[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Fear The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 12, “The Road Ahead.”] Who said joy can’t be found in the rotted depths of the end of the world? All post-apocalyptic pessimism is banished in the final scenes of Fear The Walking Dead’s finale, “The Road Ahead.” The alive, then dead, then alive, then dead, then alive again (long story) Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) was at last able to pull her daughter, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), in for a tearful embrace. And as a bonus, Daniel (Ruben Blades) even gets his long-missing orange tabby cat back. Yep—Skidmark lives! We chatted with showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg about how long that emotional reunion was in the making, whether or not they considered resurrecting other fan favorites in the finale, and whether there’s a chance certain Fear characters might appear in future The Walking Dead projects. When Alycia Debnam-Carey departed last season,...

Of all the terrible things Victor Strand has done throughout his time shifting allegiances on Fear the Walking Dead, acting like he didn't know Madison is one of the worst.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 7 filled in the blanks about what became of the villain after his ill-fated tower imploded, and it was another meandering episode of this once-hot zombie drama.
Pulling off such a reunion between Madison and Anton Strand was no easy feat, and for the first time in a long time, Madison felt like the leader we left when Kim Dickens was unceremoniously written out of Fear the Walking Dead Season 4.
Despite the attempts from current showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg to fix the damage they caused to the show and its fandom by discarding Dickens, Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 has been a waste of time.
Until now, that is.

“The Nun II” has set a streaming release date on Max just in time for Halloween weekend. The New Line horror sequel will hit Max on Friday, Oct. 27 so those looking for a new horror movie to watch before the spooky holiday will be in luck.
The latest film in the “Conjuring” universe and direct sequel to 2018’s “The Nun” opened in theaters on Sept. 8, so it marks a quick move to streaming even in the wake of the film’s box office success. It’s pulled in $257 million at the worldwide box office so far, which is under the $365 million that the first “Nun” movie pulled in but not too shabby for a budget under $40 million.
The streaming release no doubt serves to bolster Max’s visibility during a time of increased movie-watching as the Halloween season coincides with a surge in demand for horror films.

The Nun II is an gothic supernatural horror film directed by Michael Chaves and released in 2023. The screenplay is written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper, based on a story by Cooper. This movie serves as a sequel to the 2018 film, The Nun, and is the eighth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise. The cast includes Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons, who reprise their roles from the first film, along with Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell joining the cast.
As a good sequel, “The Nun II” once again focuses on the elements that made the first one successful: lots of scares and a gothic atmosphere (they say now) with a photography style that emphasizes light and shadow.
Caravaggio’s tenebrism seems to still have its followers, as similar themes are combined, although this time with fewer distorted angles and more scares.

Warner Bros. Discovery and New Line Cinema’s”The Nun II” began its domestic box office run with a promising $3.1 million in Thursday previews. That compares to the $5.4 million Thursday preview gross of “The Nun” in September of 2018, the $4 million Thursday gross for “Annabelle: Creation” in August of 2017 and the $3.4 million preview earnings for “The Conjuring 2” in June of 2016.
Considering a stronger critical response (53% fresh versus 24% for the first “Nun” on Rotten Tomatoes) and the relative lack of big-deal horror movies over the last several months, all signs point to another strong $25-$35 million opening weekend for Hollywood’s most successful post-“Avengers” cinematic universe.
Since James Wan’s first “The Conjuring” in July of 2013, the R-rated, religious horror franchise has earned over $2.1 billion worldwide on a combined budget of $180 million. It’s the one unmitigated success in terms of Hollywood trying to build their own interconnected cinematic universes...

Five years after "The Nun" became the biggest movie in the history of The Conjuring Universe, Valak the demon nun is back for more. That's right! After being caught in development and, no thanks to the pandemic, delayed for a little while, "The Nun II" is finally upon us, with Bonnie Aarons returning as Valak and Taissa Farmiga suiting up once again as Sister Irene to fight the evil being in the lord's name. Let's get ready to rumble.
It's clear that Warner Bros. has no plans on ending this franchise any time soon, as "The Conjuring 4" and a TV series set in the universe are already in the works. So, does "The Nun II" contain any teases of what's to come? Does this sequel contain a post-credits scene of some kind? We're here to give you a spoiler-free answer to that question, as well as some context to help...

Michael Chaves’ The Nun II is regrettably a dull by-the-books Conjurverse entry. Corin Hardy proved incoming directors could shoot a Conjurverse movie without trying to imitate James Wan — 2018’s The Nun is a breath of fresh Euro-Hammer air. The Nun II falls right back into formation with Chaves’ other franchise entries (The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It), where the filmmaker plays imitation games instead of finding his unique directorial voice. It’s a sequel that copies previous Conjurverse entries, lacks discipline, and overstays a nearly two-hour welcome like the rough draft of something tighter, trimmed, and better focused.

