In the case of feature films, many actresses do not get roles due to pregnancy. As for TV series, when the stars who are loved by the fans become pregnant in the middle of filming the project, it is almost impossible to replace them, so the writers have to change the plot to suit their situation.
Sometimes this only makes the story better, but sometimes it becomes the reason for very strange and illogical writing decisions.
Caroline’s Pregnancy Broke All The Vampire Diaries’ Rules
In the seventh season of The Vampire Diaries, Caroline unexpectedly finds herself pregnant, even though in the story she is a vampire and cannot conceive a child. Such a plot twist was made because Candice King, who played Caroline, got pregnant in real life.
That’s how the writers explained Caroline's pregnancy: the twins, who were Alaric and Jo’s, were magically transferred into her body,...

With Spooky Season firmly in the rear view mirror, Trace and I are now mid-way through our month on Toxic Masculinity. And while we probably could have counted Apt Pupil (and maybe even Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2), we officially kicked things off with Michael Haneke’s Funny Games.
Things get considerably darker with our second entry: Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel‘s Deadgirl. The extreme film follows two high school teenage boys – Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and Jt (Noah Segan) – who discover a zombie girl (Jenny Spain) in an abandoned hospital and make the horrific decision to use her as a sex object rather than alert the authorities.
As Rickie struggles with his guilty conscience, Jt recruits other “friends” like Wheeler (Eric Podnar) to assault the girl. Things get out of hand, however, when a pair of jocks, including Johnny (Andrew Dipalma) – the boyfriend of Rickie’s crush,...

When it comes to vampires, you’re talking about the lesser of two evils, literally. When The Vampire Diaries began, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was presumably the bad boy to Stefan (Paul Wesley). Still, they were both vampires. Embodying the darker side of the equation, Somerhalder said at the time that he found a way to relate to Damon.

Somerhalder was on a Television Critics Panel for The Vampire Diaries’ first season in January 2010. He said tapping into Damon’s loneliness helped him play the character.
Damon was just lonely on ‘The Vampire Diaries’
Damon was feuding with his brother and the love of his life, Katherine (Nina Dobrev), died. Fortunately, Katherine would come back and Stefan would remain entangled in his life. But, eternal life gave Damon a lot of down time.

Spoiler alert for The Vampire Diaries, but even the human characters didn’t stay human for long. Nina Dobrev played Elena on the show, the center of the love triangle between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). Candice King played Caroline, and both became vampires by the second season. It was a surprise to them both.

On The Vampire Diaries, both Candice King and Nina Dobrev played admirable women. Sure, they made mistakes in love and became vampires themselves, but who hasn’t made a few regrettable decisions? Elena (Dobrev) and Caroline (King) made the most of their situations, and the actors once said they looked up to pioneering women like Lucille Ball and Angelina Jolie.

Love, drama and vampirism were a lot to balance, but King recognized she had it easy by comparison. She looked up to Lucille Ball, who did it all plus comedy.

Hollywood typically casts 20-something actors as teens, primarily due to labor laws. The Vampire Diaries was no different, with most of the cast members in their early to mid-20s when the teen drama began. By the time Tvd ended after eight seasons, its actors had aged. Ian Somerhalder was one of the oldest on the show, so how old was he while on The Vampire Diaries?

Studios typically try to hang on to props because they are a vital part of the history of shows like The Vampire Diaries and can even increase in value over time. However, the actors who use them usually care more about keeping a memento of their time spent in character than they do about the cost of the item.
Over the years, several actors have come forward to admit that they have taken home props. One of them was Paul Wesley, who kept Stefan’s daylight ring when Tvd ended in 2017.

The Vampire Diaries stuck to a staple of vampire lore by having its fanged characters get burned if they went outside during the day. However, the show also devised a simple solution to this problem so that its characters could walk in the sun—daylight rings.

