Ugo Frosi was born in Rome in 1969. After graduating with Honors in Literature in Rome, he specialized in screenwriting and studied with Ugo Pirro, the screenwriter of two Oscar winning films. In 1999 Frosi moved to New York to study filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. After making his short Calos cai agatos, which received the National Cultural Interest award, in 2015 the director wrote and directed his first feature L'Ospite. The film was awarded the Gianni Di Venanzo Premio Internazionale.
L'Abbandono is Ugo Frosi's second feature film.
