In Xo, Kitty, teen matchmaker Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) sets out on her very own adventure of romance and independence at the Korean Independent School of Seoul. Yes, she’s ready to kick her love story with long distance boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) into high gear and connect to the memory of her late mother Eve, who also attended Kiss. But Kitty also has a major problem: She’s tired of living in the shadow of her older sisters Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Margot (Janel Parrish).
After all, Lara Jean’s high school experience was so exciting it birthed three whole rom-coms — the To All the Boys movie franchise, which introduced Kitty as a precocious and meddlesome tween. Whether you’re a longtime To All the Boys fan or total newcomer, you may wonder if you need to rewind to Kitty’s TaTB past to enjoy her Xo,...

“Summer’s end is around the bend just flyin’” according to the great John E. Prine and Patrick James McLaughlin, whose song “Summer’s End” appeared in Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” covered by Phoebe Bridgers and Maria Taylor. This applies to reality as the seasons and months change, but also to Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which just wrapped its second season on Prime Video. Don’t blink though, because even though Season 3 is delayed due to the ongoing strikes, it will likely be the last one.

While viewers impatiently wait for new weekly episodes of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Jenny Han has another show and a set of movies available to stream. “Xo, Kitty” and the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” films contain similar themes of teenage love and coming of age. All three heroines in Han’s different works come from her books — “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy or the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy.
If you want to go chronologically, it depends on whether you go by the books’ publish dates or the order in which they were adapted. For adaptation order, start with “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” From there, you can either watch the spinoff show “Xo, Kitty” or break for Season 1 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” Plus, Han makes cameo appearances in each installment of her film series and shows.

Kitty Song Covey's fascinating love life has nothing on the "Xo, Kitty" cast's real-life friendships. According to Anna Cathcart, who has portrayed Kitty on screen since the first "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" movie made its Netflix debut in 2018, the bond she shares with her castmates has made her journey as the character all the more worthwhile. "I am truly so grateful for all of them because they made such a huge difference," she tells Popsugar. "It's honestly what makes the experience at the end: the people that you meet and the friendships that you make."
On screen, Cathcart and her costars - Gia Kim, Min-young Choi, Sang Heon Lee, Anthony Keyvan, and Jocelyn Shelfo - are inseparable. Even when their characters get on each other's nerves or find themselves entangled in a complicated love triangle (read: love square), they can't help but stay involved in each other's lives.

Gia Kim was used to "lights, camera, action" long before her big break as an actor in Netflix's "Xo, Kitty." "I always loved . . . using movies or just pictures in general . . . and telling stories that need to be told," Kim tells Popsugar about what led her to pursue journalism at the University of Hong Kong before she made the switch to acting - her true passion. It's probably safe to say that, as a college student, she didn't foresee herself playing a 16-year-old high school student in a hit Netflix series 10 years later - and certainly not alongside her real-life younger brother, Sang Heon Lee.
In her first major television role, Kim managed to cement her character, Yuri - a sophomore at Korean Independent School of Seoul (Kiss) using Kitty's first love, Dae, as a cover to hide that she's gay from her wealthy, image-obsessed parents...

We know that Xo, Kitty does not in any way fall into the “fashion” show category. Still, there is something fun about the outfits and how well each character is styled to fit their personality perfectly. Today we attempt to tier-rank some of the best outfits of the show based on some simple categories. No. 1: How well does the outfit represent the character? No. 2 is occasion-appropriate; No. 3 is overall viewership appeal. Considering Xo, Kitty is for young blood, it is only fair to see if these outfits would be worn by regular late teens, and from our judgment, they could! So, without further ado, let’s establish the tiers from worst to best.

Anthony Keyvan agrees with Kitty’s description of Q, his character in Netflix’s “Xo, Kitty” as having a “heart of gold,” adding that he thinks Q would be a “bros before hoes” kind of guy when it comes to some drama at the end of the show.
Q is one of Dae’s (Minyeong Choi) best friends and roommates at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (Kiss), where Kitty’s mom studied abroad for her junior year of high school. Kitty (Anna Cathcart), who first appeared in the film adaptation of Jenny Han’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” (2018), sets off on her own adventures to Kiss in the spinoff show “Xo, Kitty” for two reasons: her mom went there and she’s dating Dae long-distance. Kitty eventually wins over Q, and she even sets him up with French and Greek student Florian (Théo Augier Bonaventure) with her matchmaking skills.

Australian actor Peter Thurnwald plays Alex, the new chemistry teacher at Kiss, in Netflix’s To All The Boys I Loved Before spinoff Xo, Kitty. Alex happens to be one of the first people at Kiss to show some love to Kitty, who runs around like a lost puppy after getting rejected by Dae at a party and falling into a tower of cupcakes. Alex is a chemistry teacher, but somehow he’s quite stupid when it comes to other things and often brings a laugh to the show when it starts to get dry. He’s a great character who guides Kitty as a teacher and also as a friend. I’m not sure why Kitty begins to call him by his first name when they’re on the other side of the world, but we’ll just go with the fact that it’s an international school. Peter has excellent comic timing,...