Stefan Salvatore’s romantic interests in The Vampire Diaries were the most interesting of any character. The moody Salvatore had tremendous chemistry with practically all the women who fell in love with him during the course of the series. And while there were a few potential partners for Stefan to end up with, many viewers couldn’t agree on the best choice.
Paul Wesley | Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images Who did Stefan Salvatore end up with in ‘Tvd’?
Various characters may have stolen Stefan Salvatore’s heart in The Vampire Diaries, but he finally found true love with Caroline Forbes in the later seasons of the show. While Tvd’s central focus was initially on Stefan’s connection with Elena Gilbert, the story shifted away from the love triangle premise after Elena fell in love with Damon. In the eighth-season episode “Today Will Be Different,” Stefan proposes to Caroline, and they eventually tie the knot.

Blood is a huge component of storytelling when it comes to vampires and werewolves. The Vampire Diaries had plenty of graphic shots requiring digital and practical effects such as blood. One of the show’s stars, Candice King, the fake blood during kiss scenes could be a challenge.

It took a long time before Stefan Salvatore, and Caroline Forbes succumbed to their feelings for one another. Caroline was the first one to have feelings for Stefan after having a crush on him since high school. They got close and became friends and each other’s support system throughout the seasons, and when Caroline’s mother died in season 6, Stefan realized how deep his feelings for Caroline ran.
However, by that time, Caroline had switched off her humanity, and it was up to Stefan to bring her back.

The Vampire Diaries was one of the most popular shows ever to air on The CW.
With its complicated love triangles, vampire goodness, and twists that haven't been seen on TV since the series wrapped in 2017, it makes sense that viewers would still have a desire to watch after all these years.
Netflix lost the rights to stream the 171-episode series that lasted eight seasons on Saturday, September 3.
The streaming typically licenses shows for a set amount of years as the media conglomerates that own them decide where they will end up long-term.
Ahead of its removal from Netflix, it was revealed that all eight seasons would appear on HBO Max.
The news was not a surprise.
Warner Bros. TV Group owns the Vampire Diaries, so putting it on the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streaming service was always in the cards.

The Vampire Diaries universe, as we know it, is over.
The franchise wrapped up last week with the series finale of Legacies.
However, Legacies Season 4 Episode 20 brought franchise veterans, Candice King and Joseph Morgan, back as Caroline and Klaus, respectively.
Despite sharing a romantic connection, their bond was put on the back burner in the third series in the franchise.
Granted, Klaus is dead, and while Caroline is a vampire, she's still free to live her life.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, King spoke about not getting to work with Morgan on the series finale.
"Just as someone who's followed the trajectory of the three series, I love that there is an element of peace," King told the outlet.
"As a TV watcher, I feel satisfaction in that. Leaving a show so heavy-hearted is really tough, so the fact that Klaus does find peace, I think for any viewer of this series,...

The CW’s “Legacies” ended on Thursday with not one, but two very special appearances from beloved characters.
Joesph Morgan’s Klaus Mikaelson spoke with his daughter Hope from the afterlife to let her know that he’d finally found peace — which showrunner Brett Matthews told TheWrap was an integral part of bringing the show to a close. Fans might have guessed that Morgan was making a return, after he cryptically teased it on social media, but they likely weren’t expecting the surprise return of Candice King as Caroline Forbes — a character from the original “The Vampire Diaries.”
“I hope that there was a whole bunch of people that actually get to watch it live and be totally surprised,” King told TheWrap. “That was the goal. We’ve been trying to have Caroline Forbes get back into the ‘Legacies’ world for a while now.”

In the latest TV ratings, ABC’s coverage of the sixth and what would be the clinching game of the NBA Finals averaged just shy of 14 million total viewers on Thursday night.
That is up from both the deciding NBA Finals matchups of 2021 (when Bucks over Suns drew 12.5 mil) and 2020 (when the Lakers over the Heat mustered just 8.3 mil, held in October), but it’s looking to fall well shy of the 18.8 million who tuned in for the Raptors’ Game 6 win over the Warriors in June 2019.

