The success of TLC’s show Sister Wives has given millions of people a view into the real-life workings of a polygamist family. And on Friday afternoon, patriarch Kody Brown and his Sister Wives family brought the cameras with them as they rallied to make plural marriage legal.
Gathering on the steps of the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City, the reality stars joined hundreds of others polygamous people and supporters in protest of a bill that would keep polygamy a felony in Utah.
“I’m a father, a husband, and a lover, Not a felon,” read a sign held by Brown.

A federal judge heard arguments on whether Utah can prohibit plural marriage but issued no immediate ruling in a lawsuit by the stars of the reality show Sister Wives.
Kody Brown and his four wives claim the law is unconstitutional. The family fled Utah for Las Vegas last year under the threat of prosecution. They did not attend Thursday’s hearing in Salt Lake City, leaving arguments to a constitutional law professor.
“The Browns wanted to show people that a plural family is not a monstrosity,” said Jonathan Turley of The George Washington University. “They don’t commit collateral problems.

TLC confirms we haven’t seen the last of Kody Brown and his polygamist princesses.
Kody Brown has four wives, and pretty soon, his hit show Sister Wives will have four seasons! TLC confirms to HollywoodLife.com that the series, which aired its third season finale Jan. 1, will be back for another season, though a premiere date has yet to be determined.
Sister Wives‘ third season was arguably its most dramatic one yet, especially when it came to Kody’s relationship with his first wife, Meri. He practically demanded that she give him another baby — 17 kids is clearly not enough for him — and he wanted to give Meri the first opportunity to grow the family.
“We just can’t keep going in these circles,” Kody told Meri during one particularly heated argument. “You might feel different when we’re in our new homes. I know it’s hard.”

There was a time when "obey" was a part of most women's wedding vows, but that time is not now. Still, when Kody Brown got a little tired during a road trip on "Sister Wives," he threw that expectation out there. Needless to say, it didn't go over all that well.
"I think that word, ‘obey,’ is in fact a four-letter word," his wife, Christine, told him. "For you to just throw out, 'I think you should obey me,' ... that’s offensive."
Kody explained it away as him being cranky from the long drive. "When I’m really grumpy it’s hard to sit here and try to sell everybody," he said. "'Can we all leave at the same time right now? Would that be Ok with all of you?'"
Long nights of driving can be exhausting, but it's probably unlikely that Kody will be dropping that four-letter word any time soon,...

Kody Says He's Having More Kids Meri, 41, Kody's wife #1, has been dragging her feet deciding whether to try again to have another baby using wife Robyn, wife #4, as her surrogate. Robyn made the generous offer to Meri several months ago in hopes of making Meri a mother again. Meri has been tormented by infertility since giving birth to daughter Mariah, now 17. But Meri, after crying for years over her infertility, has now been in tears again because she can't decided whether she actually wants another baby. It...

One of the things that Kody Brown has enjoyed about his polygamist lifestyle is the large family he has. But while he's had seventeen children across four wives, his first wife Meri has only been able to have one, and she's wrapping up high school. So, on the latest "Sister Wives," Kody again brought up the discussion of trying for another baby. As he explained, the clock is ticking.
Fourth wife Robyn, who recently had a baby of her own, offered to be the surrogate for Meri, but Meri wasn't sure she wanted to jump back into babyhood. But then her teen daughter, Mariah, started putting pressure on her. She told her mother that while she loved her half-siblings, she'd always wanted a full-blooded brother or sister. She even said she prayed about it all the time.
It was a lot of pressure for Meri, who insisted she needed time to think about it.

Is it fair that Meri gets sent on a major guilt trip to have another baby, by her own teen daughter, Mariah? Mariah really knows how to turn on Meri's tears with baby pressure! Sister Wives Kody Brown already has 17 kids with four wives Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn. But that doesn't stop him from telling us that he wants to be a father again. Meri Gets Guilt Tripped When he announces that on last night's, Nov. 18, premiere episode of Sister Wives, he only adds to the guilt trip that Meri's daughter Mariah, 17, has just sent her on. It hardly seems fair that Kody puts the pressure on, especially when his newest baby, Solomon, by fourth wife Robyn, is only five months old and little daughter Truely, by third wife Christine, is only two. But that doesn't stop polygamist and presumably still unemployed dad Kody from not adding his own...

When "Sister Wives" returns to TLC on Sunday, the show featuring the controversial polygamist Mormon family will be broadcast from Las Vegas instead of Utah.
"I love Vegas -- it's my new home town! But I miss the four seasons," Jenelle Brown told The Huffington Post.
"Vegas has been good to us. I miss our friends and our religious community in Utah," added her husband, Kody Brown.
But the Browns are also having trouble setting up shop in Vegas. Discussing how difficult it can be to get even one mortgage these days, the family members also revealed how hard it is to get the money to build four homes next to one another on a piece of land they found in Vegas.
“We all have credit issues we're working on. We're working together as a team to fix those issues in order to qualify for the home loans ," said Kody,...

