Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Filming...

Just a couple days after saw some great images of Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal on the set of the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again – where they reprise the roles of Marvel heroes Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Frank Castle / The Punisher, characters they originally played on shows that were released through the Netflix streaming service (and can now be found on Disney+) – it has been revealed that Daredevil: Born Again has wrapped production. Central Casting broke the news by sharing a picture of Cox at the wrap party.
The show didn’t have an easy ride through production. Filming started in early 2023, then when the strikes hit, it was decided that it needed to undergo a creative overhaul. This overhaul has ensured that this new series is now directly connected to the Daredevil series that ran for three seasons on Netflix. As of the recent Daredevil-related series Echo, all...

Jon Bernthal Returns As The Punisher Alongside Charlie Cox In New ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Set Photos
We’re getting a first look at Jon Bernthal’s return as (a bloody) Frank Castle (aka Punisher) in new set photos of Daredevil: Born Again, the upcoming Marvel/Disney+ series, which is currently filming in New York City. In the new photos, we see Bernthal’s Punisher alongside Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock.
Bernthal first played the Frank Castle role on Netflix’s version of Daredevil, debuting the character during second season in 2016. He then went on to play the titular character for two seasons of Netflix’s The Punisher, which aired from 2017-19.
Daredevil: Born Again follows original star Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney-turned-crimefighting superhero, and also features Vincent D’Onofrio reprising his role as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, along Bernthal’s Punisher.
Daredevil: Born Again also stars Michael Gandolfini, Sandrine Holt and Margarita Levieva.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is officially back in action. New photos taken from the set of "Daredevil: Born Again" have confirmed the return of the actor's version of Frank Castle, who first appeared on the Marvel Netflix shows nearly a decade ago. But five years after "The Punisher" was canceled by the streaming service, Bernthal is reuniting with his old frenemy Matt Murdock (once again played by Charlie Cox).

The above image sees Bernthal looking very much like the Frank Castle fans of the Netflix shows remember -- bloody, jacked, and ready for vengeance on the streets of New York City. You can also see Bernthal and Cox reunited in costume below. Unfortunately, we don't get a great sense of what's going on in the scenes in question, but it certainly looks like they're getting bloody and kicking ass. But are they on friendly terms this time around?...

The Marvel / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production last year – then when the strikes hit, it underwent a creative overhaul that, according to Vincent D’Onofrio (who plays the villainous Kingpin / Wilson Fisk on the show), has ensured that this new series is now directly connected to the Daredevil series that ran for three seasons on the Netflix streaming service. So not only are D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox (who plays Daredevil / Matt Murdock) back in their roles, but so are Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll as Murdock’s associates Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. I often lambast the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the "same old, same old" feeling of its movies and television — so I feel a little hypocritical calling the revival series "Daredevil: Born Again" my most anticipated Marvel project.
"Daredevil" ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015-2018, but was canceled afterward. Like its sister shows, it was a casualty of Marvel and Netflix decoupling from their creative partnership. However, since it was the most consistently acclaimed of the Marvel/Netflix shows and the title character has the biggest built-in audience, "Daredevil" will be born again on Disney+.
As for why I'm excited? "Daredevil" was counterprogramming to the quippy fluff of the MCU movies, with a darker tone and more violence. Plus, what can I say, I'm a fan of the character. If you aren't familiar, Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer blessed with enhanced senses to compensate. At night, he patrols...

Daredevil: Born Again’s Production Update To Cast & Release Date; Here’s Everything We Know!(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil got a second chance when it appeared in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home as the fans appreciated and praised him. After the 2021 MCU film, the fans demanded to bring him back and his version of Matt Murdock. Cox reprised his role again in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Besides Cox’s character’s return, the brutal villain from the Netflix series, Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, also returned in his glorious self in the series Hawkeye. Marvel finally gave what the fans anticipated; they announced plans to revive the Netflix series and titled it Daredevil: Born Again.
The studio reportedly announced it at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, and they described the upcoming series as the fourth season. The show started in 2015 and ran for three seasons.

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has rounded out its revamped creative team with a new showrunner and directors. Dario Scardapane has been tapped as showrunner and directing team Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki) are set to direct the Charlie Cox series, sources confirm to Deadline.
The series has been revamping its creative team after determining the show wasn’t working as is. Head scribes Chris Ord and Matt Corman and episodic directors were let go, but remain EPs on the two-season series. Daredevil, which first aired on Netflix, follows Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney turned crimefighting superhero.
Less than half of the series’ 18 episodes were shot. Marvel plans to keep some footage though the series will pivot from being a procedural show to having a more serialized focus. Scardapone will write the new episodes, incorporating what was already shot, we’re told.

The Disney+ Daredevil reboot will bring back Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Originally set for a Spring 2024 premiere but delayed past that, Born Again has been left searching for new creatives to lead the way behind the camera.

