The Reel Reviewer says this film ranks as "Premium Channel" worthy. The Cayon is good for some laughs and not many thrills; it is rated R for brief disturbing images aka one 4 second scene. Yeah, it is a very fine line between rated R and PG-13. There is a fine execution from first time feature director Richard Harrah with one or two strong characters but as far as storyline and unique characters or special effects there is really nothing new that can be taught to us or to entertain us. I'd suggest waiting until The Canyon makes its appearance from off the rental shelves and onto the premium channels like Cinemax or Showtime. This is a direct-to-dvd release, so it might not take long for it to hit the tube!

During her lunch break on the NBC series Chuck , actress Yvonne Strahovski offered a brief call to us this week to talk about her time on The Canyon , a new entry in the survival-thriller cannon directed by Richard Harrah. Strahovski plays opposite Eion Bailey and together they Lori and Nick, a recently wed couple who take a trip to the Grand Canyon on their honeymoon. When their guide (a salt of the Earth fella embodied by Will Patton) is attacked by a rattlesnake, Nick and Lori are forced to find their way back to town, but that proves to be easier said than done when Nick becomes injured and the two are hunted by a pack of wolves. The actress tells us she shot the film shortly after doing the pilot episode of Chuck . "I was just excited to keep working and I had...

[Twitch is undergoing some behind the scenes tire kicking and bolt-tightening over the next few days, work that may slow down the regular flow of new information a little bit. So, while that’s going on we’ll be presenting a series of retro-reposts, pulling forward the all time top ten videos since we moved to our current video system. This post originally appeared June 10.]
Nature may be beautiful but it can also be very very harsh and once you take us humans out of our carefully controlled environments we’re awfully fragile things. This is the potent ground explored in Richard Harrah’s The Canyon, soon to have it’s world premiere at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal. I normally hold on to my program guide notes a little longer than this but, hey ... there’s no time like the present. Here’s what I wrote about the film for the Fantasia program guide:
Young and in love, Nick and Lori have taken the plunge, eloped to Las Vegas and gotten themselves hitched. Lori’s parents will probably be furious when they return but that’s a week away yet and there’s still a honeymoon to be had, a week spent surrounded by the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon. Nick’s had...

Ok, so I'm lazy.. I copy and pasted the press release, which is after the break, and we have reviews of quite a few of the films playing, including White Lightnin', Left Bank, Blood River, Cryptic, Deadgirl, The Horsemen, I Sell the Dead.. with Kaifeck Murder coming soon (once I can figure out what to write).

Arriving October 23 from Magnolia Pictures is "The Canyon", an independent horror film Yvonne Strahovski starred in before filming the TV series "Chuck". Directed by Richard Harrah, the pic is a survival story about a honeymooning couple who get lost in the wide expanse of the Grand Canyon - something quite similar to Rogue Pictures' "Perfect Getaway" arriving later this summer....

After watching Yvonne Strahovski kick ass and take names on the NBC show Chuck, it’s going to take some doing to believe her as a damsel in distress in need of saving in the new horror movie “The Canyon”. In the film, Strahovski plays one half of a newly married couple who visit the Grand Canyon, only to find themselves menaced by their tour guide played by Will Patton, last seen doing the suave bad guy thing on season 7 of 24. A survival story about a honeymooning couple who get lost in the wide expanse of the Grand Canyon. Starring Yvonne Strahovski, Will Patton, Eion Bailey, Wendy Worthington, Andrea Marcellus, and Philip Salick . Directed by Richard Harrah. Pic via Bloody-Disgusting.
