Robert Rodriguez's sequel to the movie that began life as a fake trailer makes its way to DVD and Blu-ray...
Machete Kills is a rare beast indeed, a sequel that manages to surpass its predecessor in pretty much every way. When the rather superb Robert Rodriguez announced that we’d be getting a sequel to his grindhouse-trailer-turned-movie, Machete, I have to say that my heart sank a little. It wasn’t just because the first film had left me a little disappointed after all it promised, but because it seemed like a terrible shame that Rodriguez would choose to make a franchise out of his least impressive feature, while the much yearned for Sin City 2 (and even Predators if you count his hands on approach to producing) was left languishing on the shelf.
So it was with absolute apprehension that I approached Machete Kills,...

If you thought Danny Trejo’s Machete wouldn’t be back for more bloodshed at the end of Robert Rodriguez’ Machete, then you’ve clearly never seen Machete. Example No. 1: The former Federale returns in Machete Kills, freed from a rope noose at the request of the President of the United States of America to kill. Other stuff, too. (Tacos, occasionally.) Michelle Rodriguez lost an eye? With Demián Bichir, Lady Gaga, and Carlos Estevez — yes, Charlie Sheen — with a big gun and a fancy new title: President.

Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, knife-fights, gun-toting presidents and bra-guns: It must be taco time. Director Robert Rodriguez ("Sin City," the "Spy Kids" films) promises all this and more grindhouse-style zaniness in the upcoming sequel "Machete Kills." The film's first trailer features Danny Trejo back in the title role he played in 2010's "Machete," plus Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, William Sadler, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Lady Gaga, and, as the president, a newcomer named "Carlos Estevez" (you win a brand new machete if you can guess who that is). Curiously, there's no mention of co-star Vanessa Hudgens. ...

Robert Rodriguez is clearly one sick and twisted film-making individual, but hey, it works.
The first trailer for his "Machete" follow-up titled "Machete Kills" is in, and it basically operates as a virtual Who's Who of the most oddball cats in Tinseltown.
Joining Danny Trejo for movie two of the "Grindhouse" spin-off series — which, let that seep in for just a second — are a bevy of randoms from across the entertainment biz spectrum, including Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, Vanessa Hudgens, Demian Bichir, Sofia Vergara, Antonio Banderas, Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, Michelle Rodriguez, Cuba Gooding Jr. and, reprising her resident hot chick role, Jessica Alba. That's, uh, quite the spread he's got for this bloody display.
And, naturally, there are some pretty awesome little highlights to parse through here. First, we were particularly amused by this bit with Carlos Estevez Charlie Sheen as one take-no-names Potus instructing someone off screen,...

Carlos Estevez, the actor formerly known as Charlie Sheen, is the President of the United States in Robert Rodriguez's "Machete Kills," and based on the first trailer, it appears that he's ready to take a very strong course of action. I saw the trailer for Machete Kills in the theater last weekend (During Fast & Furious 6) , and I literally cheered. Of course, I was the only one applauding. Well the trailer has finally hit the web, so hopefully that will get the word out to people.
Ex-Federale agent Machete is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man - he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
Starring Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir, Mel Gibson, and Carlos Estevez (you may know him as Charleen Sheen). Written and directed by Robert Rodriguez.

‘Machete Kills’ is the sequel to the faux-grindhouse “Mexplotation” film ‘Machete’ which was based on a trailer in the double-feature movie ‘Grindhouse.’ The first film was better than it had any right to be, plus had a bunch of eye-catching cameos like Lindsay Lohan (at the time, this was eye catching) and a cgi-nude Jessica Alba.
‘Machete Kills’ gets it’s trailer in Spanish first this time, which is all types of awesome, but also doesn’t mention cast member Carlos Estevez, Aka Charlie Sheen.
‘Machete Kills’ is directed by Robert Rodriguez, stars Danny Trejo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sofia Vergara, Lady GaGa, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Edward James Olmos, and Mel Gibson. It ‘Kills’ on September 13th.

For a sequel to a movie based on a fake trailer, Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills sure has a notable cast. Joining Danny Trejo this time is Lady Gaga, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Edward James Olmos, and Mel Gibson. Oh, and Carlos Estevez, a.k.a. The trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills has been playing in theaters for over a week already, but it has finally been released online. So if you haven't seen it yet, this is your chance. Machete is such a ridiculous over-the-top film franchise. I enjoyed the first film, and the sequel looks like it could be even crazier.

