see if lightning could strike twice. Thus, Ezterhas, under the guidance of producer Robert Evans, put Sliver together, an adaptation of the novel by Ira Levin.
In truth, Sliver should have opened with the song from Muppets Most Wanted. "We're doing a sequel", they joyously sing. "It's more of the same!". And whilst Sliver wasn't Basic Instinct 2 - that cinematic joy would be over a decade away, and at that stage merely a glint in Stan Collymore's eye - there's little doubting that the plan was to recapture what had turned Basic Instinct into a huge hit several years before.

Good news for fans of Ira Levin! The Weinsteins have brought their feature film version of his 1973 Broadway thriller Veronica's Room one step closer to fruition! Read on for the latest details.
From the Press Release
TWC-Dimension announced today that Mark Bomback (The Wolverine, Unstoppable, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes) has signed on to pen Veronica's Room, a big-screen adaptation of author Ira Levin's (Rosemary's Baby, The Stepford Wives, Deathtrap) 1973 Broadway thriller.
Bomback did production re-writes on 50 Shades Of Grey, and his script Art Of Racing In The Rain is currently in development at Universal.
The dark tale of Veronica's Room explores the thin line between fantasy and reality. Students Susan and Larry find themselves enticed to an old New England mansion by its caretakers to meet the sole surviving member of the family. They insist that Susan bears a striking resemblance to Veronica, the family member's long-dead sister.

Just in time for Halloween! Independent Lit manager, Hollywood Hustler, and all around nice gal Miss Kailey Alexis Marsh has just dropped the annual Blood List!
The Blood List is the top 13 most liked, unproduced dark genre screenplays of the year, released annually on Halloween. This is the 5th anniversary. Over 100 feature film executives vote on their top 3 favorite dark genre (horror, sci-fi, thriller) screenplays of the year. Seventy-seven of them earned votes, with screenplays requiring a minimum of four votes in order to make the final cut. I’m looking forward to reading some of these. Patrol and Family Vacation seem to be scripts that are in my wheelhouse. Coming in at number one is Ink and Bone, Zak Olkewicz’s horror spec script about a writer held hostage by his own creations that Dimension purchased earlier this year according to Deadline. Meet the 2013 class of The Blood List:...
