“I didn’t think I was going to get that far,” admits Thelma Houston, the legendary Grammy-winning diva who placed third on “The Masked Singer” as Clock. “There have been some other divas out there that we know well that didn’t get quite that far, so I said, ‘Well, as long as I can do as good as they did that would be great.’ To go this far was just a surprise to me. It was one of the most challenging things I have ever done, trust and believe.”

The cast of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is growing by the day! After announcing the additions of John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson, Deadline says Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne is joining the latest iteration of Marvel’s first family. Fantastic Four stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm-Richards, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. There is no indication if the Richards’ children, Valeria and Franklin, will appear in the film. The addition of Natasha Lyonne is already sending Fantastic Four fans into a tizzy with theories about who she could play in the film.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman is directing Fantastic Four from a script by Ric Pearson, Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer. Plot details are sparse, though we know Julia Garner is playing Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics.

Every actor has a few films that might not have performed as well as they wanted, including blockbuster star Denzel Washington. But one box-office disappointment was different from the others, as it may have been a direct result of the O.J. Simpson verdict.
How the O.J. Simpson trial might’ve affected ‘Devil in a Blue Dress’ Denzel Washington | Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagic
Devil in a Blue Dress saw Oscar-winner Washington play Easy Rawlins, a private detective investigating a missing woman. The 1995 movie was based on a series of books that Washington and the film’s director Carl Franklin were interested in at the time. The fact that the film was about a black investigator in the 1940s added another layer to Franklin’s noir film for him to play with.
“It gives you another obstacle,” Franklin said in an interview with Slate. “Of course, obstacles are the key to drama.

X-Men comics have always been about the future. They are, after all, stories about mutants, the next stage in human evolution. The central tension dividing Professor Charles Xavier and his best friend Magneto is how to go into that future, either working with humanity or ruling them.
X-Men comics have also always been very, very confusing, with their frequent tales of clones, shape-changers, and alternate realities.
Given those two facts, it’s no wonder that X-Men creators would embrace time travel as a storytelling conceit, throwing Marvel’s Merry Band of Mutants far into the future or launching them deep into the past. The results vary, but these fifteen tales represent the best, and sometimes most headache inducing, of the X-Men’s adventures across time.

The 1990 crossover Days of Future Present is only half an X-Men story, as Franklin Richards is the main character.

X-men Editor Sheds New Light On Why Jonathan Hickman Abandoned The Krokoa Age After Relaunching Team
Secret Wars writer Jonathan Hickman rebooted the X-Men in 2019 with House of X and Powers of X, two titles which saw the mutants figure out immortality and create a new base on the island of Krakoa.
The game-changing storyline completely changed the role of mutants in the Marvel Universe and is set to wrap up this summer, roughly five years after it began. However, Hickman left the X-Men line much sooner than any of us expected, meaning we never got to see his full vision for the heroes.
Talking to Aipt about the "Krakoa Age," X-Men Senior Editor Jordan D. White admitted that much of what Hickman hoped to do with the team quickly proved to be off-limits to him.
"There were plans to use [Namor] - that’s why Jonathan set things up," he explains. "He fully intended to use him in probably a few different places. But that’s...

The Marvel fans could not get any more excited at the news because he is one of the most iconic characters in the Marvel comic book universe.
Galactus in Marvel comic books
Even though fans are excited to witness the character’s debut, the cosmic being can overpower the strongest of heroes with ease. As a result, his addition would make him a bigger threat than any other villain. However, the debut can turn into a major disaster as a scooper has shed some light on the potential plot of the film, and fans are not delighted with it.

Joaquin Phoenix is coming back soon as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux. While it won’t be the first superhero musical, it certainly is one of its kind in recent years. Starring Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn, the movie is expected to be filled with several memorable scenes, both entertaining and grotesque, apart from several songs.

After a disastrous 2023 for the DC brand, Warner Bros. hopes to deliver at least one hit comic book movie this year with Joker: Folie à Deux.
2019's Joker grossed over $1 billion on a modest $55 million budget. However, with reports swirling that the sequel cost upwards of $200 million, the studio will surely be hoping it hasn't allowed filmmaker Todd Phillips to indulge too much with this follow-up. After all, musicals are a tough sell at the best of times and comic book adaptations have struggled greatly post-covid.
We'll see what happens, but when the first teaser trailer dropped last month, one of the biggest surprises was an appearance from British actor and filmmaker Steve Coogan.
Best known in the UK for portraying comedy icon Alan Partridge, his film and television credits include Hot Fuzz, Tropic Thunder, Minions, the Night at the Museum franchise, Happyish, and The Reckoning.

