Ryan Murphy and husband David Miller, Netflix’s Bela Bajaria and her husband Doug Prochilo, Greg Berlanti and Robbie Rogers, and Joel and Sarah Mchale are among the Hollywood names who work with art adviser Joe Sheftel in building their art collections. “Joe has been great in helping us focus and translate our passions into visual arts, while also teaching us a great deal about market trends. We’ve discovered artists’ works both historical and current that our whole family is inspired by every day,” say Berlanti and Rogers, in a joint email to THR.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the New York-based Sheftel — who operated an art gallery on the Lower East Side from 2012 to 2015 — talks current trends in art, what is special about working with industry clients and his advice on navigating the Frieze Los Angeles art fair, which runs Feb. 16 to 19.

Exclusive: Senator Kamala Harris has long been tight with Hollywood, and yesterday Tinseltown’s biggest donors handed over some very big bucks to the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee.
In a virtual fundraiser put together by Ryan Murphy, Disney TV Studios boss Dana Walden, PR ace Chrisette Hudlin and Laura Shell, California’s junior senator raked in over $8 million for her and Joe Biden’s poll leading White House bid.
Announced on August 27, the event put dough in the purse of the Biden Victory Fund, a joint committee of Joe Biden’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state parties. Going into the final 59 days before the election, yesterday’s fundraiser is one of the biggest hauls that Biden and his running mate Harris has raised this season. Featuring both ex-vp Biden and Sen. Harris, a Jeffrey Katzenberg and George Clooney co-hosted virtual Hollywood fundraiser on August 21 raised $7 million for the Biden Victory Fund.

NBC is all in the family. According to Deadline, the network is developing a multi-camera family comedy titled I Love Lakshmi.
Based on the real life experiences of writer Doug Prochilo, the series will follow the ups and downs of couple Danny and Lakshmi who are starting their own family while also dealing with Lakshmi's "meddlesome" Indian parents. Muffy Bolding is a co-writer for the project alongside Prochilo.
This is the second NBC pilot in development that is centered on Indian-Americans. The first, Pre-Madonna, comes from Amy Poehler's Paper Kite Productions and will follow the semi-fictionalized adolescence of filmmaker Nisha Ganatra.
What do you think? Does I Love Lakshmi interest you? Are you glad NBC is developing projects with more diversity?