ConjuringVerse sequel The Nun II sets out to atone for the biggest sin committed in 2018’s The Nun: an emphasis on atmospherics and lore over the sinister scares that made Valak (Bonnie Aarons) an instant fan favorite in The Conjuring 2. The Nun II dials up the fear factor, wasting no time establishing the merciless nature of Valak as it takes the “more is more” approach to everything from set pieces to mythology. It makes for a livelier entry that stumbles in its excess.

Against all odds, director James Wan's "The Conjuring" movies somehow managed to hit that horror sweet spot. It takes a deceptive amount of skill to find that special balance between brutal, nightmare-inducing scares and a refreshingly uncynical worldview -- one that never took characters we actually came to love and subjected them to abject cruelty. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson's performances as expert demonologists Lorraine and Ed Warren went a long way towards grounding such supernatural antics in genuine earnestness, and their absence immediately put 2018's "The Nun" at a creative disadvantage. Like a startlingly funny sermon delivered by your parish’s creepiest priest, “The Nun II” will leave you smiling despite yourself.
Director Michael Chaves helms this surprisingly clever ninth installment in The Conjuring Universe, and his third at-bat for the horror franchise created by James Wan just over a decade ago. With a story by recent genre genius Akela Cooper — and a script co-written by her, Ian Goldberg, and Richard Naing (“The Autopsy of Jane Doe”) — this smartly crafted sequel-to-a-prequel marks a long-awaited upswing for Warner Bros.’ steadily declining demonology epic.

But “The Nun II” proves an invigorating Second Coming for the returning cast painfully let down by the first “The Nun” (2018) — and a redemptive triumph for The Conjuring’s merciless Mother Superior,...

The Conjuring Universe has grossed $2 billion, and dollar for dollar, it’s the most successful cinematic universe that doesn’t involve superheroes. Surprisingly, the highest grossing chapter in the James Wan and Peter Safran-produced horror franchise is 2018’s The Nun ($366 million), and now, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It director Michael Chaves is back with its follow-up, The Nun II.
The Taissa Farmiga-led film is Chaves’ second go-round in the Conjuring franchise, as the official count does not include his feature directorial debut, The Curse of La Llorona (2019), despite New Line and Wan’s involvement, as well as a character and footage from 2014’s Annabelle. (The point of contention for Chaves is that franchise co-producer Peter Safran did not shepherd La Llorona with Wan.)

Of all of the young actors to break through thanks to the success of "Stranger Things," Sadie Sink has had arguably one of the most interesting career trajectories. Sink got her start on Broadway playing the titular role of "Annie," and had a handful of TV appearances on shows like "The Americans" and "Blue Bloods" before nabbing a main role in "American Odyssey." Unfortunately, that show only lasted one season, canceled by NBC only two days after the season finale. When Sink was cast as Max Mayfield on "Stranger Things" in season 2, she immediately became a fan favorite. Max has become the bleeding heart of the series, and her popularity even prevented show creators, The Duffer Brothers, from killing off the character in season 4 as originally planned.
Following "Stranger Things," Sink has continued to thrive by starring in "Fear Street: 1978," Taylor Swift's short film, "All Too Well," Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale,...

With Lennie James bowing out of Fear the Walking Dead, it seems the series is being handed back to many of its original stars.
AMC went public with the official trailer for the back half of Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 on Friday during a Twd universe San Diego Comic-Con panel.
"Now that Shrike (Maya Eshet) and her influence are gone, Madison (Kim Dickens) sets sights on transforming Padre into the safe haven the old Stadium was meant to be," the logline teases.
"But in doing so the island becomes a target as well as a beacon as word of Madison and this land of resources spreads, attracting unwanted attention that puts Padre back in peril and questions whether our heroes even deserve to save it."
Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 wrapped with several significant developments that will shake up the dynamics as we head into these final episodes.

The first three seasons were not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but under the leadership of Dave Erickson, certain aspects of those initial three seasons towered above the main series.
With Erickson's departure at the end of Fear the Walking Dead Season 3, there was a noticeable dive in quality, thanks to inconsistent pacing, poorly developed characters, and some nonsensical storytelling.
Every time the series has shown some semblance of quality, it has returned off the rails before we get accustomed to it.
Surprisingly, the first three episodes of Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 are some of the strongest since those initial three seasons, giving the sense that the latest revamp might bring the show to a close with some dignity.

