Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from the entire first season of “Dead Boy Detectives,” now streaming on Netflix.
The Dead Boy Detectives may have closed the case of Port Townsend, but they don’t jump back through the mirror to merry old London the same boys they once were.
In the Season 1 finale of Netflix’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “Dead Boy Detectives” comic books, Edwin (George Rexstrew) and Charles (Jayden Revri) find themselves in the well-manicured clutches of resident witch Esther (Jenn Lyon), who is hellbent on bottling the youthful elixir she brews from the anguish attached to Edwin’s soul from his decades of torture in Hell. Pesky witches, always trying to steal childhood trauma for their skin care routine.
But with the help of Crystal (Kassius Nelson), who has restored her rather unwelcome memories of being a horrible person, and Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), the sweetest soul ever to exist,...

First things first: The attention-seeking creatures that inhabit Niko (Yuyu Kitamura) in Dead Boy Detectives have names, thank you very much — Litty (Caitlin Reilly) and Kingham (Max Jenkins). So if you even think about calling them Sprite 1 and Sprite 2, they’ll find it really offensive and roast you into oblivion. Actually, they’ll do that anyway.
We meet the 2-inch-tall, foul-mouthed Sprites in Episode 2, “The Case of the Dandelion Shrine,” when the Dead Boy Detectives help remove the paranormal parasites from Niko’s body and trap them in an enchanted jar. From their fishbowl prison, the Sprites lovingly taunt Niko and her friends for the rest of the season. (Particularly memorable digs include Kingham comparing Niko’s face to “roadkill.”) Think of them as the series’ savage Greek chorus, commenting on the goings-on of the characters and cases.

‘Dead Boy Detectives’ is an upcoming supernatural detective comedy-drama TV series developed by Steve Yockey, based on DC Comics characters by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner. The show follows Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who opt to stay on Earth investigating supernatural crimes instead of entering the afterlife.
Initially announced in 2021 as a spinoff of ‘Doom Patrol’ on HBO, the series switched to Netflix in February 2023. The decision was reportedly due to conflicts with the vision for HBO Max’s DC Universe by DC Studios’ co-CEOs and marketing constraints. Neil Gaiman confirmed on April 20, 2023, that the series would share a universe with ‘The Sandman.’
After much anticipation, the show finally has a release date set for April 25, 2024, which is just over a month away. It’s close enough to start feeling excited! You can also view the latest official photos of the show.

Even before they earned Oscar nominations for their respective performances in “Elvis” and “The Banshees of Inisherin,” Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan were already flying high. In 2021, the talented duo joined BAFTA TV nominee Callum Turner in filming “Masters of the Air,” a new miniseries produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman. The World War II-set drama — the first two episodes of which are now streaming on Apple TV+ — is the long-awaited follow-up to the Emmy-winning HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific,” which followed members of the Army and Marine Corps, respectively, during the war.

NPR is about to get an adult rebrand. The new Peacock animated comedy series “In The Know,” premiering Thursday, Jan. 25, follows Lauren Caspian (Zach Woods) – well-meaning but totally hypocritical - as he conducts in-depth interviews with real world human guests across funny, scary, and friendly conversations. Oh, and did we mention he’s a stop motion puppet? Each episode in the series will follow the making of an episode of Caspian’s show In the Know, as he collaborates with other NPR staff (also puppets and nimrods) and asks the tough questions through his frail, overconfident male puppet persona that boasts a woman’s name: Lauren Caspian. Don’t miss any of the wacky humor from the mind of the man who’s portrayed some of your favorite characters in shows like “The Office” and “Silicon Valley” - Zach Woods. You can watch In the Know: Season 1 with a subscription to Peacock.