"Machete Kills," Robert Rodriguez' sequel to "Machete," is a real movie and this is its real cast: Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Lady Gaga, Mel Gibson, Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Charlie Sheen Carlos Estevez. Tommy Tune was presumably unavailable because of his duties on "Arrested Development."
Other than that, not much else to know about this one. Did you like the first "Machete"? Do you like Rodriguez' often charming mix of goofy, grindhouse ultra-violence and sneaky social commentary? Do you want to see what America would look like with Charlie Sheen acting as president? In that case, "Machete Kills" is your movie. Rodriguez and Trejo -- the title sharp object -- debuted the new "Machete Kills" trailer on Yahoo! En Espanol. Watch the trailer, with a Spanish-language introduction from Rodriguez and Trejo, above. His father Martin Sheen was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estevez and also changed his name to gain more exposure when he first started acting. His other son Emilio Estevez, however, uses his birth name in his profession.
Sheen has decided to make the change for the Robert Rodriguez-directed film Machete Kills, which sees him play the Us president. He has decided to drop his screen name in order to "get into the mood" of the Latino action thriller and revert to his Latin American roots, says Contactmusic.
It will be the first time Sheen hasn't used his screen name during his professional career.

It’s a small item, but one that I kind of dig. In Robert Rodriguez’s next film Machete Kills, Charlie Sheen will not be billed as Charlie Sheen, but rather with his Spanish patronymic Estevez.
TMZ, that most dependable of celebrity gossip rags, picked up a screencap from Machete Kills that introduces Sheen as ‘Carlos Estevez’ – much as Don Johnson was ‘introduced’ in the original film Machete. But Sheen of course has a good claim on that name. He actually is an Estevez, just like his brothers and father. Daddy Martin Sheen never officially changed his name from Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez.
The name change is a cute little addition for Machete Kills and might even help to distance Sheen from his less than stellar public persona over the past few years. Although, like Lindsay Lohan in Machete, I think it’s that very persona that might have landed Sheen the role.

He never changed it leaglly, so passed on the Estevez name, from his Spainish father's side of the family, to his children. There's no word on whether this is the first and last time we will see the actor billed as Carlos Estevez. via TMZ The sequel, which sees Danny Trejo's anti hero forced by the U.S. Government to take down an insane arms dealer with acess to a terrifying space weapon, is released on the 13th of September.

Adios, Charlie Sheen! After more than three decades in show business, the 47-year-old actor will use his birth name, Carlos Estevez, in director Robert Rodrigeuz's upcoming movie Machete Kills. Ironically, the Anger Management star admitted he hasn't fully embraced his Spanish heritage during a 2012 Univision interview. "I don't wake up feeling Latino. I'm a white guy in America," he explained. "I was born in New York and grew up in Malibu." "I wish I spoke more Spanish. I'm sure I can learn, but there hasn't been a [...]...

London, May 25: Charlie Sheen will use his birth name- Carlos Estevez- for his next film, as "it goes with the Latino feel of the movie".
The former 'Two And A Half Men' star's actor father Martin Sheen, 72, who was born Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez, had admitted that he regrets not sticking with his name, the Daily Star reported.

A movie source told the publication that the name-changing gig is just for this one film.

Los Angeles, May 25 (Ians/Efe) For the first time in his career, Charlie Sheen will use his real name, Carlos Estevez, in the credits of the movie "Machete Kills", a decision that contrasts a past statement that he does not feel "Latino".

Charlie's dad, Martin Sheen, the son of a Spanish immigrant to the Us, was born Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez. He called himself Martin Sheen to get work as an actor, but never legally changed his name.

Sure, most of TMZ's stories revolve around rappers getting busting for one thing or another and the latest exploits of the Kardashians, but when we saw this latest news about Robert Rodriguez's Matchete Kills and the name under which Charlie Sheen is being credited, well, we just had to share!
Per the tabloid, Sheen has apparently decided he's too Caucasian to star in the new Machete film so he's channeling his Latino roots and changing his name back to Carlos Estevez... at least for now. TMZ obtained the below screengrab from the upcoming flick that shows Sheen will use his birth name, the first time in his professional career he won't be billed as Charlie Sheen.
Sheen’s dad, Martin, was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estevez but never changed it legally, passing "Estevez" on to all four of his kids, including, of course, Emilio, who has retained the family name throughout his career.

Oh hello there, Charlie Sheen -- or shall we say, Carlos Estevez. The "Two and a Half Men" actor has decided to go back to his birth name of Carlos Estevez for his movie "Machete Kills."
For those who don't know, Charlie Sheen is just a made-up name Estevez took up after his father, Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez, changed his name to Martin Sheen.
Charlie's brother Emilio decided to keep their family name, Estevez, and it now appears as if Sheen has decided to follow suit.
In the flick, the 47-year-old was cast as President of the United States along Lady Gaga, Amber Heard, Vanessa Hudgens, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba and Danny Trejo. Since Robert Rodriguez, director of "Machete Kills," is known for his latin pride, Sheen decided to be Estevez.

