In "Furie," Veronica Ngô stars as an ex-gangster in a desperate situation. "Furies" takes Ngô from in front of the camera and puts her in the director's chair of the action-heavy prequel headed to Netflix. An early 2000s vibe about seedy gangland colorfulness nods to an adrenaline junkie wave that birthed titles such as "Smokin' Aces" or "Shoot 'Em Up," which isn't a complaint. Ngô orchestrates a sleaze-filled yet feminine action brawler that flips the script on once prevalent subgenre gender norms, unfazed — better yet, empowered — by the task. The hyper-intensive style favorably reminds of "Sin City" minus black and white, or even as recently as "Bullet Train," how Saigon becomes drenched in neons like Nicolas Winding Refn's got a hold of lighting rigs.
Ngô also plays Jaqueline, the gracious leader of an underground assassin squad composed of girls who've endured unspeakable abuse under male-dominated societal norms. Bi (played...

The title “Monsoon” implies a furious deluge of sorts, but there’s nothing overly dramatic on the face of writer-director Hong Khaou’s film of that name. The film feels like more of a gentle, melancholy rain, accompanied by a mist that makes things indistinct and foggy. Emotionally, the thunder may be there beneath the surface, but it’s well hidden by characters who’d rather quietly search than scream for answers.
And the film is elusive as well. Khaou, six years after his debut feature “Lilting,” has made another drama that crosses cultures and looks for home and family in the gentlest of ways. “Monsoon” is a lyrical, ambiguous reverie, maddening at times and beautifully resonant at others; it’s quietly disorienting, but deeply felt.
The film begins with an overhead shot of an intersection in Ho Chi Minh City, which was named Saigon when Kit lived there as a child.

With multiple characters to service and timelines to tackle, “This Is Us” is not an easy show to produce. Now creator Dan Fogelman has added another ambitious wrinkle to production: Vietnam.
Starting with this week’s episode, “Vietnam,” “This Is Us” dives deep into the story of Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) and his tour of duty in 1971. In particular, the flashbacks will showcase the relationship between Jack and his younger brother Nicky (Michael Angarano), who also served — and ultimately died in combat.
“Vietnam” is a departure from the normal “This Is Us” storytelling, which usually shifts from the present-day stories of Jack’s now-grown children to flashbacks of Jack and wife Rebecca (Mandy Moore). In this episode, the story begins with the moment Jack finally reunited with Nicky at war, before traveling in reverse to tell the story of how Nicky got drafted, their home life with an abusive father,...

Danny Boyle’s “attachment” to Bond 25 could very well be short-lived as sources have revealed that the T2 Trainspotting director could actually drop the project to work on a musical.
Only last month it was revealed that Boyle and his T2 Trainspotting scribe John Hodge had been set a task to draft an outline of the Bond 25 screenplay over the next few months for the next Bond adventure for Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. However, news has emerged that Boyle is keen to take on the musical which is based on a struggling UK musician in the 60’s and 70’s.
Based on the music of The Beatles, the project has a script by Love Actually’s Richard Curtis. If casting plans go well – Himesh Patel, the actor who played Tamwar Masood in EastEnders, has been cast to play the up-and-coming musician – executives are looking to film this summer.

New York-based actors Jackie Nguyen and Nate Huntley have spent years channeling different characters. So, when it came time for their engagement photo shoot, the pair knew they had to go all out.
“When we were planning out our engagement photos, Jackie was like, ‘I don’t wanna do the normal engagement shoot where we’re standing hand-in-hand, like the Nicholas Sparks, almost-kissing look,’ ” Huntley, 26, tells People.
“Instead, she had this idea that we would take those kinds of photos, but dressed up as … like Thor and Harry Potter. But then it kind of evolved into, like, ‘who else should we be?...

A few thoughts on tonight's Halt and Catch Fire coming up just as soon as I ask a racecar to adapt to a covered wagon... We're now getting into the heart of my busiest time of the year, but I want to keep covering Halt whenever possible, so some weeks, like this one, it may just be a few bullet points to try to spark discussion to the precious few of you still watching the show. (And, no, I have no idea if the lower ratings means this season is it, since I was surprised AMC renewed it last time, and since Joel Stillerman told me that their ownership of the series gives them financial incentive to keep it around even with low ratings. The question is, how low can it go and survive?) * Last year, it seemed as if the show's directors seemed most excited whenever they got to...