After news broke of Daredevil: Born Again's creative overhaul, series star Vincent D'Onofrio is speaking out.
It was reported earlier this week that Disney and Marvel had let go of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman.
The decision reportedly came after Disney execs screened completed episodes of the series and decided that the show wasn't working in its current form.
D'Onofrio, who is reprising the role of Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk in the series, took to social media to respond to a fan who said the actor's posts celebrating the series had "aged poorly."
"Unless you really know what's going there's a chance you could be wrong about this statement," he responded.
"We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust my friend, trust."

A report earlier this morning revealed major issues with Daredevil: Born Again, with Marvel Studios reportedly choosing to search for new writers and directors to take over the series from scratch. Vincent D’Onofrio, who reprises his role of Wilson Fisk in the new Daredevil series, took to X/Twitter to comment on the news, assuring fans that it would result in the best show possible.
“We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of,” Vincent D’Onofrio said of Daredevil: Born Again. “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production and post. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news. It’s not. It’s simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Vincent D’Onofrio says the reports about Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” undergoing a creative overhaul are not actually a big deal, as such changes are common in the film and television industry. D’Onofrio is reprising his role of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk in the Marvel series opposite Charlie Cox as Daredevil.
“Unless you really know what’s going there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement,” D’Onofrio wrote on X in response to a fan saying one of the actor’s original posts celebrating “Born Again” had “aged poorly” in light of the overhaul news. “We are going to bring forward the best series we can. Marvel dared to do TV differently. Now, it will have to redo “Daredevil: Born Again” from the ground up.
Head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were removed from “Daredevil: Born Again” in late September, IndieWire confirmed, as were all of the directors previously booked to shoot the remainder of Season 1. About half of the 18-episode season is in the can, with some episodes fully shot. Ord and Corman will maintain executive producer credits; THR first reported the news of their dismissal.
Daredevil is the superhero alter ego of blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox); Ord and Corman envisioned the series as a legal procedural. Cox returns to the role he played on Netflix from 2015 to 2018 (the series has been on Disney+ since March 2022), but he didn’t even don the costume until the new show’s fourth episode. Now that’s dedication to a reimagining.

When Marvel Studios took back the rights to the characters that had previously appeared on the Defenders Netflix shows, hopes were high that we were entering a new age of Marvel entertainment on small screens, more closely connected to the MCU. And for a while, especially in the likes of WandaVision, Loki, She-Hulk and others, that seemed to be the case. But now one of the highest-profile projects, Daredevil: Born Again is on the verge of a big creative overhaul even as shooting had already been underway.
Born Again, which will see the full return of Charlie Cox as lawyer Matt Murdock, who moonlights as the titular superhero vigilante and Vincent D'Onofrio as the villainous Kingpin (after they both appeared in other MCU shows/movies), had been under the creative purview of writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman, with production kicking off in New York this past March before the strikes shut it down.

Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series that is being rebooted after the Netflix Daredevil series, is going through some major changes.
Less than half of the episodes had been filmed by the time the WGA and actors’ strikes had began over the summer, and when execs reviewed the footage of the episodes that had been completed… apparently some changes were put into place.
THR is reporting that the show is now undergoing a creative reboot, and Marvel has let go of head writers, Chris Ord and Matt Corman, as well as the rest of the show’s directors.
Now, we are learning about the show’s stars who are returning and who has been replaced.
If you don’t know, Netflix originally aired a Daredevil series for three seasons beginning in 2015. Other Marvel/Netflix shows that aired were The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Defenders.

Just days after it was discovered who Michael Gandolfini would be portraying in the new Marvel Studios revival of the Daredevil series, Daredevil: Born Again, there is a major issue that now plagues the show. After the Hell’s Kitchen hero made a surprising return to the Marvel universe in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it inevitably prepared fans for the continuing story of Matt Murdock. The series has been blanketed under the usual Marvel secrecy. It would pause its production due to the writers’ strike earlier this summer, and the series would have under half of its episodes completed. While the footage was under review during the hiatus, Kevin Feige and the studio had come to the conclusion that, so far, the show just isn’t working.

Will Daredevil: Born Again even see the light of day?
The latest update on the Disney+ series doesn't instill hope that any of the episodes will make it on the air.
According to Variety, head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman have been let go from the series.
Less than half of the series' 18-episode order was shot before the SAG-AFTRA strike, and the remaining directors have also been let go.
The aim, Variety reports, is to take the series in a new creative direction, which means some of the filmed footage will be left on the cutting room floor.
It's interesting to hear that the show hasn't gotten off the ground running because the recent press hasn't been positive.
As you'll recall, Daredevil initially aired on Netflix with Charlie Cox playing the titular superhero.

