After earning rave reviews on the festival scene before landing in theaters last month, Love Lies Bleeding, a revenge thriller from Saint Maud director Rose Glass, has released at home on VOD this week.
Love Lies Bleeding is now available for digital purchase ($24.99) and rental ($19.99)! We’ve also learned that the film is coming to Blu-ray on June 6, 2024.
Katy O’Brian stars alongside Kristen Stewart (Underwater) in the new film from A24, which is said to be “a romance fueled by ego, desire and the American Dream.”
I wrote in my Sundance review, “With a visionary at the helm and an impressive cast willing to follow along with every wild turn thrown at them, Love Lies Bleeding makes for a captivating ‘80s set crime thriller unafraid to get deeply weird and ultra-violent.” Expect things to get weird and violent: “That it devolves into madness, complete with humor and surreal imagery, means...

Big news for the "They don't make 'em like they used to" crowd: They just did and, as those who were paying attention know, it's been playing in theaters nationwide for weeks now. "Love Lies Bleeding" lies at the crossroads between a throwback '80s noir and a queer romance that's unabashedly of its time, with both aspects coming together to create an intoxicating mix that's mighty difficult to resist. Starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian as a pair of star-crossed lovers who wind up right in the crosshairs of a local crime lord, director Rose Glass' iron-pumping, steroid-injecting, and thoroughly sweat-dripping thriller is one of those movies that practically leaps off the screen and swallows audiences up in the grime and muck of its world.

Now You See Me is arguably one of the most underrated heist-thriller franchises of the past decade: despite its high production budgets, star-studded ensemble cast, and absolute commercial success at the global box office, the films have barely been mentioned in the media and on social media platforms nearly 8 years after the release of the second installment.
However, from 2020 to 2023, Lionsgate has been actively releasing information about the upcoming sequel, teasing fans of the film series with updates on the production process. And now, just over a week ago, the media giant announced that Now You See Me 3 is already in post-production, and with that came exciting details about the upcoming cast.
What makes this news so exciting is that Lionsgate will be correcting a mistake that disappointed audiences with the release of the second film, as one of the central and certainly incredibly memorable characters was not able to reprise their role.

Now You See Me 3 is gearing up to roll cameras this year and Dominic Sessa, Justice Smith and Ariana Greenblatt have joined the cast.
Now You See Me 3 is coming out way sooner rather than later as Jesse Eisenberg confirmed that cameras would roll sometime this year. The sequel has been in the works for years, but it seems that it’s truly happening now.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt have joined the ensemble cast. Their roles, like the film’s plot, is still being kept under wraps, but one would imagine they might play a new generation of magicians.
Eisenberg seems to be on board and the previous films’ cast, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson and Morgan Freeman are also expected to reprise their roles, but this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.
Now You See Me 3 will be released by Lionsgate.

Ariana Greenblatt, who appeared opposite Margot Robbie in last year’s Barbie, will be pulling a rabbit out of her hat.
The actress is joining the ensemble cast of Now You See Me 3, Lionsgate’s long-in-the-works installment of its heist caper thrillers.
Many of the original cast — Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco — are expected to return. The original movies also starred Morgan Freeman and Mark Ruffalo, although it’s not clear if those two will return.
Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie, which garnered a mention last week at Lionsgate’s presentation at CinemaCon.
Lionsgate had no comment on the casting, and it’s unclear who wrote the script. Seth Grahame-Smith, the genre scribe behind The Lego Batman Movie and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Eric Warren have penned drafts over the years.

As previously announced by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake in an investor call last year, Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will helm the movie. At the time, Drake described the sequel as a “reimagining” of the first two films and said production was slated for this spring.
Last month, star Jesse Eisenberg gave another update, telling Collider that he had already read the script for Now You See Me 3. He also speculated production could begin in “the next six months.”
Directed by Louis Leterrier, the original Now You See Me was released in 2013 and starred Eisenberg as the leader of the Four Horsemen, a group of bank-robbing magicians also comprised of Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher,...

