Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have been locked in to reprise the roles of hero Matt Murdock / Daredevil and villain Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, characters they originally played on the Marvel-inspired Netflix series Daredevil, on the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again ever since Marvel and Disney+ started pushing the show forward. When their supporting cast was being assembled at the end of 2022, it was announced that Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) had signed on to appear on the show as a love interest to the Fisk – with the word being that she was taking over the role of his wife Vanessa Marianna Fisk, who had previously been played by Ayelet Zurer on the Netflix show. Apparently there had been scheduling issues with Zurer, who said she was “sad to not take part” in the new series… which, at the time, wasn’t meant to line up with the Netflix show perfectly. Filming...

Daredevil: Born Again has gone through several changes following its creative overhaul in late 2023. From getting Dario Scardapane, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead onboard to lead the series, and bringing back Karen and Foggy, to the recent return of Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk, the show went through numerous favorable changes. However, it looks like this revamp has also concerned the fans about some characters being written off from the show.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is officially back in action. New photos taken from the set of "Daredevil: Born Again" have confirmed the return of the actor's version of Frank Castle, who first appeared on the Marvel Netflix shows nearly a decade ago. But five years after "The Punisher" was canceled by the streaming service, Bernthal is reuniting with his old frenemy Matt Murdock (once again played by Charlie Cox).

The above image sees Bernthal looking very much like the Frank Castle fans of the Netflix shows remember -- bloody, jacked, and ready for vengeance on the streets of New York City. You can also see Bernthal and Cox reunited in costume below. Unfortunately, we don't get a great sense of what's going on in the scenes in question, but it certainly looks like they're getting bloody and kicking ass. But are they on friendly terms this time around?...

Jon Bernthal is back playing Frank Castle (aka Punisher) on the set of “Daredevil: Born Again,” new set photos from which have the character paired up with Charlie Cox’s eponymous hero and soaked in blood. The Disney+ series is now filming in New York City. Bernthal debuted as Frank Castle in Netflix’s “The Punisher” series, which aired for two seasons and 26 episodes between 2017 and 2019.

In addition to Cox and Bernthal, also set to appear in the series are Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Franklin “Foggy” Nelson), Wilson Bethel (Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin). “Going to Hell for God is the logical end for the Catholic devil,” declares Matt Murdock in 2023’s Daredevil #12.
Matt Murdock isn’t the only religious superhero in the Marvel Universe. In addition to fellow Catholic Nightcrawler of the X-Men, there’s the Presbyterian Christian Wolfsbane, Muslim Ms. Marvel, pantheist Black Panther, and Jewish characters like Moon Knight and Kitty Pryde. But Daredevil might be the Marvel superhero whose religion plays the most pronounced role in his stories.
Of course, Daredevil isn’t the first Marvel hero to go to Hell and literally fight the Devil, as Ghost Rider, the X-Men, and anyone who had to deal with Mephisto can attest. But when it’s guilty Catholic Matt Murdock donning his Daredevil duds to deal with the Devil, then it’s a really big deal. The show had a bit of a shakeup with Dario Scardapane stepping in as the new showrunner, sparking lots of talks about what’s changing and what’s staying. But from what we’ve seen, things are looking good, and the core of the show seems intact.
Charlie Cox is back as Matt Murdock, and recent set photos have thrown a new twist into the mix. He was spotted in a cozy scene with Margarita Levieva, who’s playing Heather Glenn. For those in the loop, Heather’s one of Matt’s old flames from the comic books. This has got everyone talking because Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, is also back. Fans are wondering, will Matt and Karen’s spark reignite, or is Heather the new main squeeze?...

Daredevil: Born Again? More like Daredevil on Netflix: Born Again!
When Disney announced the MCU TV series Daredevil: Born Again, the studio played coy about the show’s relationship to the Netflix series that preceded it. Yes, Charlie Cox would once again play blind lawyer turned protector of Hell’s Kitchen Matt Murdock, and Vincent D’Onofrio would return as his enemy Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime.
At first, the distinction made sense. While Daredevil remained strong, especially through its third season, shows such as Iron Fist and The Defenders suffered from stories stretched thin and lackluster performances. Furthermore, the show’s rough violence and sexuality made them a poor fit with the MCU’s soft PG-13 aesthetic.
However, with each month, it seems more and more like Daredevil: Born Again will be a direct continuation of the Netflix shows. Not...