Xo, Kitty has introduced a bunch of young talent to the scene, including Lee Sang Heon, who plays the dashing Min Ho, Kitty’s frenemy. Before we get into it, to address the elephant in the room, yes, Min Ho is the dream leading man of every rom-com K-drama we like. If you’ve read our review, you might remember that we added him to the list of Gu Jun Pyo-esque chaebol characters who are wowed by a girl who changed their lives forever. But there’s one huge difference in Xo, Kitty, Min Ho isn’t the lead of this show; he isn’t even the second lead; he’s just the best friend. Now before y’all jump at me for saying that, let me explain how this works in his favor. Min Ho is that character that slowly creeps up from the corner of our vision to...

Turns out Kitty and Dae might not be meant for each other.
After getting over the hurdles of a fake relationship that made Kitty (Anna Cathcart) think Dae cheated on her, Kitty spilled some secrets that led Dae (Minyeong Choi) to doubt he could trust her. The pair overcame all this and other minor miscommunications in Netflix’s “Xo, Kitty,” but Kitty couldn’t squelch her developing crush on Yuri (Gia Kim) once it sparked. The girls go from enemies to friends bound by their mothers’ friendship, and Kitty can’t hide her growing attraction to Yuri, so she tells Dae the truth.
Dae rushes to the airport, determined to fight for Kitty before she leaves for the semester break. She’s also been expelled from Kiss, which means she may never return to Korea. Kitty and Dae’s emotional hug brings their story full circle from their embrace at the Kiss welcome dance,...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for “Xo, Kitty,” now streaming on Netflix.
Jenny Han’s 2014 novel “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” first introduces readers to Kitty Song Covey as the mischievous younger sister of main protagonist Lara Jean. Kitty, a precocious pre-teen, harbors a penchant for instigating drama — an affinity that sets off the chain of events leading to the fake-but-eventually-real relationship between her sister and love interest Peter Kavinsky. Memorialized by Anna Cathcart in the 2018 film version of the book — which spawned two sequels and launched the careers of Lana Condor and Noah Centineo, who played the leads — Kitty often serves as the comic relief, offsetting Lara Jean’s careful romantic idealism. But in spinoff series “Xo, Kitty,” which premiered on the streaming service on Thursday, the little sister becomes the star, and Cathcart steps into the spotlight.

This article contains spoilers for Xo, Kitty.
Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) was a fan favourite in the To All The Boys I Loved Before series as her matchmaking skills set up the still ongoing romance between her sister Lara-Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo). The new spin-off series Xo, Kitty sees the teenager attempt to find her own romantic happy ending when she travels to Korea to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend Dae (Minyeong Choi) who attends the Korean International School of Seoul, or Kiss for short. Kitty also attends the school to feel closer to her late mother, who also attended Kiss when she was Kitty’s age.
In 10 episodes, the love-filled journey Kitty thought she was getting is not as straightforward as she expected. Taking inspiration from K-Dramas, the first episode sees Dae and Kitty break up as he’s in a new, fake relationship with Yuri.

Xo, Kitty is the spin-off series from the famed teenage trilogy To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which follows the youngest of the Song Covey sisters, Kitty, who is now all grown up and ready for love. The Emma-esque self-proclaimed matchmaker is still reeling from her relationship with her pen pal, first love Dae, whom she met four years ago (in the To All The Boys universe) and is still actively “seeing” long distance. Right off the bat, Xo, Kitty smacks every popular K-pop group in your face with song after song from all the popular groups and idols like Seventeen, BTS, Blackpink, Twice, Somi, and so many more I can’t keep count. The show is like a kaleidoscope of K-drama, American teen drama, Hallmark teen movies, and a Disney Chanel original, while also giving off the feeling of The Summer I Turned Pretty all at once. The new Netflix series “Xo, Kitty” takes some notes from the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” film trilogy, but it also branches out for youngest sister Kitty’s (Anna Cathcart) adventures to Korea. Katherine Song Covey (Anna Cathcart), aka Kitty, is a Gen Z dream. Since she was introduced six years ago in the “To All The Boys I Loved Before” trilogy, the precocious younger sister to Laura Jean (Lana Condor) and Margot (Janel Parrish) has walked to her own beat. Steadfast, determined and slightly nosey, Kitty’s incessant meddling helped connect Lj to her long-term love Peter (Noah Centineo). With the new spinoff TV series, “Xo, Kitty,” the youngest Covey sister is stepping into the spotlight and going after the life she feels she deserves, even if that means getting her heart broken in the process.

Netflix's new teen series "Xo, Kitty" visits Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) four years after the events of the "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" film trilogy. In those movies, Kitty's older sister Lara Jean - the middle of three girls - found love with Peter Kavinsky, and fans also fell for Lana Condor and Noah Centineo who played them. In the new series, Kitty is beginning her junior year of high school, and she's determined to head to South Korea to attend the Korean Independent School of Seoul - aka Kiss - where her long-distance boyfriend Dae (Choi Min-young) attends.
While the series is focused squarely on Kitty and her own adventure, Tatbilb fans might wonder if Lara Jean, Peter, and the third Song sister Margot (Janel Parrish) appear in the TV series. Here's what to know.