Tom Cruise’s new movie, Mission: Impossible 8, is in the process of being filmed, and the sequel to last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One promises to deliver us yet another action-packed installment. And while the release date has been pushed back a whole year, updates are coming in quickly, and we have learned that Katy O’Brian has joined the movie cast in an unspecified role, as of the time of writing.
This piece of information is definitely welcome, as O’Brian has recently received praise for playing Jackie in the romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding alongside Kristen Stewart, with Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov, Dave Franco, and Ed Harris also starring. Disney and MCU fans might know O’Brian from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, appearing as Jetorra, but also from The Mandalorian, where O’Brien played the treacherous Elia Kane. Now You See Me Part 1 and Part 2 are liked by almost everyone, and Fans are waiting for Part 3 of the movie and I’m one of them.
Originally when the news dropped in 2016, fans were left in a tizzy out of excitement. But that excitement soon fizzled out thanks to the immense delay.
Several years later, news of the third installment seems to again be making headlines. Here’s everything that we know about it!
The debut movie was a glossy thriller that involved an excellent team of magicians called ‘The Horsemen’ who were renowned for pulling off daring heists using their skills of illusion, hypnosis, and sleight-of-hand.
Now You See Me dazzled the world with its originally crafted concept, a strong ensemble cast, and basically, was an overall hit – despite what some critics had to say about it. The sequel found a similar type of success and before we knew it,...

[Editor’s note: The following article contains major spoilers for “Love Lies Bleeding.”]
Rose Glass‘ “Love Lies Bleeding” is one of the best thrillers in years thanks to its complex characterizations, richly observed sense of period detail and locale, and fearless blend of sex, violence, and fantasy. One of its greatest strengths is its ability to keep surprising the audience with plot twists and images that are organic yet shocking, often executed with stunningly original makeup and visual effects. “I like all of the visceral, violent, bloody, gooey stuff,” Glass told IndieWire. “I like films that make you feel something physically, whether that’s revulsion or arousal.”
Special effects makeup supervisor Bryan Perkal played a key role in creating three of the biggest surprises and most startling moments in “Love Lies Bleeding”: the reveal that heroine Lou’s sister has been brutally beaten by her husband; the discovery of the husband’s grotesquely mutilated body; and the murder of...

Lou (Kristen Stewart) lives a remotely modest life, working as a gym manager in a small town in New Mexico. She soon meets Jackie (Katy O’Brien), an ambitious bodybuilder with dreams of competing in Las Vegas. As the two grow closer, Lou’s family dynamics take over their lives, leading to disastrous consequences.
Let’s begin by stating the obvious — Rose Glass’ work in Love Lies Bleeding has changed the lesbian canon of cinema forever. Even in 2024, a shrewd, meaningful sapphic movie that doesn’t try to be sexual for the sake of pleasure is terribly hard to come by, with golden nuggets such as Carol and Disobedience passing muster. While these often-tragic love stories are all well and good, Glass has doubled down on her unique offerings by incorporating genre and nuanced scope,...

Kristen Stewart’s Love Lies Bleeding co-star Katy O’Brian is breaking down how their characters’ sex scenes came together and how filming them is far from “sexy,” as some may believe.
In an interview with People magazine, the former police officer and competitive bodybuilder explained that a lot of not-so-sexy work went into her intimate scenes with Stewart’s Lou and Dave Franco’s JJ in the A24 film.

Love Lies Bleeding director Rose Glass, who also sat down with the publication, shared that, before production begins, the actors and intimacy coordinators discuss what they’re comfortable with and exactly what will happen in the scene.