Charlie Sheen has reportedly decided to get back to his roots by using his given name for his role in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez movie "Machete Kills."
TMZ has obtained a picture from the credits, which shows Sheen being billed as "Carlos Estevez," which is the name he was born with. Sheen has never gone by that name in his professional career.
Actor Martin Sheen, Charlie's father, was born Ramon Estevez, as his father, Francisco Estevez Martinez, was from Spain. The elder Sheen said in an interview 10 years ago that he adopted the stage name "Martin Sheen" because he had trouble getting acting jobs with the Spanish name, but he never changed it legally, which means all four of Sheen's children have Estevez as a last name. It's something Sheen said he regrets.

Charlie Sheen appears in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez film "Machete Kills," he's just not using the name Charlie Sheen. According to TMZ, Sheen is credited in "Machete Kills" with his birth name, Carlos Estevez.
Sheen has said in the past that he took the name Charlie when he was a kid to avoid confusion with an uncle who was also named Carlos. Sheen's father, Martin Sheen, was born with the name Ramon Antonio Gerardo Estevez; according to the New York Times, the 72-year-old acting legend took the stage name of Sheen as a tribute to Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. He also hoped it would get him more acting parts. Sheen never legally changed his name, however, and passed the Estevez name down to his four children, including to his son, actor Emilio Estevez.

Charlie Sheen's abuse of his bosses, flaunting of his sex life and Twitter psychobabble have made endless headlines, but mask a sad story of violence and abuse
For one small radio station, desperate for publicity and better ratings, getting actor Charlie Sheen on air must have seemed worth any stunt. So the producers at Wired 96.5 FM in Philadelphia hired a plane to fly over the actor's Beverly Hills home, trailing a banner that announced its love for him and included a phone number. "Call us 4 ur next role," it said.
Sheen, of course, spotted the plane last Thursday morning. So he called in. Twice. And so a previously obscure radio station thousands of miles from Sheen's home inserted itself into the orgy of coverage of his spectacularly public apparent breakdown. U.S. funnyman Jimmy Fallon has poked fun at Charlie Sheen by posing as the troubled actor and reciting his now-infamous catchphrases for a sketch on his American TV show.
The actor has been a regular headline-grabber over the last few weeks after launching a Twitter account and signing up for numerous interviews to talk about his tumultuous personal life.
Sheen's antics have now been satirised in front of millions of viewers in an episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Thursday.
Fallon dressed up as the former Two And A Half Men star to make a fake commercial for a fragrance named Winning, staring into the camera and chain-smoking as he reeled off some of Sheen's recent remarks.
He introduced the cologne as "the delightful aromas of sweat, cigarettes and denial" and says as 'Sheen', "Adonis DNA. I'm a b**chin rock star. Blood of a tiger... I'm like Zeus in a Speedo... I'm going to embrace my life. I'm going to put both arms around it and love it violently and defend it violently through violent hatred... The only drug I'm on is Charlie Sheen... What's my name? Jimmy Fallon's "Saturday Night Live" days gave him plenty of opportunity to parody celebrities, but this may be his best one ever. If you close your eyes, he sounds exactly like Charlie Sheen. He looks like him, too.
Fallon aired this "ad" for Charlie Sheen's new fragrance (called "Winning," obviously) on Wednesday night, and it went viral fast. "The only drug I'm on is Charlie Sheen. I took a lot of Charlie Sheen. I'm going to embrace my life. I'm going to put both arms around it and love it, violently, and defend it violently through violent hatred," he says, using Sheen's words from his "20/20" special.
Our favorite part is when he pokes fun at Charlie for giving Chuck Lorre a hard time for not using his real name, Chaim Levine. "What's my real name? Carlos Estevez. Como se dice 'winning'?" he quips, cigarette dangling precariously from his lip.

Given all the hilariously outrageous comments Charlie Sheen has offered up over the last week, it was high time Jimmy Fallon put his stellar impressionist skills to work on the actor. On 'Late Night' (weeknights, 12:37Am Et on NBC), the host fashioned himself after Sheen in his epic 'Piers Morgan Tonight' interview (wearing NYC T-shirt, etc.), and channeled the TV star in an advertisement for his "cologne" called (very appropriately) Winning.
Between puffs on his cigarette, he shared a pensive stream of non sequiturs, i.e., familiar Sheen quotes with an added twist: "Adonis DNA. I'm a bitchin' rock star. Blood of a tiger.