Rapper Saigon -- Turtle's hip hop phenom from "Entourage" -- isn't unhinged by the recent Poltergeisty accidents on the movie set ... he tells TMZ, a movie curse could actually be a good thing. As we reported, Kevin Connolly broke his leg on set last week, Kevin Dillon broke his wrist shortly before filming, and a crew member's dog was run over by a car -- but Saigon believes all the weird coincidences will translate into...

The blokes who flex their muscles in Ultimate Fighting Championship and mixed martial arts events are mostly a larger-than-life blend of showmanship and brawn – which explains why they’re increasingly being snapped up by Hollywood. With more and more Mma fighters moving into the movies, I thought I’d take a look at some of the biggest names to have made the crossover.
Tony Schiena
Winner of numerous Mma trophies around the globe, Schiena flexed his acting chops in Locked Down as a framed cop who winds up in jail and is forced into cage fighting by none other than Brit hardman turned thesp Vinnie Jones. Schiena retired from sport after breaking both his ankles (ouch!) but has since found his feet on the big screen working with everyone from Pacino to Van Damme.

Cung Le is a fighting machine, anyone who steps in his way will feel the full force of his brutal back kick and many wont be getting up from it. I have always been impressed with his fighting ability and whenever he enters the octagon he always brings 100% to each fight, which makes him an exciting fighter to watch.

Cung Le, a Vietnamese American, was born in Saigon, South Vietnam (now Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam). In 1975, three days before the Fall of Saigon, Cung Le and his mother Anne left Vietnam by helicopter under heavy gunfire. He ended up in San Jose,...

As the end of HBO’s Entourage has come and passed (pending possible movie adaptation plans), we are left with a huge void to fill in our TV viewing. However, why should the fun end with HBO’s decision to bring the series to an end? Let’s take an in-depth look at the fictitious films Vinny Chase participated in and let you decide which would have been the most wanted film!
Lets begin where it all started….
A Walk To Remember
Although we don’t get to see Vinny’s role in this movie is a large influence on his Aquaman participation was based on his onset romance with co-star Mandy Moore. This is our one and only film that is not fictitious and has actually come to fruition. Vinny’s role was a small role.

On Wednesday, during another fresh edition of "RapFix Live" — which featured super producer Just Blaze on the couch and Atlanta Mc Soulja Boy via Skype — Brooklyn's own Saigon delighted viewers with tales of his ups and downs in the rap game.
Some fans will remember Sai, a charismatic rapper with a checkered past, from his guest appearances on the HBO hit show "Entourage." Appearing on a handful of episodes between 2005 and 2006, Saigon played a version of himself as an up-and-coming rapper who was under the managerial tutelage of Turtle (Jerry Ferrara).

Last week's "RapFix Live" was filled with fireworks and controversy after visits from Lil B, Pharoahe Monch and Consequence, and this week looks to be just as exciting as rapper Saigon and producer Just Blaze are set to drop by the "RapFix" studio on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Et.
Locked up as a youth, Sai got his rapping start in the NYC mixtape scene in the early 2000s. After a memorable street run, Saigon compiled the best of his mixtape material on the independent retail release Warning Shots in 2004. The Mc would later hook up with hip-hop super-producer Just Blaze, sign to Atlantic Records and see his official debut LP, The Greatest Story Never Told, become one of rap's most anticipated releases.

The title of Saigon’s endlessly delayed debut, The Greatest Story Never Told, has long felt prophetic: the album was scheduled to be released in 2007 on Atlantic, but is only now being released independently. The gifted political rapper/Entourage supporting player (the two invariably go together) blamed the incendiary nature of his lyrics for Atlantic’s reluctance to release the album, and while that might sound like self-serving spin, there’s no denying the righteous anger behind this impassioned manifesto. The pummeling intensity of Saigon’s insightful, urgently delivered lyrics are matched by the gutbucket soul of Just Blaze ...

Rapper Saigon has taken to the streets of New York to hand out blankets to the homeless as the city is plunged into freezing temperatures. The native New Yorker, whose rise to fame was boosted with a guest spot on hit TV series "Entourage", has been working with The Bowery Mission Homeless Shelter in downtown Manhattan to help those less fortunate during the wintry conditions, reports AllHipHop.com.
He says, "Me and some friends of mine, the Ahujas that (sic) own a garment manufacturing company, took to the very cold streets of NYC over these past couple of nights to hand out warm blankets to help the homeless stay warm."
New York was hit by a snow blizzard on Wednesday, January 26 and it's set to get worse - weathermen predict the city will be covered in eight to 12 inches (20 to 30 centimetres) of snowfall by Thursday morning, with temperatures falling to...
