Since her debut at the world’s most prestigious fashion event in 2011, Chrissy Teigen has partied the night away at several Met Galas. Many fans expected to see her grace the famous carpet in a boundary-pushing outfit. However, the 38-year-old model took to her Instagram stories on the day of the Met Gala to explain her absence. Wearing a neck brace, Teigen said she injured herself but later walked her statement back, clarifying that she was “never going to the Met this year.”

The reigning queen of period pieces, Keira Knightley, knows a thing or two about historical clothing.
“Lining. Lining is always important,” the Oscar-nominated actress playfully advised on Wednesday at the premiere of her post-wwii drama “Aftermath.” “If you get a lot of itchy stuff always put lining in it. I have learned that from having done a number of these. Now I know, always ask for lining.”
Reflecting on the script that highlights a love triangle in the midst of rebuilding Germany in 1946, Knightley told Variety, “I read it and thought I can’t do another World War II film. And then it just really stuck in my head, and I think it is because what I never realized was that the real triumph of that generation was actually that they managed to rebuild that continent. It was utterly destroyed by that conflict…I thought, God, I never actually thought...

She discussed writing about her life of chronic pain (she’s suffered from sarcoidosis for two decades) and the support she’s received from the fellow actor, who makes an appearance in the book.

Everything she touches turns to gold it seems, and Victoria Beckham told Fern Mallis that she’s pleased with the way things have turned out for her.
During her chat this week, Posh explained, "I've achieved a lot in 41 years and I like how 41 feels. I feel good. I don't like how it sounds too much. It doesn't sound great but you know I’m proud of everything I've achieved. I've got four incredible children, a wonderful life with my husband. I couldn't have done much more in 41 years so I'm okay with it."
As for her rise to fame with Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell as the Spice Girls back in 1994, Victoria declared, "I went to audition -- there were thousands of girls that showed up for the audition and there were queues around the dance studio in London. Victoria Beckham is spilling some hilarious secrets about the Spice Girls! In a Q&A with Fern Mallis at New York City's 92nd St. Y, the posh pop star opened up about how the girl group came about and what their name used to be. "There were thousands of girls that turned up to audition for the group," she recalled. "There were queues around the studio. Everybody sang a pop song. I sang 'Mein Herr' from 'Cabaret,' which was really not the right thing to do, but it was very dramatic." Despite having a rocky audition, she got the gig. But, the group hit a major hiccup when they realized they were competing with a porn site! "In the beginning, we were going to be The Spicy Girls, but then we realized there was a porn site called the Spicy Girls. That wouldn't have been good!" she said.

It used to be that designing for anything but a name brand retailer was looked down upon in the fashion world. Things changed in 2004 when H&M launched their first designer capsule collection with Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld. The collection was a sell-out, as all successive H&M budget collections have also been. Since then, many designers have launched budget versions of their upscale lines, as well as partnered with low budget retailers like Target, Wal-Mart and Kohl's to bring fashion to the mass-market at affordable prices. The latest frontier in designer deals isn't the brick and mortar stores, but the combination of TV programming and online shopping. Enter QVC, the worldwide home shopping into the fashion fray. The shopping behemoth has long sold established designers like Marc Bouwer and Isaac Mizrahi. For Spring 2012, they signed more designers including Geren Ford, Cynthia Vincent, Rachel Pally, Fern Mallis and Karen Zambois.

The air was thick with woody smoke from nearby torches as guests found themselves in a heady environment of mysterious beauty, surrounded by performers and otherworldly sounds that seemed to echo from every direction. Walking toward the Watermill Center, benefit chair Lisa Anastos and Patrick McMullan encountered white gorillas performing glacially paced movements and handing out leaves doused in Loc Dong’s heady Paradiso perfume. Good-bye to all that. Ashley Olsen and Tommy Hilfiger. Walking into Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall 2010 Collection, the last fashion show ever at Bryant Park, I immediately spotted Fern Mallis in a black-sequin hoodie. “It’s spooky,” said the Godmother of Fashion Week, who brought the shows to the park in 1993. “I am very proud of what we accomplished,” she added. Nostalgia filled the air to the tune of Cats in the Cradle and Only Love Can Break Your Heart as guests filed into their seats. At one point, Sweet Caroline was muted so that the pit of photographers, orchestrated by Mallis, could sing “Bah, bah, bah!” at the top of their lungs. Unable to see the front row, I wondered who could possibly attract so many scrambling photographers. When the sea of bodies finally parted, it made sense: two Gossip Girl guys + one movie star + one television star+ one Olsen twin = total chaos.

It's no secret the "Jersey Shore" cast has been creepin' for front row seats at New York Fashion Week. There's even buzz that they'll get the chance to actually walk a runway.
While show fans may be beating down the beat over the news, actual fashionistas doubt "Shore" style should be associated with the uber-haute event.
That's scary," Fern Mallis, Fashion Week's alpha-female, told New York Magazine after they informed her that "Shore" fashion was catching on. "Hard to use fashion in the same sentence with that."
Mallis' comment was actually tame compared to what other fashion insiders are saying.
"It's a nightmare," an unnamed fashion publicist responsible for seating at shows told StyleList. "Nobody wants any of those kids anywhere near their brand."
Another source put it pretty succinctly: "They're [expletive] peasants." Meow.

I should've paid closer attention to The Fashion Show's official website--while I knew judge Fern Mallis was blogging (somehow) her thoughts on what transpired on the past episodes, I didn't think they'd play so crucial a role until now. And by that, I mean a slight elaboration on the results of last week's episode, where the final four designers showed their collections to a wider audience, especially since it all goes down to a popular vote--and proceeds to eliminate Reco from that poll for reasons I actually couldn't understand much.
So we shall begin quoting Fern right now. Her latest bit had her talk about what she thought of the final four collections, and in a nutshell, they all did "an admirable job, some more than others."...

