There’s intimacy. And then there’s claustrophobia. Numa Perrier, the writer-director-co-star of “Jezebel,” delivers both in her nuanced debut feature. The semi-autobiographical story of a young woman finding her way as a “camgirl” in the world-wide-web frontier of the late-’90s adult entertainment biz premiered at last year’s SXSW film fest. It was picked up by Ava Duvernay’s Array Releasing, which aims to support female- and minority-made independent cinema, and which has arranged select arthouse screenings around the country, in addition to making the film available to stream via Netflix.
Newcomer Tiffany Tenille portrays 19-year-old Tiffany, who lives with older sis Sabrina (Perrier), resentful brother Dominic (Stephen Harrington), and a little niece. Also sharing the crowded one-bedroom of a low-budget suites motel is Sabrina’s white boyfriend David (Bobby Field). With his fussy tobacco pipe and faux patriarch grumblings, he enters the room like he owns the joint.

The Catch was something of a surprise last spring, with a gimmick that pulled you in, but clever writing that kept you going after the series established the somewhat surreal premise.
See our full The Catch Review here
Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) runs a serious investigative firm, with top-level clients and people working every angle for her, mostly to keep her clients secure from any number of threats. Her life takes an odd turn when her fiancé, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause) reveals that he’s been pulling a long con on her.
Now a serious game of cat and mouse goes into full swing, and it seems that Alice might be in over her head.
It’s a show that’s as slick as can be, but manages it without having to dumb down the dialog, or rely on goofball dramatic turns that serve no purpose other than to make sure we have goofball drama.

While the film's synopsis seems simple enough: An epic post-apocalyptic tale about two brothers who struggle to avenge the wrongs done to their family, everything you'll see below leads us to believe the short film is anything but.
Written by Robert Scott Crane and Zoe Taylor and directed by Eric S. Anderson (who's worked as editor on some fairly big TV shows like Six Feet Under and Nip/Tuck) the short film has played some festivals, but is not fully available online. What is available is a grab bag of weirdness and talent that has me intrigued to see the final film.

Topical, in light of recent economic shifts. But maybe also a foretelling of what the future of this country (the USA) might look like in the absence of public revolt/rebellion. Essentially, a dystopian portrait of world in which an omnipotent government is the enemy that needs to be struck against. Titled Silver Circle, the animated political thriller, set in a multicultural not too distant future, is directed by Pasha Roberts from a script penned by Steven Schwartz. "Silver Circle" focuses on a group of Underground Rebels led by the charismatic Zoe Taylor (played by Philana Mia). Under Zoe’s leadership, the Rebels outmaneuver the oppressive Federal Reserve while...

Chicks On Speed, Dundee
Chicks On Speed are less a rock group than a fulfilment of every person's presumption that all art students are cuckoo. Emerging from Munich Academy Of Arts in the mid-90s, Melissa Logan, Kiki Moorse and Alex Murray-Leslie have gone on to eradicate the boundaries between fine art and trashy entertainment, punk performance and electroclash pop, historically informed painting and flashy graffiti, spirited commitment and an irreverent disregard for considerations of good taste. Their take on street fashion includes dresses made from plastic bags and gaffa tape. This, their first solo UK show, resembles more the aftermath of an art college end-of-term party than an exhibition, and will include the construction of the world's first wireless guitar stilettos.