If you're at all familiar with Marvel's First Family, then you'll know they've had to stop Galactus from consuming Earth on countless occasions. However, in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four, it appears the World-Eater will have a very different reason for visiting the planet.
Undeterred by Disney and Marvel taking legal action to discover their identity, scooper @CanWeGetToast has shared a rumour today claiming that Galactus comes to Earth in search of Franklin Richards (who is reportedly "born in space").
The son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, Franklin is an incredibly powerful mutant with the ability to create new realities and even rewrite his own.
He has a complicated history with Galactus which has included him actually taking the villain's place in the "Earth X" reality and making the big bad his Herald back on Earth-616 to fend off a Celestial attack. We don't know which comics The Fantastic Four is pulling inspiration from,...

Michael Douglas has starred in some of the most iconic erotic thrillers ever made, from “Basic Instinct” to “Fatal Attraction,” so he knows a thing or two about crafting a memorable movie sex scene. In a new interview with The Telegraph, the actor gave his honest opinion about intimacy coordinators becoming the new normal in Hollywood when it comes to filming intimate moments on set.
“I’m past the age where I’ve got to worry about that. But it’s interesting with all the intimacy coordinators,” Douglas said when the topic of sex scenes came up during the interview. “It feels like executives taking control away from filmmakers — but there have been some terrible faux pas and harassment.”
“Sex scenes are like fight scenes, it’s all choreographed,” Douglas continued. “In my experience, you take responsibility as the man to make sure the woman is comfortable, you talk it through.

Michael Douglas is joining the on-going discussion about the use of intimacy coordinators on set, terming them another tool employed by Hollywood executives to limit their filmmakers. The “Basic Instinct” and “Fatal Attraction” icon told the Radio Times during a recent interview (via The Telegraph) that the role of intimacy coordinators “feels like executives taking control away from filmmakers” on set.

Remember the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin from our childhood? The one where a piper came to rid the town of rats by playing his magical tunes, luring the pests away into the lake? But when he wasn’t paid as promised, he took away the children as revenge. Classic folklore, right? But what if I told you that legend has it that the Pied Piper isn’t just a story of the past? He still lurks among us. Not in bright, colorful clothes, but as a dark and ominous creature, playing his haunting musical hymns in a sinister manner. In the movie The Piper, directed by Erlingur Thoroddsen, the story goes like this: Catherine, inspired by the legend of the Pied Piper, creates a concerto for children. But when the tunes from her concerto lead to tragic consequences, causing the deaths of children, she tries to destroy them.

Tyler Perry and Netflix are expanding their creative partnership. Fresh off his most recent film Mea Culpa, the multihyphenate has signed a new deal alongside producer DeVon Franklin (last year’s Oscar-nominated Flamin’ Hot) to produce faith-based films that will stream exclusively on Netflix. The first in the new arrangement will be R&b, a modern-day retelling of the iconic biblical love story of Ruth and Boaz.

Netflix believes in the power of faith-based film… and in the power of Tyler Perry.

Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin (Miracles From Heaven) are getting into business with Netflix to make faith-based movies together.
The first film under their new partnership will be R&b, written by Mike Elliott (Brown Sugar) and Cory Tynan, and described as a modern-day retelling of the story of Ruth and Boaz, an iconic Biblical love story. Set in Tennessee, R&b follows a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman, only to the love of her life and gain the mother she never had.
The partnership between Tyler Perry Studios and Franklin comprises a multi-year and multi-picture first-look deal. “I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects. I think in this polarizing world, and at a time where the world seems to be growing colder everyday, we both share the common goal of wanting to spread some good.

The Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud continues to escalate after the Canadian rapper released “The Heart Part 6,” a new diss track Sunday night that pushed back against some of the sexual predator allegations made by Lamar in a series of songs released over the last week.
The biggest rap feud in years has increasingly become vitriolic and personal, and has seen both Drake and Lamar throw unsubstantiated allegations at each other. Among them, Drake has accused Lamar of physically abusing his partner, and Lamar suggested Drake has a hidden love child. In his last few tracks, Lamar has focused on allegations that Drake is a sexual predator, and in the song “Meet the Grahams,” which was released May 3, he directly accuses Drake of harboring “sex offenders” at his label Ovo and even calls his rival a “pervert” for his alleged interest in younger women. Michael Douglas is in terrific form as Benjamin Franklin in Apple TV’s new historical limited series “Franklin” but he isn’t the only actor to emerge with awards whispers whizzing through the air. Veteran actor Eddie Marsan features in a key supporting role as John Adams and delivers one of the finest performances of his career while also shining a new light onto a man that many actors have depicted before.
The limited series follows Franklin’s eight years in France as he tried to persuade King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to join the colonies’ cause and aid them in the American Revolutionary War. The scenes between Douglas and Marsan are nothing short of spectacular and Marsan nails his performance as Adams, as noted by critics.
Clint Worthington (Roger Ebert) noted: “Marsan’s energy as Adams is decidedly different from Paul Giamatti’s in Ellis’ original 2008 miniseries—“Franklin” feels...

