Actor Michael Weatherly made the transition from NCIS agent to psychologist in the hit series Bull. And although his character was based on a real person, Weatherly looked towards Gary Oldman for inspiration.

Weatherly’s Jason Bull couldn’t have been more different than his NCIS character. He played Jason Bull in the titular CBS series, a character loosely based on celebrity doctor Dr. Phil McGraw. Weatherly spoke to the Dr. Phil host personally, who he thought might’ve been underappreciated by certain audiences.
“People sometimes are very dismissive of Phil McGraw, and I think that’s a sort of narrow take on someone who has a talk show that you’ve watched and think you understand,” Weatherly said in a 2020 interview on Backstage. “I think Phil McGraw is a person worth having a conversation with.

NCIS star Michael Weatherly lasted on the long-running procedural for 13 seasons before leaving the show. Afterward, the actor would star in another network series Bull. However, Bull wasn’t the kind of tv show Weatherly thought he’d ever find himself in again.

Weatherly had a long run on NCIS before deciding to call it quits. There was no controversy involved in his departure. Rather, after so many years of playing Tony Dinozzo, he was ready to do something different. This would lead him towards a completely different series in CBS’ Bull. There, Weatherly played psychologist Jason Bull, who was the head of a consulting firm that would choose juries for high-profile trials.
But initially, Weatherly had no intention of doing a network television series. Although he did want to challenge himself after NCIS,...

CBS bosses have addressed the controversial decision to renew Bull following sexual harassment allegations against star Michael Weatherly and have promised that new procedures will “go beyond what we’ve done in the past”.
The procedural drama was picked up for a fourth season despite the allegations made against Weatherly by Eliza Dushku, which resulted in a $9.5M settlement with the actress.
CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said that following Weatherly’s apology, it wanted to make the renewal decision “through a fresh lens and new eyes.”
“When we were looking at a decision and what to do with Bull, what happened was something that a lot of us didn’t know about. So, when it came time to make a decision, we wanted to look at it through a fresh lens and new eyes. We wanted to reassess and look at what happened,” he said.

As if two jetliners almost colliding in mid-air weren't enough drama, Bull Season 2 Episode 14 ended with Jason Bull fire one of his own.
Unfortunately, I couldn't say that Cable left him much choice.
Cable has always been a bit more naive than the rest of the Tac team. She's clearly the youngest member, and at times appears to live in her own cyber centered world.
Although her friend Sarah pulled at my heartstrings with talk of bringing up her baby without a father, and I loved her quip about having a bat in the bat cave when talking about her pregnancy, it didn't change the fact that Cable was downright gullible to her manipulations.
At first, I was proud of Cable when she went to Bull the next morning and told him how Sarah had "coincidentally" run into her on the street after all of these years.