As played by Zach Woods, who’s made a career specializing in awkward, alarmingly pasty nerds, NPR host Lauren Caspian is the type of tote-bag-carrying, kombucha-swigging, self-described sapiosexual that any other show might mock by having him drop a particularly overexposed Hamilton quote. On Peacock’s In the Know, though, a simple “Immigrants, we get the job done” doesn’t cut it.
No, this comedy reaches instead for a deep-cut reference to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s West Wing rap, and sprinkles in throwaway details about Lin-Manuel Miranda’s autobiography or Lin-Manuel Miranda interviewing himself at the New Yorker Festival for good measure. They’re jokes precise enough that they feel like they could only be coming from inside the house, from people who know and love this world quite well. "On air!" Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a streaming series debuting later in January called In The Know, a fun riff on NPR office life. It's co-created by Brandon Gardner, Zach Woods, and comedy mastermind Mike Judge. This public radio parody follows the making of NPR's fictional "third most popular host" Lauren Caspian's radio program, where he conducts in-depth interviews with special guests – including Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Mike Tyson, Hugh Laurie, Jorge Masvisdal, and more. "He's a well-meaning, hypocritical nimrod, just like you and me. He's also a stop motion puppet." The show features stop-motion animation from ShadowMachine (the same place that also made Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio) and a voice cast featuring Zach Woods as Lauren, Charlie Bushnell, J. Smith-Cameron, Mike Judge, Caitlin Reilly, & Carl Tart. The cleverest part are the interviews with real people spliced with all the other antics.

Peacock has unveiled the trailer for In The Know, an adult animation series which combines stop-motion animation and live-action interviews, from Zach Woods, Mike Judge and Brandon Gardner.
Co-created by Woods, Gardner and Judge, the public radio parody chronicles the making of NPR’s fictional “third most popular host” Lauren Caspian’s radio program, where he conducts in-depth interviews with guests, including Kaia Gerber, Ken Burns, Finn Wolfhard, Norah Jones, Mike Tyson, Hugh Laurie, Jorge Masvisdal and more.
In one interview Caspian asks Hugh Laurie, “what should we do about Meghan Markle,” to which an emotionless Laurie responds, “I don’t know that any action is required.”
Caspain also tells a befuddled Jonathan Van Ness that he’s a sapiosexual who “once got an erection by reading Plato’s The Cave.” Other guests include Norah Jones, Nicole Byer, Roxane Gay, and Tegan and Sara,...

As the U.S. surpasses 240 school shootings in 2023, setting the stage for a record-breaking year of gun violence in schools, Sandy Hook Promise (Shp) is launching “Just Joking,” its latest public service announcement (PSA) to underscore how important it is to take threats of gun violence seriously.
The PSA features a lineup of renowned comedians – including Billy Eichner, Wanda Sykes, Margaret Cho, Jay Pharoah, Roy Wood Jr., Caitlin Reilly, David Cross, Iliza Shlesinger and Rachel Bloom – who lend their wit to deliver a sobering message: Threats are not jokes. Her answer, when she can be bothered to give one, is that nothing is. But it’s been clear from the opening moments of Cora Bora that that’s very far from the case.

Two more cast members have been added to the HBO Max series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25. Variety reports that Caitlin Reilly (Hacks) and Max Jenkins (Dead to Me) have been cast in the recurring roles of Litty and Kingham, who are “tiny foul-mouthed dandelion sprites. They are a rude annoyance to the Dead Boys.“
George Rexstrew, making his screen debut, and Jayden Revri of The Lodge play the title characters in Dead Boy Detectives. The third lead of the show will be Kassius Nelson of Last Night in Soho. The one-hour episodes of the series will follow

The “Dead Boy Detectives” show at HBO Max has added Caitlin Reilly and Max Jenkins to its cast in recurring roles, Variety has learned exclusively.
The eight-episode series was ordered at HBO Max back in April. It is based on the DC comics of the same name as well as “The Sandman,” from characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner.
The official series description states, “It’s a fresh take on a ghost story that explores loss, grief, and death through the lens of Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri), two dead British teenagers, and their very alive friend, Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson). So, it’s a lot like a vintage detective series — only darker and on acid.”

In the blink of an eye, she can morph into the stuck-up mom asking for almond-shaped nails at the salon, and moments later, you just might mistake her for the woman who ran the horse camp you went to in 8th grade or the guy who thinks loving dogs is a personality.
