Missed Monday’s late-night monologues? We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the night’s best laughs from across the dial.
Wannabe Trump-tator
With Donald Trump now the lone Republican candidate left in the presidential race, late-night hosts are leaping to keep the former President’s most alarming statements in the public eye by amplifying some of Trump’s most disqualifying statements when it comes to holding the highest office in the land.
Armed with recent quotes from Trump administration officials like former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper relating how Trump inquired about ordering the National Guard to shoot Black Lives Matter protesters, Jon Stewart interpreted Trump’s position on the Constitution as, “Well, there can still be freedom to assemble. The assembly’d just be more of a pile.”
[On Trump’s claim to ‘absolute immunity’ with regard to his actions while in office, including theoretically murdering political enemies] “I don’t want to be a nitpicker, but I do not remember the assassination episode of Schoolhouse Rock.

During a rally in Conway, South Carolina, on Sunday, Donald Trump made a jab at fellow Republican presidential campaign opponent Nikki Haley and her husband.
Haley’s husband, Major Michael Haley of the South Carolina Army National Guard, is currently deployed in the Horn of Africa. During the Saturday rally, Trump questioned Michael’s absence during her campaign, implying the couple may be having marital issues.
Trump told the crowd, “What happened to her husband? Where is he? He’s gone! He knew.”
After Trump’s rally, Haley also had a rally in Gilbert, South Carolina. Haley defended herself and her husband against Trump’s remarks.
“I am proud of Michael’s service,” Halye said. “Every military spouse knows it’s a family sacrifice.”
In an interview with Fox News, Haley criticized Trump’s lack of military service in light of the comments, as well as his previous comments about veterans.

You might recognize Taylor Sheridan from his role as David Hale on "Sons of Anarchy" or Travis Wheatley in Paramount+'s "Yellowstone," but the actor's work on screen is arguably not as impressive as the stacked résumé of films and television shows that he has written.
Sheridan began acting in the 1990s and took on a number of small roles in various TV shows and movies throughout the remainder of the decade into the 2000s. But his career as an actor never quite took off, which is when he discovered his talent and passion for screenwriting. After writing the pilot for "Mayor of Kingstown" in 2011, he knew that's exactly what he was meant to do. "I was a fair actor, but that's all I was ever going to be," Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in a June 2023 interview. "Hollywood will tell you what you're supposed to do if you listen.

Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren was slammed over the weekend for remarks she made about immigrants.
“You don’t just come into this country with low skills, low education, not understanding the language and come into our country because someone says it makes them feel nice,” she said during a segment on “Watters’ World” Saturday. “That’s not what this country is based on.”
Lahren’s observation is at odds with the country’s history of immigration and the words of the poem engraved on the Statue of Liberty, which literally reads: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

A Fox News tweet lauding Lahren’s position on the issue was quickly seized upon by critics who raked the contributor over the coals.
“I’d trade Xenophobic Rage Barbie for a hard working immigrant any day of the week and twice on Sundays,” said former Office of Government Ethics director Walter Shaub. “Contributing less than nothing to this country, she exists only to make lazy white supremacists ‘with low skills, low education, [barely] understanding the language’ feel nice.”

In our field, there was an uneducated guy named Joe from Hungary, who spent his extra hours in his first year here in the St. Louis library, learning a new language. His legacy? The prizes for excellence and understanding that bear his last name: Pulitzer.

Tomi did you learn Anything in school?
Over 80% of immigrants to USA before World War 1 could not read or write English. Most did not have high school educations.
No/low skilled labor is what made America great.

John Oliver had to open Last Week Tonight explaining why he was still on the air.
“You might be thinking right now ‘Hey didn’t you shut down the show last week after Russell Crowe name a Koala Chlamydia Ward after you?’ Well, yes I did do that. In fact, I went to Australia to work with the Koalas,” he explained.
Where, he learned two important things:
“First, HBO contracts are a little harder to get out of then I originally thought. And, second, these horny little fuckers are not as cute as you’d expect. They are nasty, they are mean, they’re not even technically bears, and all they kept asking is whether or not I knew James Corden, and I don’t.”
“So, unfortunately for everybody, this show must continue,” Oliver announced.
He then turned talk to the Trump White House, “the only home in America where...