Since The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017, series star Candice King returned to close out first spinoff The Originals in 2018, and this week she finally appeared on the next show in Tvd Universe, Legacies, for its series finale. “It’s incredible to have the opportunity to return,” King tells TV Insider and laughs about the tradition of her ending the spinoffs. Since she wasn’t on either show during the rest of their runs, “I just felt like a grateful visitor. I felt like I was over for this wonderful dinner party and was just grateful to be invited.” On Legacies, we saw Caroline reunite with her daughter Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and take over as (interim) headmistress of the Salvatore School. But is it really “interim”? King addresses that, discusses being back on that set (which was the Salvatore House on Tvd before becoming a school), and more. When I spoke...

Don’t turn off your humanity just yet: Despite the cancellation of “Legacies” — the YA spin-off series to “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” — co-creator Julie Plec said there’s “more to do” within the franchise universe.
“We had a plan to keep the franchise on the air until the next installment, which exists in our brains, but not on the page yet,” Plec told Entertainment Weekly in an interview.
“Legacies” was just one of myriad shows canceled by The CW last month as the network cleaned house. Launched in 2018, the series followed a new generation of supernaturals at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted, run and attended by familiar faces like Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) and tribrid Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell). “Annoyed” is the word Julie Plec used to describe how she’s feeling about the end of The Vampire Diaries franchise on the heels of the Legacies finale airing tonight before sharing a hearty laugh. Legacies was canceled after four seasons by the CW in mid-May as the network prepares for a sale.
Plec, who is the co-creator and executive producer of The Vampire Diaries and the creator of its two spinoffs, The Originals and Legacies, was joined by Legacies showrunner and fellow executive producer Brett Matthews for a chat with Deadline about the end of an era and their plans to expand on the franchise’s legacy someday.

The CW’s “Legacies” came to a close on Thursday night with an emotional series finale. The Super Squad had to deal with the aftermath of their battle with Ken the God.
While the good guys ultimately saved the day once again, Alaric decides that it’s too much to ask any of the students have have to keep saving the world (which is totally fair) and tells them he’s shutting down the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
Hope, Lizzie and the rest of the crew spend a majority of the episode trying to convince him otherwise — with a little help from surprise guest Caroline Forbes (Candice King). At the end of the episode, Alaric reveals that Caroline will take over as headmistress while he steps away to write the definitive history of the so-called mythological creatures he’s encountered.

Ever since Legacies debuted in 2018, the Vampire Diaries fans have been clamoring for Candice King to return as Caroline Forbes.
The spinoff features Caroline's daughters in lead roles, and the series has explained the mother's absence is down to the looming merge between her daughters, who are Gemini Twins.
King played Caroline on all eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries and reprised the role during the final season of The Originals.
While Caroline's been mentioned on Legacies multiple times on Legacies, we have yet to see her in the flesh, but we did get closer to something happening when the actress lent her voice to read a note to one of the character's daughters.
With fans pondering what could happen, King revealed in a recent Instagram Live interview with Tommy Didarrio.

We've had many different monsters throughout Legacies, and we're about to get a Banshee!
Cool, right?
Legacies Season 3 Episode 10 will bring a Banshee to Mystic Falls, and naturally, death is not far behind.
The CW has released an official trailer for "All's Well That Ends Well," airing on April 15.
The clip shows the students stumbling upon the monster, leading to Alaric saying the following:
"The Banshee is a Harbinger. Whenever they appear, death is not far behind."
It's certainly a big development, but when you consider that death is a term used very loosely on Legacies, will there be actual consequences?
We also get to see a possessed Jed refer to Hope as a "little girl," telling her to ask the monster "what you wish to know."
"Who's gonna die," asks the youngest Mikaelson, but the clip comes to a close before we get any solid answers.
They are only there to tease us,...

"Who's gonna die," asks the youngest Mikaelson, but the clip comes to a close before we get any solid answers.
They are only there to tease us,...

