Sharon Stone claimed that she lost custody of her child in 2004 because of assumptions created by her brief nudity in the film Basic Instinct.
Stone made the claims Tuesday in a Table for Two podcast interview. Stone played Catherine Tramell in the film, a serial killer and love interest to Michael Douglas. She memorably flashes her interviewers in one scene, creating a sensation for a view that was rare in mainstream cinema.
“I lost custody of my child,” she said. “When the judge asked my child — my tiny little tiny boy — ‘Do you know your mother makes sex movies?,’ like, this kind of abuse by the system, this kind of abuse, that I was considered what kind of parent I was because I made that movie.”
Stone and her husband Phil Bronstein adopted a son in 2000. Newspaper editor Bronstein filed for divorce in 2003 and received custody of their child.

The fallout of starring in Basic Instinct stretched beyond star Sharon Stone’s career and into her personal life, the actress says.
In a new interview for iHeartRadio’s Table for Two podcast released on Monday, the Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning performer says that her brief nude scene in Paul Verhoeven’s 1992 film, which also starred Michael Douglas, was used against her in court by the judge determining custody of her adopted son, Roan.
“When the judge asked my child — my tiny little boy, ‘Do you know your mother makes sex movies?’ Like, this kind of abuse by the system — that I was considered what kind of parent I was because I made that movie,” Stone recalled.
As a result, she “lost custody of my child” for a shot, which she wrote in her memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, had been added to the film by Verhoeven without her full knowledge or consent.

Sharon Stone is speaking out on how erotic thriller “Basic Instinct” impacted her son’s life.

“I lost custody of my child,” Stone said during iHeartPodcast “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi” episode, citing her controversial reputation following the infamous “Basic Instinct” nude scene. “When the judge asked my child — my tiny little boy, ‘Do you know your mother makes sex movies?’ Like, this kind of abuse by the system — that I was considered what kind of parent I was, because I made that movie.”
Stone continued, “People are walking around with no clothes on at all on regular TV now and you saw maybe like a 16th of a second of possible nudity of me — and I lost custody of my child.

Basic Instinct has become a classic in the years since its 1992 release, but Sharon Stone felt the effects of the controversial film long after it hit theaters. In a new interview on the Table for Two podcast (via Variety), the actor even said the film influenced a judge to give primary custody of her son to her ex-husband following their divorce, “literally” breaking her heart.

Sharon Stone has recalled the backlash she endured after starring in Basic Instinct, including the legal consequences she claims it had.
Her breakout role in the 1992 erotic thriller as crime novelist Catherine Tramell – who seduces the detective (Michael Douglas) looking into her for the grisly murder of a rock star – led Stone to become one of Hollywood’s most popular sex symbols of the Nineties.
On a new episode of iHeartPodcast’s Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi, Stone spoke about the repercussions she faced after leading the film.
She said the worst consequence of all was losing custody of her then-eight-year-old adopted son, Roan Bronstein.
In 2004, Stone and her ex-husband Phil Bronstein were embroiled in a long-running legal battle over primary custody of Roan.
The now-64-year-old actor remembered the judge asking her son whether he knew “[his] mother makes sex movies”.

It's no secret that Sharon Stone looks decades younger than her age at 55. Whether it be her enviable bone structure, beauty routine or her on-and-off-again Argentine model boyfriend Martin Mica (oh, and he's also nearly 30 years younger), Stone appears to particularly defy her age on the cover of New You magazine, out on stands now.
In the magazine, the "Basic Instinct" actress talks candidly about this stage in her life, admitting that plastic surgery isn't necessary for her, though she's not one to judge. “I can’t tell you how many doctors try to sell me a facelift. I’ve even gone as far as having someone talk me into it, but when I went over and looked at pictures of myself, I thought, What are they going to lift?" she said. "Yes, I have come close— but, frankly, I think that in the art of aging well there’s...

A new Esquire report is making headlines for its in-depth profile of the Navy Seal Team Six member who shot and killed Osama bin Laden. The former Seal opened up to reporter Phil Bronstein about his role in the mission, but also about the hardships he has faced after he left the military in September 2012, including a months-long wait for his disability claim to be considered and a lack of health insurance.
The shooter says his health insurance halted the day he ended his service, but an article published by the U.S. military's independent newspaper, Stars and Stripes, rebuts that, noting that the Seal is automatically eligible for five years of free health care through the Department of Veteran Affairs.
On HuffPost Live Monday, Bronstein spoke about the time he spent with the shooter and how it took over a year of relationship-building to gain his trust for an interview.

“They torture the sh– out of people in this movie, don’t they? Everyone is chained to something.”
That’s how the man who actually shot and killed Osama bin Laden reacted when he saw Zero Dark Thirty, Kathryn Bigelow’s Best Picture-nominated film about the search for al Qaeda’s founder. The shooter is the subject of a lengthy new profile in Esquire that explores how he’s adjusting to civilian life after leaving Seal Team 6 — despite receiving no pension, healthcare, or extra protection for his family from the U.S. government or the military.

Actress Sharon Stone is the target of a lawsuit from a former live-in nanny alleging derogatory slurs, false accusations of stealing and termination without cause.
The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday, alleges that in 2010, Stone began subjecting Erlinda Elemen to slurs about her Filipino heritage, accent, food and Christian religion. The lawsuit also says that Stone requested Elemen stop talking to the children so that they wouldn't "talk like you."
Stone is also accused of ridiculing Elemen for attending church, and once forbidding her from reading the Bible in the actress' home.
The lawsuit alleges that things got worse for Elemen in January 2011. Stone paid her overtime for working during holidays and traveling, but the complaint says she later accused the nanny of "stealing" by accepting the overtime pay. After Elemen complained and refused to return the pay, Stone began reducing her hours and berating her in front of other staff.

Sharon Stone has opened up about the heartache she suffered after losing custody of her son, admitting she felt like a "broken" woman and prayed for help.
The Basic Instinct star and her now ex-husband Phil Bronstein adopted baby boy Roan in 2000, but they split three years later, and a judge ruled that Roan should remain primarily with his father, with Stone receiving visitation rights.
The actress admits the decision hit her hard and she struggled to contain her grief in public.
She tells Aarp magazine, "I would go to these (philanthropic) events where I had to get onstage. I would be in the wings, with people looking at me, my head on the floor, praying: 'God, please help me. I know I have to go out there and raise money. But I've lost my child, I've lost my health, I've lost everything.' I was just broken."
Stone tells the publication that Roan travels to Los Angeles for monthly weekend visits with her, and adds, "You have to get over those emotions and be a good mother. My main concern is that I support him, love him, and am steady."...

There are a lot of choice quotes from the interview with Diane Kruger in this month’s issue of Allure, but our favorite by far is the story about the time Kruger almost ran over Sharon Stone with a Segway. And we dug up the photos to prove it. Kruger explains that the incident occurred at a charity auction last year. She says: “I was at this auction last year for amfAR — a foundation for AIDS research — and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh [Jackson] and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and … I nearly killed Sharon Stone. I’m not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines: Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone.