Equal parts romantic horror movie, revenge thriller and twisted, small town family drama, Rose Glass’s second feature after Saint Maud, is a midnight movie for the arthouse crowd, complete with Hollywood stars doing wild and crazy things all in the name of intense body horror. Set in the late 1980s, the film stars Katy O’Brian as Jackie, a woman making her way through the American Southwest en route to a bodybuilding competition in Las Vegas. In New Mexico, Jackie picks up a job as a waitress at a tacky shooting range run by […]

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains major spoilers for “Love Lies Bleeding” and its ending.]
If you’ve already seen “Love Lies Bleeding,” there are surely a few images from the film you’re still scraping off your brain. Rose Glass’ 1980s Southwest-set midnight movie centers on the volatile but nevertheless unavoidable romance between Lou (Kristen Stewart), a bored lesbian gym manager, and Jackie (Katy O’Brian), the ‘roid-raging bodybuilder who sweeps into town to save Lou from her small-town ennui.
But as the pair fall in love, the corpses pile up — and so do the heads as, after a steroid-addled Jackie brutally murdered the be-mulleted wife-beater JJ (Dave Franco), who’s married to the abuse-dazed Beth (Jena Malone), who also happens to be Lou’s sister. Meanwhile, hanging over everything is Lou and Beth’s father, the gnarly, bug-eating gangster Lou Sr. (Ed Harris), with his share of secrets, in the form of bodies and smuggled arms in the depths of a nearby canyon.

When you come across a movie like Love Lies Bleeding, it’s more than a pleasant surprise. Frankly, I walked into the screening knowing nothing about the film. That was a treat. Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian are fantastic as lovers with a little revenge on the mind. It also features terrific performances from both Dave Franco and especially, the great Ed Harris. Rose Glass has crafted a smart and thrilling feature that showcases two electric performances from both Stewart and O’Brian. Love Lies Bleeding is currently in theatres and it’s the kind of movie you may want to seek out Asap.
It’s always fantastic to talk with Kristen Stewart. There is something about a no-nonsense kind of interview, and she is always terrific. For her latest, I sat down with Kristen, Katy O’Brian, and Rose Glass. The three talked about creating these rich characters, and...

Ready for a cinematic “walk on the wild side”? Perhaps something in the film noir category, but not similar to something you’d run across on one of those nostalgia streaming channels. Maybe something set just before the turn of the century rather than the decade post-wwii. Sure, this new flick is a crime thriller involving multiple murders, but that’s just one aspect. Let’s see, there’s a big (truly huge) daughter/father conflict so it’s a family drama. And it’s certainly a romance ala’ girl meets girl. Oh, and one of them is seeking fame in the competitive world of female bodybuilding events. Now, that’s really different and certainly unique. Mix all those genres and subplots together and you get an insight into the provocative title, Love Lies Bleeding.
Oh, the backdrop year is in the 20th century, way back in 1989. We first meet...

One of the big casualties of the 2020 pandemic was the horror movie Saint Maud, whose release was delayed by almost a full year. Despite its delay, the film was still a hit with fans, and many have been waiting even more patiently to see what writer/director Rose Glass would do next. That wait is over. Her newest movie, Love Lies Bleeding, is here.
Set in New Mexico in the 1980s, Love Lies Bleeding is about a young woman named Lou (Spencer’s Kristen Stewart) who befriends a female bodybuilder named Jackie (Katy O’Brian from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) who is passing through town on her way to a competition in Las Vegas. The pair strikes up a relationship that leads them to mischief, mayhem, and murder involving Lou’s father (Ed Harris from...