“Daredevil: Born Again” has parted ways with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman as part of a creative overhaul and is seeking new writers. Ord and Corman will still be credited as executive producers.
Additionally, directors for the remaining episodes of the series have also been released, with a search for replacements underway. Less than half of the show’s 18-episode order has been shot after production was paused due to the Writers’ Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

"Daredevil: Born Again" is in big trouble. The highly anticipated Marvel Studios show, which promises to bring back The Devil of Hell's Kitchen (and supposedly also Punisher), is undergoing a huge revamp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, less than half of the show's 18 episodes had been shot by the time "Born Again" paused production during the writers' strike, but the footage available made Kevin Feige and other Marvel executives reconsider the entire project.
And so, late last month, Marvel quietly fired head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and let go of the directors for the remaining episodes while they head back to square one. Marvel is now looking for new writers and directors. According to THR, Ord and Corman's take was more of "a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence." “Daredevil: Born Again” is undergoing a major creative overhaul, Variety has confirmed.
The Disney+ series from Marvel Studios has recently parted ways with head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and is currently seeking new writers to revamp the show. Ord and Corman will still be credited as executive producers.
And with less than half of the series’ 18-episode order shot prior to the beginning of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Marvel has also released the directors for the remaining episodes of the season. Some elements of the already shot material will be used going forward, but Marvel is looking to take the show in a new creative direction.

It didn’t take long to see the problem after Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again paused production in mid-June during the writers strike. Fewer than half of the series’ 18 episodes had been shot, but it was enough for Marvel executives, including chief Kevin Feige, to review the footage and come away with a clear-eyed assessment: The show wasn’t working.
So, in late September, Marvel quietly let go of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and also released the directors for the remainder of the season as part of a significant creative reboot of the series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The studio is now on the hunt for new writers and directors for the project, which stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer turned superhero.

Steven DeKnight, showrunner on Netflix’s Marvel Daredevil series, calls the upcoming Disney+ series “an old Disney scam” that will keep the Netflix series creatives from getting what is due to them financially.
Written and executive produced by Covert Affairs‘ Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the new installment centers on Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, otherwise known as Matt Murdock, an attorney by day and crimefighter by night. Vince D’Onofrio reprises his role as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.
DeKnight served as the showrunner for the first season of Netflix’s Daredevil, which launched in 2015 and ran for three seasons.
DeKnight was responding to a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) by a grip named Thomas, who is part of the IATSE union that represents film, TV and stage crew workers.
Thomas wrote that the retitling of the series is “a f***ing scam”, designed to reset guild contract terms to Season 1 levels.

Steven DeKnight, who served as the showrunner on the first season of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” recently took to social media to criticize Disney for running a scam with its upcoming reboot series “Daredevil: Born Again” (via Entertainment Weekly). The 18-episode series features the returns of Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal, who starred on the original Netflix series as Daredevil, Kingpin and Punisher, respectively.
“It’s an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season,” DeKnight wrote on X/Twitter. “Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!”
“From what I understand, I’m not going to see a penny from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ because they added the ‘Born Again’ and can claim it’s a completely different show,” he explained. “You know, with the exact same two lead actors (who I love!) playing Daredevil and Fisk.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is, for a good number of reasons, one of the most anticipated MCU projects at this moment and probably the most anticipated MCU series. We all know that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil debuted in the Netflix original series ‘Daredevil,’ which ran for three seasons and received critical acclaim, with many still considering it one of the best superhero television series ever created. After the series ended and the rights were reverted to Marvel Studios, the fans started an online campaign to bring Cox’s Daredevil back for more.
The last season of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ was released in 2018, and fans waited three years for the return of Charlie Cox, who returned as Matt Murdock in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and Vincent D’Onofrio, who returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in ‘Hawkeye.’

When Daredevil: Born Again comes to Disney+, the 18-episode presentation will reportedly be divided into two parts, with multiple story arcs making up the overall adventure. This rumor hails from industry insider Daniel Richtman, who’s keeping tabs on the Marvel production, which is currently on hold due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Richtman says Marvel plans to break the series into multiple story arcs, with two or three episodes dedicated to each segment.
Additionally, Richtman says Daredevil: Born Again strives for a TV-ma rating, adding to the short list of mature content offered on the service as Disney+ prepares to merge with Hulu in the U.S. This tidbit should please fans of the Man Without Fear after many complaints about the character’s lighter tone in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The union strike from the Writer’s Guild of America continues, and studios are about to really hit a wall if a strike from the Screen Actor’s Guild goes into effect. However, there are many films and TV shows that are experiencing production delays as Hollywood hopes for an agreement to be met. Exclusive: Daredevil: Born Again and The Penguin finally have thrown in the towel: Deadline has learned that the Disney+ series and the Max drama will remain on pause until the end of the WGA Strike — whenever that may be.
New York-based writers routinely have picketed the Marvel series Daredevil outside of its base at Silvercup East. Production repeatedly has been shut down on the drama, most recently on June 12. Production on the revival was previously paused by sunrise picketing when members of the Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 refused to cross the line. It was then suspended for the rest of the week.

Filming for Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again series is shutting down again because of complications brought on by the WGA writers’ strike. The highly-anticipated series needs to roll cameras at Silvercup East in New York. However, that’s where the primary picketing location for WGA members stands its ground. The latest pause for Disney+’s Daredevil series follows a previous shutdown when members of the Teamster Local 817 and IATSE Locals 829 and 52 would not cross the line.
Daredevil: Born Again is three months into an 8-month filming schedule. With the strike disrupting an already tight itinerary, Daredevil might not reach fans for quite some time.
Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdoch/Daredevil for the series. The actor officially rejoined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Vincent D’Onofrio will return as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, with Jon Bernthal returning as The Punisher.