Out in front is “Fargo” star and former drama lead winner Jon Hamm, who could also pick up dual supporting bids this year for the comedy and drama series “Good Omens” and “The Morning Show.”
Hamm would be the first actor to win this award for “Fargo,” following the unsuccessful bids of inaugural season cast members Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton and third season lead Ewan McGregor. As the star of “A Gentleman in Moscow,” McGregor happens to be seeking a second win in this category after being honored for “Halston” in 2021.
Others vying for bookend trophies here are Michael Douglas (“Franklin”; formerly of “Behind the Candelabra”) and Benedict Cumberbatch (“Eric”; “Sherlock”). Also in the mix is Tony Shalhoub,...

If you were a kid growing up in the ’80s, one thing was true. Video games were the spawn of Satan. Okay, we know that isn’t true. But our parents? Adults were terrified of your Atari and your Nintendo, and filmmakers made all sorts of movies that painted games in a negative light. In Wargames a nuclear war was damn near started! While there were plenty of films that understood the imagination and the creative spirit that video games could foster, such as Tron and The Last Starfighter for examples, there’s also a film such as Cloak & Dagger, which goes to some really dark territory to teach a lesson to kids that, honestly, everyone could stand to learn.
Cloak and Dagger starred Henry Thomas. Y’know, the E.T. kid (who we recently profiled on Wtf Happened to this Celeb), who grew up to become the Suicide...

Apple TV+ is sure to perform well at this year’s Emmys with a number of shows strongly positioned including “Lessons in Chemistry,” “Sugar,” “Manhunt,” “The New Look,” and “Masters of the Air.” Well, add in another limited series to that mix — the historical drama “Franklin,” starring Oscar-winner Michael Douglas as the titular Benjamin Franklin.
The show chronicles Franklin’s eight years in France, wherein he attempted to convince King Louis XVI (Tom Pezier) to support the colonies in the American Revolutionary War. The series, as you’d expect, features fabulous costumes, sets, and hair and makeup. It is anchored by a powerhouse performance from Douglas, whose take on Franklin is a more modern one. The show is all the more entertaining for it, as noted by critics.

The last time I spoke to Noah Jupe was four years ago when he was just 15 years old. It was over Zoom, and he was promoting HBO’s “The Undoing” from a Detroit hotel room, where he was under mandatory quarantine waiting to be cleared to start work on Steven Soderbergh’s “No Sudden Move.”
At the time, Jupe’s list of credits already included “The Night Manager,” “Suburbicon,” the first two “A Quiet Place” films and “Ford v Ferrari.” He had earned a Spirit Award nomination for his work starring role in “Honey Boy,” director Alma Har’el’s drama loosely based on Shia Labeouf’s childhood.
The British actor is now 19 and I’m meeting him once again over Zoom — this time, he’s in his London-area home — for this week’s “Just for Variety” podcast. He’s promoting Apple TV+’s “Franklin.” The limited series follows Benjamin Franklin,...

Steven Ogg, the actor who played Trevor Philips in GTA 5, has spilled some beans about the canceled GTA 5 story Dlc.
As first reported by The Loadout, Steven was recently part of a live Q&a along with his GTA 5 co-actors Shawn Fonteno aka Franklin and Ned Luke aka Michael. During the session, Luke revealed,
“Originally they were gonna do continuing stories of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.”
To this Ogg added,
“Trevor was gonna be undercover – he works for the feds. And we did shoot some of that stuff with ‘James Bond Trevor’ – he’s still kind of a fuck up, but he’s doing his best to pretend to be like [a secret agent]. We shot some stuff and then it just disappeared and [Rockstar] never did it, they never followed up on it.”
Conversation around the Agent Trevor Dlc began last year when the intel was datamined from GTA 5’s source code.

