The Killers is an American rock band formed in 2001. Current members include lead vocalist Brandon Flowers, lead guitarist Dave Keuning, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and bassist Mark Stoermer.
The Killers’ 2004 debut, Hot Fuss, took influence from 80s synth pop and new wave and launched the band onto the international stage. It had four hit singles, including the band’s most recognizable song, “Mr. Brightside”.
Their most recent album, Pressure Machine, marked a significant change from their usual style, stripping away their anthemic tunes for a darker and more restrained sound.

After a week that’s seen Korn frontman Jonathan Davis and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson contract Covid, and everyone from Garth Brooks and Neil Young to BTS and Nine Inch Nails cancel live events due to concerns about the virus, it briefly seemed like the Killers warmup show at New York’s Terminal 5 was in real jeopardy when a man who identified himself as the band’s doctor came onstage at the top of the night to address the crowd.

There have always been two sides to the Killers (a little like the way the Cure alternated between sugary pop and cathedral-sized goth-rock). There’s the slick New Wavey act that broke big with the legendary “Mr. Brightside” and released last year’s “Imploding the Mirage.” Then there’s singer Brandon Flowers’ Springsteen-style troubadour fixation, which has resulted in albums like 2006’s Sam’s Town and their latest LP Pressure Machine, a giant-sounding look at small towns and the people who can’t or won’t leave them as observed by folks who did.

In the early days of the pandemic, just as it was becoming clear that the Killers’ 2020 tour wasn’t going to happen, Brandon Flowers found that his mind kept drifting back his formative years in the tiny, remote Utah town of Nephi. “There was a nostalgic longing in the air and a little bit of sadness,” the singer says. “I started thinking about where I was in the Nineties, and these stories just sort of blossomed out.”
Those stories form the basis of the upcoming Killers record Pressure Machine, due out August 13th.

Guitarist Dave Keuning formed the Killers in 2001 when he took out an ad in a Las Vegas newspaper seeking musicians, and he’s a key creative voice in the group that co-wrote classics like “Mr. Brightside,” ‘Somebody Told Me” and “When You Were Young.” But he stepped off the road in 2017 to spend more time with his family, citing exhaustion. The group insisted he was still technically a member, but it became a little hard to believe when he didn’t participate in the sessions for 2020’s Imploding The Mirage...

Killers guitarist Dave Keuning took an indefinite hiatus from the band in 2017 due to exhaustion from their heavy touring schedule — and he wasn’t involved with the creation of their 2020 LP Imploding The Mirage — but he’s hardly been inactive. Two years ago, he released his under-the-radar solo debut Prismism, and his second LP, A Mild Case of Everything, will come out on June 25th.
“Quite a few of these songs were shown to the Killers and, for whatever reason, not used,” he says on the phone from his home in San Diego.

Late last month, the Killers posted an Instagram Live video that sent their fan community into a state of hysteria. It not only shows them at work on a follow-up to their 2020 LP Imploding the Mirage, but it reveals that estranged guitarist Dave Keuning is back in the fold. There’s been no official announcement about his return, but the masked man at the 12-second mark is unquestionably Keuning. We’d recognize that hair anywhere.

Minutes after the release of the Killers’ new album Imploding the Mirage, the band celebrated its arrival with a performance of “Blowback” on The Late Show.
While Brandon Flowers and company’s early-in-the-quarantine late-night TV performances saw them performing Imploding songs in their own bathroom and their recording studio, “Blowback” was somewhat of a return of normalcy for the band, who played the song together — yet kept social distance — from their concert stage.
The Killers previously debuted “Blowback” on CBS This Morning with a rendition from the band’s Utah studio.

The Killers have released the new song “Dying Breed” from their upcoming album Imploding the Mirage, set to arrive August 21st via Island Records.
“Dying Breed” finds the Killers at their triumphant best, riding a steady, but tightly-wound chug over the course of the song’s first two minutes, then blowing it up at the halfway mark into full-on arena rock glory. “From the coveted touch a girl in love,” Brendan Flowers sings, “I was lifted by the sound of a spirit in need/Baby, we’re a dying breed.

When the Killers began work on their new album, Imploding the Mirage, they had virtually everything they needed: a batch of new songs, a seven-month break from the road, and a large home studio nestled away in Park City, Utah, where they could work and live without distraction. Keuning started the band back in 2001, when he took out an ad in a Las Vegas newspaper looking for local musicians to play with. The first song he wrote with future Killers frontman...

The Killers are desperate for a break - because they don't like each other any more. The "Human" rockers' friendships have been put to the test after spending months on the road together and are worried they will split up if they don't have some time apart soon.
However, with a crammed schedule of festival shows and their current Australian tour, the band - singer Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and bassist Mark Stoermer - look unlikely to be able to take time off until 2010. The group's management and lawyers are believed to be desperately trying to find a way to adjust their schedule.
A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "They're exhausted. They haven't had a break since they first formed and it has started getting to them."

The Killers are desperate for a break - because they don't like each other any more. The 'Human' rockers' friendships have been put to the test after spending months on the road together and are worried they will split up if they don't have some time apart soon. However, with a crammed schedule of festival shows and their current Australian tour, the band - singer Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and bassist Mark Stoermer - look unlikely to be able to take time off until 2010. The Killers "forgot" to take their guitarist to the Glastonbury festival. The "Mr. Brightside" rockers were traveling to their show at the world-famous British music event in 2005 when they accidentally left Dave Keuning at a service station - and didn't notice for nearly an hour.
Drummer Ronnie Vanucci explained: "The most ridiculous incident we've had was probably when we played Glastonbury in 2005 - which, up to that point, was the biggest show of our careers."
"On the way to the site, we stopped off to get some food at a service station. About 45 minutes after getting back on the road, we realized that we'd left Dave behind. His wallet and his phone were still in his bunk, so he had nothing."
The day then got worse for the group, as Ronnie was struck down with food poisoning - but they still made it through the show.

"Our first phone call was just before 9/11, and we started practising right around 9/11. I got fired just before then, because the store I was working in wasn't (more)...

The Killers have claimed that the economic downturn after 9/11 helped them start their band. Guitarist Dave Keuning said that he could not find work after the 2001 attacks, which forced him to spend a lot of time focusing on music with frontman Brandon Flowers. "When I met Brandon, for about a year it was just me and him in the band," Keuning told NME. "Our first phone call was just before 9/11, and we started practising right around 9/11. I got fired just before then, because the store I was working at wasn't doing any business anyway. "But then after that event (more)...
