Jelly Roll has a very quirky sock rule that he lives by and it seems to boil down to him being “fat.” At least that is what the country superstar is claiming when he shares what he does with his socks. So, what rule does he have, and does it make sense? Keep reading for more details.
Jelly Roll Shares Quirky Sock Rule Because He’s ‘Fat’
There are a few things about Jelly Roll that have become his staples. He has a few gold teeth along with a plethora of tattoos including a handful on his face. The country music world shared the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards, where Post Malone performed songs from his upcoming country album, Dua Lipa joined Chris Stapleton for a duet, and Avril Lavigne and Noah Kahan partnered with country musicians onstage.
It almost felt like Beyoncé — who recently made history on the country charts with Cowboy Country — might pop up. She didn’t Thursday night, but host Reba McEntire did reference Queen Bey’s historic project during her opening monologue.
“We’re here to talk about country music and how everyone is invited and welcome here at country music’s party of the year. From Mother Maybelle to Cowboy Carter, country music is so big in 2024 that there’s room for everybody,” she said. “We all love country [music] and we all are country, and we’re keeping the circle unbroken, but growing it to even bigger and better.”

At the ACM Awards on Thursday, Miranda Lambert performed her recently released single, “Wranglers.” She had previously given the tune its debut at the Stagecoach Festival, where she also performed with frequent ACMs host Reba McEntire, in April.
Lambert’s live debut of the track was appropriately fiery, as the cowboy-hat-clad star belted out the slow burn of a track on the ACM stage. Her latest revenge anthem was released earlier this month, her first new single in two years.
Give it up for the most awarded artist in #ACMawards history @mirandalambert!

It is possible to be “scared of nothin’ and … scared to death” at the same, at least so says Luke Combs, who holds his own bellowing about the virtues of the Sooner State over a torrent of wind and rain in the video for his new song, “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song comes off the upcoming soundtrack to Twisters, the 28-years-late sequel to Twister (and grammarians will note that Combs’ double-negative suggests there is love in Oklahoma, even if it’s a North Carolinian turned Nashvillian singing his heart out.

Is Reba McEntire running a little behind Bob Hope, as an awards-show-hosting perennial… or actually a little bit ahead? It depends how you count. Because this year marks her 17th year hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards, aka the ACMs, and Hope did the Oscars 19 times, so she’s still two years from matching his record, if we compare these gigs.
However, McEntire has also hosted a rival program, the CMA Awards, five times over the years. So if we include all the times that McEntire has hosted one country awards program or another, she’s actually up to 22, if we’re doing our math right… well ahead of Hope. Something’s clicking, to say the least.
Variety clicked onto a Zoom with McEntire for a few minutes in the run-up to Thursday night’s ACM Awards, which for the third year are being broadcast live exclusively on Prime...

Jelly Roll Not Ready To Give Up Running 5Ks
When Jelly Roll announced that he would be running the 2 Bears 5k, it was a big deal. Mainly because he was going to start training for it and doubted that he would actually be running. He believed he would be briskly walking the whole race which was fine as long as he made it to the end. Jelly started training several months ago and it has helped shape him in more ways than one. The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. He has appeared as a featured performer in the last three months with arguably the three biggest acts in the music business right now: Beyonce (on her country-driven album “Cowboy Carter”), Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen (on the just-released joint single “I Had Some Help”). He also did one of the most watched sets at Stagecoach, doing a performance of classic country covers. Although it’s...

Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord) has become a household name over the last year.
The country music star has even crossed over into the pop genre, and his fan base continues to grow daily.
Earlier this season on American Idol, he was chosen as a mentor to work with the contestants while they were on location in Hawaii.
He was there to lend experience and help the contestants succeed; no ego was involved.
He caught the attention of Katy Perry, a judge on American Idol since it was brought back to life and moved to ABC. She had nothing but good things to say about him.
Katy even suggested Jelly Roll should be the one to replace her on the panel of judges as she plans to exit when the current season ends later this month.
Would Jelly Roll take the spot on American Idol?

Entertainer of the Year is the biggest prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards, honoring an artist’s incredible year across all metrics, like touring, streaming and radio. While there is no specific formula on how to predict the winner, it’s often someone who dominated the country sphere in more ways than one, and who solidified themselves as the face of country music. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the seven-person race for this year’s award.
If we are going by process of elimination, perhaps the first person out is Kane Brown. He is one of country music’s most popular artists of the past 10 years, undoubtedly so. However, 2023 wasn’t necessarily a standout year for him, evidenced by the fact that he is only nominated in this category. Plus, Brown is surely going to be back in a stronger year, perhaps with...

Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson are two of the hardest workers in the industry. Along with that, they seem to have a bit of a friendly rivalry going on regarding which one of them works harder. So, what did both country music heavy hitters have to say?
Jelly Roll Is Keeping His Momentum Going
After the breakout year that Jelly Roll had in 2023, no one would blame him if he chose to coast into 2024 and rest on his recent accolades. However, after how many years it took Jelly to climb to the top, he is not letting anything stop him from continuing his success, even if that means working harder than his peers to achieve his goals.

American Idol judge Katy Perry recently slammed fellow judge Luke Bryan over his comments to a contestant. What did Bryan say that got under Katy’s skin?
American Idol: More Hopefuls Sent Home
As veteran American Idol fans know, no matter how much viewers love certain contestants, there can only be one winner when it’s all said and done. Unfortunately, that means, every week, more fan-favorites will be packing their bags and going home.
This is especially true as this season of American Idol is getting down to the nitty-gritty. In the most recent episode alone, more singers were cut from the competition. When it gets to this stage, the slightest mistake can be the difference between going home or sticking around. So, the margin for error is non-existent.

The pressure was on for American Idol performers.