The Vampire Diaries is one of the most recognizable series The CW has produced.
It makes sense then that there would be a desire from the fans for it to get the revival or reboot treatment.
In a recent interview with Andy Cohen, Ian Somerhalder addressed the rumors.
"[There are] rumors circling online that it could come back for a ninth season, but that the decision is up to you and Nina [Dobrev]. Any truth to that?" Cohen asked Somerhalder, who played Damon Salvatore on all eight seasons of the series.
Somerhalder admitted that he hasn't "heard anything about a [ninth season]," but he doesn't think it will be worthwhile because Damon and Elena ended the series finale as humans.
"What would happen?" he wondered about the reboot’s possible storyline.
"Damon would have, like, gray hair and they'd have canes. Like, 'Oh, I've got to feed the baby.'"
“Listen. It ran a great course,...

As someone skeptical about the Salvatore School throwing a musical about some of our favorite characters from The Vampire Diaries, I expected to hate Legacies Season 3 Episode 3.
Fortunately, it was one of the best episodes of the series to date, featuring much-needed character progression and a surprise appearance from Candice King, albeit not in the flesh.
"Salvatore: The Musical" didn't go overboard on the campy factor, and everything happening behind the scenes kept me questioning what was really happening.
Goodwin, or whatever he goes by, was one of the most exciting monsters-of-the-week in some time. A part of me couldn't help but wonder whether he could be Landon's dad.
That theory, coupled with the way he planned to get Hope into the production, made me think that he wanted her to say a specific spell that would cause death and destruction to the school,
Goodwin being one of the good...

From Nimue’s arrival to Rafael’s departure, the third season of Legacies has been full of surprises, though none have been quite as lyrical as the jaw-droppers thrown at us in Thursday’s episode, which featured the long-awaited debut performance of Salvatore: The Musical.
Under the bright lights of the Salvatore School auditorium, Josie, Kaleb, Jed and Lizzie — as Elena, Damon, Stefan and Caroline, respectively — retold the story of the institution’s founding, hitting several iconic beats from The Vampire Diaries in the process: Stefan and Elena’s first meeting, Stefan and Damon’s dramatic reunion, Elena’s eternal back-and-forth between the brothers,...

The day we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. Yes, the day of the Vampire Diaries musical! Tonight, Legacies puts on its highly anticipated performance of Salvatore: The Musical!, a show fictionally written by Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi) about the founding of the Salvatore School. The school was actually founded by Caroline (Candice King) with help from Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in the Vampire Diaries series finale, and the musical begins with Elena (originally played by Nina Dobrev) meeting Stefan (originally played by Paul Wesley) outside of Mystic Falls High School, which happened in the Tvd pilot. Legacies star Kaylee Bryant, who plays Josie playing Elena, was just as confused...

Sometimes Legacies knows just what to do to lift our spirits. The Vampire Diaries and Originals spinoff is delving into some of its history in an upcoming episode with "Salvatore: The Musical!," a musical retelling of one of TV's wildest love triangles/love squares. This is actually hilarious because it confirms that Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline's (Candice King) romance drama is legendary both in our world and in the actual world of the show. Do they argue with each other over Team Stelena and Team Delena? We must know! Here's the episode description, courtesy of The CW: "The students...

Ever since Legacies debuted in 2018, an important part of the mythology was missing.
Caroline Forbes, the mother of twins Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, has been mentioned several times, but viewers have not seen her in the flesh.
It's been frustrating for fans because it has essentially made Caroline look like a bad mother.
If you watch Legacies online, monsters have invaded the Salvatore School, including Lizzie and Josie's crazy uncle Kai.
The series has explained Caroline's absence as her being off trying to find a way to stop the imminent merge between her daughters.
In a new interview, TV Line asked Legacies showrunner Brett Matthews about a return for Caroline, played by Candice King, but it seems it will all come down to whether the actress wants to do it.
"Our answer is still the same, and you’re probably sick of hearing it, but the door is always open to Candice,...