Salt Lake City — Kody Brown and his four wives want what any family wants, to live in the privacy of their own home free from government intrusion, and out from under the threat of criminal prosecution for – as they see it – just loving each other.
The polygamous family, stars of the TLC show "Sister Wives," has sued Utah and the county they fled from, hoping to persuade a federal judge to overturn the state's bigamy law as unconstitutional.
The case could potentially decriminalize a way of life for tens of thousands of self-described Mormon fundamentalists, most of whom live in Utah where bigamy is a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
The state, meanwhile, has publicly said it won't prosecute consenting adult polygamists unless there are other crimes involved, but insists the law doesn't overreach.
"It is not protected under religious freedom because states have the right to regulate marriage,...

Kris Jenner - after watching you get ready to cheat on Bruce Jenner, nastily diss Kim Kardashian's marriage to Kris Humphries and slam daughter Kourtney over her marital indecision, it's clear that the polygamous sister wives are more committed to marriage than you have ever been! Kris Jenner - the four sister wives have never ever cheated on their husband, Kody Brown, they've never publicly dissed the relationships their children have with their boyfriends and girlfriends, and they've never even suggested that their kids have televised "fairytale" weddings. If anything, they are serious to the extreme about their individual marriages with Kody and are constantly working on them, to the point of having marriage counseling to improve those relationships. Plus, none of the sister wives have ever been filmed flaunting their sexuality, shaking their booties or flashing their thighs to the song "Hypnotize," in homemade videos that they released on Twitter.

Don't read this Kody Brown. You and your four sister wives will be disappointed that despite your example, most of your teens including oldest sons Logan and Hunter have no intention of being polygamists. I have to hand it to Kody Brown and his four sister wives. Despite their devotion to a polygamous marriage and lifestyle, they don't plan to try and force their 17 children into plural marriages like theirs. "They have to make their own decisions," explains Kody. "but I have to push them the way I think." Well, that's good because Kody's teens clearly love their gigantic family, four moms and their dad and if any of their parents tried to force polygamy down their throats, they'd only alienate Logan, 18, Hunter, 15, Madison, 16, Aspyn, 17, and Mariah, 17. "From my point of view I had a great childhood and polygamy can be good... but I have no spiritual testimony of it...

Robyn made her extraordinary confession under the grilling of Natalie Morales during the 'Sister Wives Tell-All Special' on June 24. If Sister Wives star Kody Brown decides to add a fifth wife to his polygamist marriage, that'll be just fine by fourth wife Robyn, she revealed during the family's Tell-All Special. "That's Ok if Kody chooses a fifth wife," admits Robyn, the mother of Kody's 17th child - baby Solomon. "I signed on for that." Interestingly, none of Kody's other three wives piped up to second that feeling. Not surprising, considering the jealousy and drama that's filled the Brown family's polygamist marriage, we learned on the show last night. Not that any Sister Wives followers would really be surprised. I mean, how could you not have huge drama and intense jealousy when one man is married to four different women at the same time? It turns out that wives No. 1 and No.

Christine further admitted that she'd hoped that Meri would never have children, because she wanted the fact that she'd fathered children with Kody to be a special thing for her and her alone. She also thought or Robyn as an enemy at one time. So while they've all agreed to...

Poor Meri, Kody Brown's first wife has been so tormented by infertility that she can't bare the thought of finally trying in vitro fertilization even though she'd love to bear another baby. Every woman who has suffered the agony of infertility can identify with Sister Wives' Kody Brown's first wife, Meri. Meri has only been able to give birth to one daughter, Mariah, 17, and has suffered multiple miscarriages, in her quest to produce more children for Kody. Meanwhile, she has watched wives #2 and #3, Janelle and Christine, give birth to six children each, while fourth wife, Robyn, quickly got pregnant and gave birth to Kody's 17th child, Solomon. Now Robyn has offered to be a surrogate for Meri, and Kody takes Meri away to Mexico for their anniversary (God knows how he can afford this) and he presses her for an answer. Sister Wives has recently documented Kody Brown and first wife Meri's struggles to get pregnant, including Meri's revelation of a heartbreaking miscarriage. In a new preview for this weekend's episode, it appears this is still bringing the two some heartache. Kody and Meri are enjoying a tropical getaway, but the tears begin to fall when conversation switches to the topic of Kody's fourth wife Robyn's offer to serve as their surrogate. "This freaks me out to go through all that again, and I don’t know if I wanna do that at this point in my life," Meri says. "I'm feel like I'm too young to [go through having an] empty nest, but I'm too old to start a family." "It's Ok: Whatever you wanna do," Kody tells her, reassuringly.