Over the last ten years, we’ve seen these platforms become easily accessible to anyone and everyone. Almost a decade ago, actress Kristen Stewart shared how she feared that someone from a social media platform might kill her.
In 2012, when Kristen Stewart was just 22, she talked about how, because of social media, people might always know where she is. In author Talia Soghomonion’s e-book called ‘Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner – In Their Own Words’, the Twilight actress said, “Nowadays it’s harder because everyone is on Facebook and everyone knows where you are all the time, and everyone’s twittering. Steven Lightfoot Developing ‘Scot Harvath’ Books For Sony Pictures Television Under New Overall Deal
Exclusive: Steven Lightfoot has been tapped to develop a series adaptation of the Scot Harvath books from New York Times bestseller Brad Thor, under a relatively fresh overall deal with Sony Pictures Television that has previously gone unreported, Deadline has learned.
We’re told that the deal for scripted drama development across cable and streaming came together last year, ahead of the WGA strike. As previously reported, Lightfoot is also currently in business with the studio as co-showrunner alongside Oren Uziel of Sony Pictures Television’s untitled Spider-Man Noir series, based on the Marvel comic, for MGM+ and Prime Video.
In addition to scripting the as-yet-untitled Scot Harvath series, Lightfoot is exec producing alongside Thor; the John Wick franchise’s Chad Stahelski and his colleagues Alex Young and Jason Spitz at 87Eleven Entertainment; Shaun Redick & Yvette Yates Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment; Scott Cross & Sean Cross of Cross Pictures,...

In 2024’s bizarre bid to become the year of the underwear, Kristen Stewart is the latest celeb to go pantsless. Since brief-focused looks debuted on runways last year, many stars have been spotted at fashion shows and red carpets sans trousers.
Most recently, Sydney Sweeney debuted bedazzled briefs at the Miu Miu presentation during Paris Fashion Week. Kiernan Shipka also wore underwear (cable knit with a matching cardigan) to the Chloé runway show. Now, Stewart has jumped on the trend, going pantless twice this March (so far). See her looks here:

Magician heist sequel Now You See Me 3 – in the works for years – is finally set to begin filming in the next six months according to star Jesse Eisenberg.
Proving that time itself is a dark illusion, it’s now over a decade since the original Now You See Me materialised in cinemas. Directed by Louis Leterrier, its magician-based twist on the knock-about heist format – a kind of Oceans 11 with wands – made it a decent hit, spawning a miniature franchise.
According to Jesse Eisenberg, who recently spoke to Collider, Now You See Me 3 – a sequel talked about as long ago as 2015 – is finally due to get underway this year.
Responding that he’s read the script, Eisenberg told the outlet that “Hopefully it will happen in the next six months,” and added that “it’s really great.”

Kristen Stewart knows that she doesn’t look her best in ’80s pulp fiction “Love Lies Bleeding,” British filmmaker Rose Glass‘ follow-up to her breakout debut “Saint Maud.” Oscar nominee Stewart (“Spencer”) gives her best performance to date as Lou, who we meet with her gloved hand down a toilet. She’s a shut-down, unhappy lesbian, hungry for something more, who runs a gym and sports a stringy mullet. She comes to life when she falls in love with bodybuilder Jackie (Katy O’Brian). Things take a violent turn as Lou’s past comes back to haunt her. And feeding Jackie steroids to help her win an upcoming contest in Las Vegas may not have been the smartest move.
From the script stage, Stewart saw Lou clearly. “It’s like an adult comic book,” she said on Zoom. “When I think about the characters, I can imagine the line-drawing version of them.

This Love Lies Bleeding article contains spoilers.
In Love Lies Bleeding, A24’s new neo-noir thriller from director/co-writer Rose Glass (Saint Maud), Kristen Stewart (Spencer) and Katy O’Brian (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) play Lou and Jackie, two women who fall frantically in love with each other after meeting at the ramshackle gym that Lou manages in a small, dying New Mexico town circa 1989.
Jackie is a bodybuilder, on her way to Las Vegas for a national competition, who uses her formidable physique to both intimidate men and get what she needs from them; Lou is the daughter of the gym’s owner, Lou Sr. (Ed Harris), a local crime lord who also runs illegal guns and has a pervasive grip on both the town and his daughter. Rose Glass is back with a vengeance in her sweat-slick ode to American underbelly tales, Love Lies Bleeding. The Saint Maud filmmaker returns with a brawny psychological thriller that isn't afraid to get weird or take risks, which is both a warning and encouragement. Kristen Stewart and Katy O'Brian unsurprisingly flex their talents while wrestling with every twist and turn in Glass' queer criminal caper, gorgeously shot like high art meets a weightlifting competition. It's gritty like grip chalk and obscure in measured doses, comparable to something illicit like Jim Mickle's Cold in July splashed with Glass' exciting penchant for surrealist pops in an otherwise grounded narrative.
Kristen Stewart stars as reclusive Crater Gym manager Lou, who takes an immediate shine to the beefy and beautiful bodybuilder Jackie (Katy O'Brian). One thing leads to another, and Jackie ends up romantically entangled with Lou, shacked together while Jackie trains for a competition in Las Vegas.