Bravo's new "The Fashion Show" is on tonight, Thursday, July 9 at 10 p.m. "The Fashion Show" features popular designer Isaac Mizrahi, singer Kelly Rowland and Img Fashion Vice President Fern Mallis, a fixture of New York's Fashion Week, for this hit reality show. Each week a winning garment will be manufactured and sold to the public via an online store; all the designers are professionals; and the winner at the end of the season will have his or her own line available at retail. For their Mini Challenge this week, the designers must put forth their best efforts at creating a uniquely draped dress using just one piece of fabric and 12 pins. For their...

Bravo's The Fashion Show has enough episodes under its belt now that I think I can truly appreciate Project Runway. How a show managed to get me to the point of actually missing Tim Gunn & co. I'll never know, but the laughably similar Fashion Show has pulled it off. It makes you wonder about all those delays in the Project Runway's move, and the little wrinkles in the deal that had to be ironed out. Well, Bravo kept saying they wanted to do a similar show, and that's not going to fly. Finally, Lifetime saw the show, and let it go. You want to put that show on brother, knock yourself out. It goes pretty much without saying that none of these contestants had the slightest hope of getting of Runway, and that's not necessarily a bad thing actually. Runway is getting a little too odd in the direction...

We grew to know and love Fern Mallis, the mastermind behind New York Fashion Week, after she regularly guest starred on Project Runway, advising the top finalists toward their very first (and usually last) fashion week show. But after Project Runway was caught in programming limbo, as the Weinsteins tried to move their hot reality property over to Lifetime, Bravo decided to step up to the plate and create their own show, The Fashion Show. The casts are very similar. Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi hosts, while Fern Mallis plays a judge, replacing Tim Gunn and PR regular Michael Kors. And Kelly Rowland was tapped to play Heidi Klum, minus the German catchphrases. We caught up with Mallis at the W New York Upfronts gifting suite, where the new TV star was enjoying some of the perks that come along with the...

Bravo has sent over teaser video for Isaac Mizrahi's new reality series. Fifteen professional designers are competing in this fashion creative competition series for a chance to have their designs sold in the retail market and win a $125,000 prize. Designer Isaac Mizrahi shares hosting duties with four-time Grammy Award-winning performer and actress Kelly Rowland. Mizrahi and Rowland will also serve as judges alongside fashion luminary and Senior Vice President of Img Fashion, Fern Mallis. Tonight on "The Fashion Show", the designers are shocked to find that Kristin has left the competition after only the first challenge, but they must keep up morale when they find out that they will be working in the same teams as last week.

Memo to Lifetime: Whatever you're paying Tim Gunn for Project Runway, double it. No, triple it. Trust me, he's worth it.
At least that's what I keep thinking after watching the first episode of The Fashion Show, Bravo's knock-off of Project Runway, their flagship show which the network lost to Lifetime after a long legal battle.
I get why Bravo wanted to replace their hugely popular franchise; I just don't get why they didn't execute it more smartly or reinvent it somehow. In the premiere episode, everything plays out pretty much exactly as you'd expect with the usual challenges, the collection of variously eccentric designers, the runway competition, and the judges parked in their chairs as they pass judgment on the clothes.
There are a few differences, not that they really add much.
Borrowing from Top Chef, each episode opens with a "quickfire" challenge before proceeding onto the main event.

Without so much as a cool sorbet to cleanse our runway palates (unless that Millionaire Matchmaker woman is supposed to scare us into forgetting), Bravo is already serving up a new fashion-focused reality show to fill the gap left by Project Runway.
The Fashion Show takes fifteen designers (try not to say it in your best Heidi Klum voice, just try!) compete for the chance to have their fashions sold in the retail market, as well as a $125,000 cash prize, with the winner to be determined by out host and judge Isaac Mizrahi, former Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland, and fashion industry bigwig director Fern Mallis.
Big shocker, there's a bunch of gay guys in the bunch, one of whom is already a gay reality show staple. Meet them all below, as well as our theories as to their signature styles!
The fine folks at Bravo have confirmed that all but...

Bravo's upcoming reality competition series has tapped fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi as its host. "Fashion Show" will be the cable network's solution while legal issues for its popular "Project Runway" are still on.
Mizrahi, 47, will be joined by former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland as co-host. Fern Mallis, who is a prominent fixture on the industry, will join the duo in the judging panel.
According to TVGuide.com, the series will follow professional designers competing for the chance to have their designs sold for the mass retail market.
Though unlike "Runway," the designers' fate on the show will not only be determined by the judges but by the studio audience as well.

What Recession? In response to recent rumors that Fashion Week would not go on due to the recession, Mercedes Benz -Fashion Week released an official line up of designers showcasing their collection. President of Img fashion Fern Mallis said, “We are very proud and supportive of all the designers who continue to understand the power of the runway, the effectiveness of producing a first-class, top notch show is the best marketing tool a designer has in this climate, and we look forward to working closely with each designer to maximize this opportunity.” Fashion week runs the course of 8...

Socialite Janice Dickinson has been told to stay away from all events staged by model talent agency Img after reportedly causing chaos at a Los Angeles Fashion Week show Monday night. The former model-turned-TV personality refused to take her allocated seat at the Ed Hardy fashion show at Smashbox Studios and, instead, insisted on taking the seat belonging to fashion week organizer Fern Mallis at the edge of the catwalk. She only agreed to move when Smashbox co-creator Davis Factor personally reprimanded her. According to website Tmz.com, Dickinson then "caused a scene backstage" when she stuck her foot in a giant tub of ice after claiming a model "broke her toe."...