New set photos gave fans their first look at Daredevil's Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who play Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again.
Previously, rumor had it that in the original version of the upcoming MCU Disney+ series, neither Foggy nor Karen would have returned. Woll had previously gone on record to state that Marvel Studios never reached out to her about returning.
However, recently, following a creative restructuring of the show, reports started claiming both of Matt Murdock's close friends from his former Netflix series would be properly making a comeback.

Daredevil: Born Again may be billed as a brand-new series, but it’s looking more and more like Daredevil season 4. In addition to Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio starring as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, Daredevil: Born Again includes a handful of actors returning from the Netflix series, with a new rumor pointing to the return of Wilson Bethel as Bullseye.
According to ComicBook.com, Wilson Bethel is set to reprise his role of Bullseye for Daredevil: Born Again. He made his first appearance in the Netflix series during the third season, with the character reimagined as Benjamin “Dex” Pointdexter, a psychopathic FBI agent who is able to use any object as a lethal projectile. He also suited up in a replica Daredevil costume. Although the report seems confident that Bethel will appear in the new series, “it’s unclear how extensive his role will be.“

In case it wasn't already clear by now, Marvel Studios is doubling down on its connections to the Marvel Netflix universe of streaming shows. Next up on the reunion tour for "Daredevil: Born Again"? The Devil of Hell's Kitchen imposter known as Bullseye, portrayed by Wilson Bethel in season 3 of "Daredevil." The news comes from ComicBook.com, which reports only that he'll make some sort of appearance in the retooled series -- but "it's unclear how extensive his role will be."
Fans will remember that the rather tortured character of Benjamin Poindexter played an integral role in the war against Matt Murdock and Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk in the Netflix series. Season 3 ultimately ended with Bullseye on the wrong end of a fight between the two foes, shattering his spine and left paralyzed. It's unclear exactly how or even if Marvel will incorporate all these prior events into their new series, but...

According to THR, Daredevil: Born Again will finally resume shooting on Monday. The Disney+ series was in the midst of production when it was forced to shut down last summer due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. During that hiatus, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and other executives grew displeased with the direction of the show and demanded a creative overhaul.
Dario Scardapane, who worked on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan as well as Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix, was brought in to serve as the new showrunner of Daredevil: Born Again. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the directing team who helmed multiple episodes of Moon Knight and Loki season 2, were also hired to direct the remaining episodes of the series. The retooling is said to move the series away from a legal procedural and more towards the gritty tone of the original Daredevil series on Netflix. To that end,...

Marvel Studios is starting out 2024 on a sturdy footing as it begins to refocus and rebuild its TV shows.
Coming off the strong opening of Echo, its crime series centered on Indigenous and deaf anti-heroine Maya Lopez, Marvel next turns its attention to Daredevil: Born Again, which restarts production Monday after a lengthy hiatus.
Philip Silvera, who acted as stunt and fight coordinator on the Netflix version of Daredevil that ran in the mid-2010s, has returned to the fold to act as stunt coordinator and second unit director for the new series.
His hiring is the latest example of the retooling Born Again underwent as it was changed from a legal procedural to something that aims to harken back to the gritty and violent tone of that first well-regarded series. It also reaffirms the show’s focus on more street-level heroics and less on heavy (and costly) visual effects.

Even though Charlie Cox, who played the Marvel Comics character Matt Murdock / Daredevil on the Daredevil series that was made for the Netflix streaming service (and is now available on Disney+) has since reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Vincent D’Onofrio also reprised the role of the villainous Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in the Hawkeye series, it hasn’t been clear whether or not that Daredevil show would really be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. When the eighteen episode MCU / Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again went into production with Cox and D’Onofrio in the lead roles, it was apparently branching off in directions that wouldn’t exactly match what had been seen in the Netflix show. But then the writers strike hit, causing Daredevil: Born Again to stop filming for a while… and during the break, Marvel executives watched the...