A24 is back in select theaters this week with Love Lies Bleeding, a revenge thriller from Saint Maud director Rose Glass that earned rave reviews on the festival scene.
Fresh off the World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2024, Love Lies Bleeding is coming to theaters March 8. A new behind the scenes featurette that includes interviews with the cast teases some of the extreme violence and weirdness ahead.

Review: Rose Glass’s Love Lies Bleeding is a dark, stylized, ultra-mean-spirited neo-noir. It skates on the edge of perhaps being a little too self-aware for its good in the surreal finale, but it’s still a very entertaining and twisty thriller.
Kristen Stewart is perfectly cast as the laconic noir anti-hero who hooks up now and then with a girl (Anna Baryshnikov), she can’t stand but otherwise leads a lonely life with her cat. Being set in 1989, the constantly smoking Lou is trying to quit with books on tape that have little to no effect, only for her life to be blown up when she sets her eyes on Katy...

Ever since Rose Glass set cinemas alight in 2019 with her feature directorial debut, Saint Maud, there has been great excitement for what is next and Love Lies Bleeding does not disappoint.
It is bold, brutal and in some parts ridiculous, but even those elements work well with the grounded world Glass has created. Nothing is approached with a half-measure – especially the violence and sex.
Opening the 20th edition of the Glasgow Film Festival (Gff), it comes as no surprise it sold out speedy-quick in what is its UK premiere.
This ’80s romance-thriller doesn’t really feel like your typical movie set in that decade. This is a dark, almost bleak, setting of a small town in Albuquerque. You aren’t battling against an avalanche of the usual cliché styles, colour, sounds and fashion of the era.
It’s grounded with its own style and stays clear of tropes. If it...

In great times of despair, come great surprises.
That’s what happened in early 2022 as the specialty box office was looking to regain its footing after the Omicron variant: Just when we thought all was lost, A24 showed up with a rare gem, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and provided arthouses some much-needed heat. The movie grossed $77M stateside, the best ever for A24.
In the wake of two strikes leaving their brutal marks on the box office, arthouses could use a savior again.
Rose Glass wows at Sundance.
And that could be with A24’s steroid- filled lesbian love crime spree action thriller, Love Lies Bleeding from filmmaker Rose Glass. The movie hits theaters in limited release on March 8 and goes wide on March 15. If anything, A24 knows how to harness cool and expand an audience for it. In fact, many moviegoers are mere fans of the brand alone...

Maximalist horror-comedy has become such a mainstay of 21st-century indie cinema that a late-’80s-set lesbian romance that uses schlocky gore tinged with meta humor to figuratively explore the tumult of new love is hardly as outré as it would have seemed a decade ago. Rose Glass’s Love Lies Bleeding, with its hyper-saturated, giallo-evoking cinematography and lapses into fantastical imagery, freely plays with the boundaries of realism. This hyper-stylization, accompanied by a steady score of growling synths, packs some punches, but that isn’t to say that we can’t see a fair portion of them coming.
The small but tough Lou (Kristen Stewart) appears to be one of only two workers at a grimy gym, Crater’s, in middle-of-nowhere America. We meet her as she’s digging through vomit that’s clogged the gym’s toilet, a seemingly common occurrence at this sweaty den of muscled men, which...
