They highlight three separate budding turf wars: Lucky Luciano clashing with Joe Masseria in the New York heroin trade, Al Capone involved in a South Side Vs. The season premiere of Boardwalk Empire found each of the characters heading toward new beginnings, either personally or professionally. After airing only one episode HBO has renewed it's new series Boardwalk Empire for a second season! And why wouldn't they? The show is freakin' awesome!
On Sunday the new series attracted 4.8 million viewers to become the cable network's most-watched show premiere since the 2004 debut of Deadwood. According to the HBO press release:
Following resounding critical approval and high viewer numbers for the series' September 19 debut, HBO has renewed Boardwalk Empire for a second season.
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo had this to say in a statement.
The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing.
The incredible series comes from producers Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter, and it stars Steve Buscemi, Anna Katarina, Michael Pitt and more.