"Star Trek Beyond" might be the best "Mass Effect" movie we ever get. The shiny Yorktown station, with city sprawls built along the surface of spinning, gravity-manipulating rings, is a dead ringer for the Citadel. The film's villain — Krall (Idris Elba) — leads an army of robots, "The Swarm," much like Saren Arterius employing the cyclopean robot Geth in the first "Mass Effect."
Krall's army destroys the Enterprise in the first act of "Beyond," leaving the crew stranded on planet Altamid. Though Krall made his home on this world, he isn't a native. No, he's really Balthazar Edison, once the (human) captain of the Starfleet ship the U.S.S. Franklin. After the Franklin crashed on Altamid in the 22nd century, rescue from the Federation never came and Edison became disillusioned.
He and his surviving crew found abandoned technology, including his Swarm army and the life-draining devices they've sustained himself with.

Fans lined up in the rain recently at the Linwood Dunn Theatre in Hollywood eager to screen “Franklin,” the new Apple TV+ limited series about Benjamin Franklin’s trip to France in 1776 to try and convince the king to fund America’s fight for independence.
Based on Stacy Schiff’s book, “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America,” the show also spotlights the relationship between Franklin (Michael Douglas) and his grandson Temple (Noah Jupe) Temple, who accompanies his grandfather to France.
Director Tim Van Patten, who steered the ship for all eight episodes, explained during a Q&a following the screening that shooting a period piece in Europe was no easy task, “It was such a beautiful experience, but it was physically daunting.” Carriages were brought in, nearly 500 background actors in full hair, makeup and costume were utilized every day for seven weeks and somehow “everyday was like magic,...

The Fantastic Four are called Marvel’s First Family because, well, they actually are. Back in 1961, the company formerly known as Timely Comics transitioned into Marvel Comics. They kept some of their titles, such as Journey Into Mystery, but began a new approach to superhero comics with The Fantastic Four. These new titles would show the internal drama between the characters and not just their superheroics. After these characters became a big hit, the company created other heroes such as The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and Iron Man.
Fox would end up with the movie rights to bring these characters to the big screen but ultimately would produce content that really didn’t live up to what the comics promised. After four attempts (ironic), the rights have finally reverted back to Marvel Studios through Disney’s purchase of Twentieth Century Studios. Now that the MCU is around, fans are interested in...

Two of America’s founding fathers are fed up. Aside from their shared belief in a bold new experiment called the United States, Benjamin Franklin (Michael Douglas) and John Adams (Eddie Marsan) don’t often see eye to eye, and their conflicting visions have only strayed further during negotiations with France. Adams doesn’t see the point in spending so much time catering to one European king while they’re trying to assert their independence from another. Franklin knows the path to freedom comes with tolls that only the French can pay. But more to the point, he knows the French. He knows their customs, their language, and their comportment. Adams’ attempts to speak French are almost as disastrous as his impatience with their languid dealmaking, and after an unnecessary setback, his co-emissary tries to warn him.
“Your notion of diplomacy will be our undoing,” Franklin says. “America cannot suffer anymore of this slow,...

Walton Goggins is no stranger to meaty roles he can make his own, and now the Emmy-nominated “Justified” actor is sinking his teeth into Amazon’s highly anticipated “Fallout,” an adaptation of the popular video game from “Westworld” duo Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. In the darkly funny post-apocalyptic series, which is now streaming on Prime Video, Goggins pulls double duty as The Ghoul, a disfigured, centuries-old immortal cowboy who’s been stripped of all his humanity, and Cooper Howard, the Hollywood actor he was before the bombs fell. But while Goggins often steals the show — a welcome habit at this point — it’s Ella Purnell’s Lucy who anchors the narrative. Raised in the underground fallout shelters known as Vaults, Lucy travels to the irradiated surface to search for her missing father (Kyle MacLachlan), and she’s shocked to discover a hyper-violent wasteland largely at odds with her inherently optimistic disposition,...

Daniel Mays remembers Michael Douglas and Timothy Van Patten, the respectively star and director of new Apple TV drama Franklin, bursting into song whenever he appeared on set.
It came about because during the Franklin shoot in Paris, director Nicholas Hytner asked Mays to star at London’s Bridge Theatre as good old reliable Nathan Detroit in an immersive production of the classic Broadway fable Guys & Dolls by Frank Loesser, Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling.
Upon hearing this news, Douglas insisted, ”You’re doing it, Danny — no question about it.”
The adaption of Damon Runyon’s tales was Van Patten’s father’s favorite musical, “so then within the hour, more like a whole bloody second, every time I came on set, they kept playing ‘The Oldest Established [Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York], and Michael and Noah Jupe would join in.”
Even the French crew got in the swing of it.
