Manchester (England), July 17 (Ians) Australian opening batter Usman Khawaja revealed that he went directly to the International Cricket Council (Icc) top brass to raise the issue of slow over-rate punishments.
Last week, the Icc made an announcement regarding alterations to over-rate sanctions in Test matches. This decision came after substantial penalties were imposed following the World Test Championship (Wtc) final between Australia and India, as well as the subsequent first Ashes Test.
In addition to players being fined 40 per cent of their match fees after both Australia and England were found to be two overs behind at Edgbaston Test, the two teams were then also docked two Wtc points each.
Amid discontent from both Australia and England, Khawaja directly contacted the Icc’s general manager Wasim Khan. The governing body then altered the rules after a chief executives’ conference in Durban, according to Cricket.com.au website.
“I was pretty frustrated with what was happening.

Following Amir's retirement, Akhtar posted a video on his YouTube channel and said the 28-year-old should have dealt with the Pcb management by performing well in cricket and not by escaping.

Lahore, Dec 2 (Ians) Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) chief executive Wasim Khan believes there's a possibility that the T20 World Cup, slated to be held next year in India, could be shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Cricket Council (Icc) had in August this year moved the 2020 T20 World Cup to 2022 while it maintained that India will host the 2021 event in the agreed window from October 17 to November 14, 2021.
In an interview to 'Cricket Baaz' YouTube channel, Khan recently said that the growing number of Covid-19 cases in India pose a health risk, which might force the Icc to shift the mega event from India to UAE.
"There is still some uncertainty over the World T20 being held in India...yes because of the Covid-19 situation there. It could be in UAE," Khan said.

"My message to fans and followers of Pakistan cricket is that we have achieved a lot so far and there is still a lot of hard work ahead, but Pakistan cricket has a lot to look forward to without worrying about playing India [in bilateral series]," Khan told PakPassion.net in an interview.
"The Bcci have to get government of India's permission before they play Pakistan and that's a fact. So, based on that and the current regime in power, their outlook on life and their opinions on certain matters, including their views on Pakistan, it is highly unlikely that in the near future Pakistan will play India," he said.