Given that Daredevil: Born Again appears to be living up to its name in more literal fashion than Marvel might have intended given all the :a[creative re-working]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/tv/news/daredevil-born-again-reportedly-being-creatively-overhauled/' } and new :a[behind-the-scenes hires]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/tv/news/daredevil-born-again-hires-new-showrunner-plus-justin-benson-and-aaron-moorhead-to-direct/' }, we suppose this could have been predictable. Still – assuming it proves true — it's good news to learn that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will be back reprising their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson from the Netflix incarnation of the Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) character.
The two characters were a highlight of the Netflix series, so of course we're glad to see them back. I often lambast the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the "same old, same old" feeling of its movies and television — so I feel a little hypocritical calling the revival series "Daredevil: Born Again" my most anticipated Marvel project.
"Daredevil" ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015-2018, but was canceled afterward. Like its sister shows, it was a casualty of Marvel and Netflix decoupling from their creative partnership. However, since it was the most consistently acclaimed of the Marvel/Netflix shows and the title character has the biggest built-in audience, "Daredevil" will be born again on Disney+.
As for why I'm excited? "Daredevil" was counterprogramming to the quippy fluff of the MCU movies, with a darker tone and more violence. Plus, what can I say, I'm a fan of the character. If you aren't familiar, Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer blessed with enhanced senses to compensate. At night, he patrols...

Disney+’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again may be getting even more familiar faces, as it has been reported that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will reprise their respective characters from the original Daredevil series, Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll were key supporters throughout Daredevil’s three seasons when it aired on Netflix. That they’re expected to return – alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil – is most certainly reason for fans to be even more excited for Born Again. While it wasn’t anticipated that Henson and Woll would reprise their roles, they have stayed loyal to the characters: both turned up alongside Cox in The Defenders, while Henson would pop up as Foggy on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and Woll had a short run on The Punisher TV series.

Deborah Ann Woll and the Daredevil Commitment When we talk about Deborah Ann Woll, we instantly recall her as Karen Page from the Daredevil TV series. Her dedication to the Marvel universe was not just a single show affair; her character spanned across The Punisher, and The Defenders. This commitment suggests a significant time investment in these series, potentially overlapping with the schedule of Transformers 4. Could this be why she missed out on joining the Autobots and Decepticons? It’s quite plausible that the timelines just didn’t align for Woll to consider other roles. Analyzing Deborah Ann Woll’s Career Trajectory...

Marvel Studios opened a bit of a can of worms when it announced the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in the MCU. This is after the studio basically disavowed the events of the Netflix “Daredevil”/“Defenders” continuity when the character was brought back under the Marvel Studios umbrella. Since then, there has been even more confusion with the inclusion of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, as well as reports of Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher.

One of the most buzzed-about Marvel projects on the horizon is ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Recently, writers have been calling it a soft reboot compared to the previous Netflix production of ‘Daredevil.’ It adds up, especially with the swirling rumors that Matt is gearing up to launch a new law firm as he tries to distance himself from his past.

The original ‘Daredevil’ series ran for three seasons on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. The series was critically acclaimed, and many superhero fans still consider it one of the best superhero shows ever made. The series followed the blind titular character, played by Charlie Cox, and his adventures as a lawyer during the day and the Man Without Fear at night.
The series finished its run on Netflix after Disney brought the rights back to Marvel Studios. The fans started a large social media campaign to save the series, and their prayers were ultimately answered in July 2022 at San Diego Comic-Con when the Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced a new series, ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ with Cox set to return and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising the role of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.
A new rumor might explain why Foggy Nelson and Karen Page won’t return in the upcoming series!

Hello, and welcome to another edition of “trying to work out what Daredevil: Born Again will be about by examining all the set photos and footage coming out of the show’s ongoing NYC shoot”. As always, I’ll be your host, and today we’ll be taking a trip down (recent) memory lane, because some new images have got Marvel fans wondering whereabouts in the MCU’s timeline Born Again actually takes place.
The new pics show Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) strolling down a street wearing his iconic red glasses, and passing a Baptist Church. Nothing too fascinating about that, however, the bulletin board at the front of the church is dated March 15, 2020, aka the middle of The Blip, when half of the universe’s denizens were dust in the wind.