Kim Dickens returned as Madison to finish her story arc in the final two seasons of AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. Kim tells CineMovie she was thrilled to be asked back although executive producers Ian Goldberg and Michael E. Satrazemis feared she would tell them to "fly a kite' before approaching her. The actress was very upset when her character was written off the show in season 4 but she says she was lifted by the support she received from her fans. ...

Toward the end of last year, it was announced that The Conjuring 4 is in the works at New Line Cinema, with James Wan and Peter Safran producing and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who previously worked on the scripts for The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, writing the screenplay. Wan has previously hinted that The Conjuring 4 could turn out to be the last film in the franchise… and if it is, it has a fitting title for a final installment. While at CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, Warner Bros. revealed that the next movie is titled The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Nothing is known about the plot at this time, and the movie also doesn’t have a director attached to it at the moment.
The title reveal for The Conjuring: Last Rites isn’t the only bit of promotion Warner Bros.

It's day 2 of CinemaCon — and things are just getting started out there in Las Vegas! /Film's own Ben Pearson is on the ground at the annual film showcase and is bringing us the first word on the exclusive trailers and sneak peek presentations there — including the upcoming "The Nun" sequel film "The Nun 2," starring Storm Reid. CinemaCon debuted new footage from the film, which premieres in the fall, and horror fans might want to keep this one on their radar later this year.
The movie is reportedly set four years after the ending of the first film and will revisit Taissa Farmiga's Sister Irene as she squares off against the demon Valak — also known as The Nun — once again. The latest film to join the "Conjuring" universe is directed by "The Curse of La Llorona" and "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It" director Michael Chaves. "M3GAN...

AMC brought Fear the Walking Dead and the new The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City to the 2023 WonderCon held March 24-26 in Anaheim, CA. While Dead City made its WonderCon debut, this year’s panel for Fear the Walking Dead marks its final time appearing at what’s referred to as the smaller, more low-key version of the massive San Diego Comic-Con.
Series stars Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman, and Christine Evangelista joined co-showrunner Ian Goldberg and executive producer Michael Satrazemis for the show’s final season panel. AMC used the WonderCon panel to debut the season eight trailer, and the network also released a new poster and photos online. And during the panel, Goldberg confirmed season eight includes a seven-year time jump.
Season eight will premiere on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 9pm Et/Pt on AMC and AMC+. The final season is split into two parts, with the...

The long goodbye has begun: Fear the Walking Dead dropped a trailer for the eighth and final season of the AMC prequel.
To help promote the upcoming season, co-showrunner Ian Goldberg and Executive Producer Michael Satrazemis — together with cast members Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman and Christine Evangelista –appeared at WonderCon today. The biggest scoop about the season 8 was revealed by Goldberg, who said it will include a seven-year time jump.
Goldberg reflected on the season ending and enduring fanbase for the series. “It feels surreal; it’s amazing to be making season 8 of this show, and only because, at this point, everybody knows that this will be our final season,” Goldberg said. “Thank you so much; you are the best fans in the world, we made this show for you, and we’re so honored that we’ve been able to tell these stories for such a long time.”

Last month, AMC announced that the eighth season of Fear the Walking Dead, which is set to begin airing on May 14th, will be the final season. Now cinematographer David Morrison has taken to Instagram to mark the fact that filming is underway on the series finale. Morrison said, “Been looking forward to this for a while. Years in the making. Let’s do this!” The series finale is being directed by Michael E. Satrazemis, a franchise regular who has directed seventeen episodes of The Walking Dead, twenty episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, and three episodes of Tales of the Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead wrapped up its eleven season run on AMC last year, so it seems fitting that Fear the Walking Dead, its first companion series, is following its example and wrapping up as well. Especially since there are a bunch of new spin-offs to look forward...

It’s been two years since the most recent movie in The Conjuring Universe – 2021’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, but that dry streak comes to an end later this year with The Nun 2, a sequel to the spinoff hit from 2018. Despite the poor critical reception, Corin Hardy’s The Nun was a Massive box office hit, scaring up a whopping 365 million in theaters.
In fact, The Nun is actually the highest grossing film in the entire Conjuring Universe to date, and yes that includes the two core The Conjuring movies directed by James Wan!
It was only natural that Valak the demonic nun would return in a sequel, and indeed The Nun 2 is currently slated for theatrical release on September 8, 2023, a full five years after Valak dominated the box office in her first solo movie. This time around, Michael Chaves (Curse of La Llorona,...