With filming on Disney+ Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again now well underway in New York City, star Charlie Cox has been spotted back on set dressed as lawyer Matt Murdock, complete with the character’s iconic red glasses and cane.
Cox is accompanied in the new Born Again set photos by smartly-dressed co-star Nikki M. James (Severence), who plays a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney-fied version of the Netflix show. Marvel has not confirmed the name of James’ character, but she’s rumored to be playing assistant district attorney Kirsten McDuffie, who was once romantically linked to Matt in the pages of Marvel Comics. To be fair, you can’t throw a stone in the Marvel Universe without hitting someone Matt’s been romantically linked to! The old dog.

Jon Bernthal will be suiting up as The Punisher again for Daredevil: Born Again.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed Tuesday that he would be joining Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio for the Disney+ revival.
The 18-episode (!) series is set to enter production in New York later this month.
Bernthal initially played Frank Castle in 12 episodes of Daredevil before going on to headline The Punisher for two seasons.
The series was canceled in 2019, around the time Netflix grounded its entire slate of Marvel series.
At that point, there were concerns that all of the superheroes that formed part of Netflix's slate wouldn't return.
But all the shows left Netflix last year and moved to Disney+ around the globe, paving the way for some heroes to return.

Jon Bernthal is getting his skull vest out of the closet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal has signed on to reprise the role of vigilante Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again.”
Bernthal previously played the iconic anti-hero in the Netflix series “Daredevil,” as well as in his own eponymous series, which ran for two seasons on the streaming service from 2017 to 2019.
Bernthal is joining original “Daredevil” cast members Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the revival, which starts shooting in New York next month. The season will reportedly consist of 18 episodes, a much longer run than high-end streaming productions usually do.

Marvel Studios is rounding out its cast for their upcoming and incredibly buzzy streaming series, "Daredevil: Born Again," and fans will no doubt rejoice over one big returning name. With Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin already confirmed to be on board the revival series, none other than John Bernthal will once again be suiting up as the famous, skull-wearing antihero Frank Castle/Punisher. The trio of actors are reprising their roles from the well-received Netflix shows and spin-offs about their respective Marvel characters, though it remains slightly murky whether the continuity of those various series are considered as part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe canon or not.

Jon Bernthal is returning to his most punishing role. The actor will reprise Frank Castle, aka antihero the Punisher, in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again for Disney+, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Bernthal joins Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the series, which begins shooting in New York this month. In a departure from other Marvel series, which come in at six or nine episodes per season, Born Again is planned as a whopping 18-episode epic. Writers and executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord are behind the show, which is expected to bow in the spring of 2024.
Marvel could not be reached for comment.
Born Again takes its title from a landmark Daredevil storyline published in 1986, written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzuchelli. The show is deviating from that plot, although by how much is unclear. The Punisher, for example, made no appearance in the comic story.

Daredevil made his official return in She-Hulk this year after a brief cameo in last year’s Spider-man: No Way Home. Charlie Cox, along with Vincent D’Onofrio, is set to return to Hell’s Kitchen in DisneyPlus’ Daredevil: Born Again. Fans are anticipating the new show as it continues the story of Matt Murdock in the battle for the soul of New York against the Kingpin.
One former Daredevil cast member who has revealed is not making a return, at least not yet, is Deborah Ann Woll. Variety reports that the actress has said that Marvel has not contacted her about the upcoming sequel series despite her character, Karen Page, being a prominent love interest to Murdock.

It looks like Deborah Ann Woll might not be involved in Daredevil: Born Again, the upcoming Disney+ reboot of the abruptly canceled Netflix series Daredevil. While she played a main character — Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) coworker and love interest Karen Page — on all three seasons of the show, she let it be known that she hasn’t been asked to reprise her role. During a chat with Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast Inside of You, he asked her about the reboot. “I can say this: they have not called me yet. So, as of now, I am not a part of it,” she noted. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say.
