The Academy of Country Music Awards show set for May 16 is getting some additional octane in its performance lineup with the addition of two of the biggest artists of the moment from outside the country genre, Post Malone and Noah Kahan.
Malone looks set for a solo moment on the ACM Awards show, while Kahan will join female artist of the year nominee Kelsea Ballerini for a duet.
Even without a new album out, Malone has been ubiquitous lately, in pop and even country. He has appeared as a featured performer in the last three months with arguably the three biggest acts in the music business right now: Beyonce (on her country-driven album “Cowboy Carter”), Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen (on the just-released joint single “I Had Some Help”). He also did one of the most watched sets at Stagecoach, doing a performance of classic country covers. Although it’s...

Just like Florida Georgia Line itself, the bro-country duo’s Nashville bar is kaput. Fgl House, which first opened its doors in June 2017 with a ribbon cutting by members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, has closed and will be replaced by a new Lainey Wilson venture.
The shuttering of Fgl House marks the first country-star branded bar of the modern era to close in Nashville. Tc Restaurant Group, which operates bars by the likes of Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, and, formerly, Florida Georgia Line, will partner with Wilson to create Bell Bottoms Up.

Country star Jason Aldean is one of the biggest names in the game today. Recently, Aldean talked about the two things that would make him quit music for good. So, what did he have to say?
Jason Aldean Ís One Of The Biggest Names In Music Today
You can’t talk about the biggest names in country music right now without adding Jason Aldean to that conversation. He is one of the first people many listeners think of when they think of industry leaders putting out the best music. In addition to putting out some killer tunes, Jason Aldean has the hardware and accolades to back it up.
Along with five Grammy nominations, Jason Aldean also has CMA and ACM awards to his name. With the level of success that he has achieved, Aldean could easily retire right now and live comfortably for the rest of his days. However, according to Aldean,...

The Top 8 were revealed in a live two-hour broadcast of “American Idol” Sunday night. Host Ryan Seacrest called the Top 10 to the stage to perform on “Birth Year Night,” mentored by Shania Twain. In a poll conducted just after the episode, we asked, “Which contestant gave the best performance of the night?” Fifteen-year-old Triston Harper came out on top with his rendition of “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean. Watch his full performance above.
After his performance, Katy Perry thanked him for “being a student of this game.” Luke Bryan asked, “You trying to out-gyrate me?” Lionel questioned, “Did I just see the Triston strut?” They were eating this performance up and apparently so were viewers at home.
After thousands of votes were recorded, Triston ended up with 19% of the tally, followed by Will Moseley (“Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde”) with 16%, Abi Carter (“Clocks”) with 14% and Kaibrienne (“Here Without You...

What do you do after you’re arrested for allegedly throwing a chair at police from a rooftop bar? If you’re Morgan Wallen, you open your own bar, of course. The country star is set to open his own bar in Nashville. So, what do we know about the plans so far?
Morgan Wallen Has Done More Than Succeed In Music
Wallen has been topping the charts for years as a successful artist. When you reach the level of fame and influence that Wallen has, you can afford to branch out into other things and explore other business ventures. The path was paved by many successful country artists who made the transition to business mogul.
One example from Morgan Wallen is his partnership with Ryl Tea. Wallen partnered with the drink brand to create his own, signature sweet tea. Given everything he sings about, it makes sense for Morgan...

As Willie Nelson once sang, there’s no place but Texas — and some of country music’s hallmark awards shows seem to agree. In the past two years, two big-budget ceremonies have been staged not in Nashville but in the Lone Star State. On Sunday, the CMT Music Awards, airing on CBS, made their return to Austin for a second consecutive year and leaned hard into all the trappings of Texas.

Less than a year after CMT pulled his music video for “Try That in a Small Town” from its rotation, Jason Aldean hit the CMT Music Awards, where he performed his song “Let Your Boys Be Country.”
While the ceremony was broadcast live from the Moody Center in Austin, Aldean’s performance took place on an outdoor stage at the University of Texas at Austin.
In May 2023, the country singer released “Try That in a Small Town,” followed by a music video in July. The track was criticized for promoting gun violence and taking aim at the Black Lives Matter movement.
Critics called out lyrics including: “Cuss out a cop, spit in his face /Stomp on the flag and light it up/Yeah, ya think you’re tough/Well, try that in a small town/See how far ya make it down the road.”

Jason Aldean appeared at the 2024 CMT Music Awards after controversy with the cable music channel over the “Try That In a Small Town” video.
Aldean was not at the Moody Center but performed “Let Your Boys Be Country” from an outside stage at the University of Texas Tower.
The award show was broadcast live on CBS, but months ago, CMT removed the “Try That In A Small Town” music video from its rotation after being criticized for promoting violence.
The lyrics, paired with the images of the music video for “Try That in a Small Town,” bothered many people. In one part of the song, Aldean sings, “got a gun that my granddad gave me, they say one day they’re gonna round up, well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck.”
Following the controversy, Aldean released a statement on X/Twitter denying that his song was anti-blm and pro-lynching.

Ford, 54, performed in Arizona on Thursday night at Dierks Bentley‘s Whiskey Row. Following the show, Ford suffered a heart attack. Ford is being cared for in the intensive care unit in Mesa, Arizona, located near Phoenix.
Ford is known for his mix of country and rap in his music. The musician was formerly a professional golfer and went on the Nationwide Tour. Ford released his debut album in 2008. Ford co-wrote and recorded a version of “Dirt Road Anthem,” also sung by Jason Aldean and released on Aldean’s album My Kinda Country.
Ford has since collaborated with other country music artists such as Keith Urban and Lady A.
In May 2023, Ford revealed he had an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis. The disease, which affects the facial, eyes and throat muscles, has no known cure.

Toby Keith, whose history with the CMT Music Awards goes back to having co-hosted the earliest incarnation of the show, will get his due in the wake of his recent death, as an all-star salute is planned for Keith on Sunday night’s three-hour CBS telecast.
The tribute will feature performances by one of the hottest figures in country music, Lainey Wilson, along with his fellow industry veterans Brooks & Dunn, whose Ronnie Dunn is a fellow Okie. Rocker Sammy Hagar, who featured Keith on an episode of his TV series “Rock & Roll Road Trip” in 2022, will join the lineup paying homage.
Set for what’s being billed as special appearances saluting the late singer are Lukas Nelson and Roger Clemens. Nelson’s father, Willie, had a smash duet with Keith, “Beer for My Horses.” Baseball legend Roger Clemens’ friendship with Keith included the singer inducting the ballplayer into the Houston Sports Hall of Fame.

Country star Jason Aldean is set to make a big return to the 2024 CMT Awards. This is a major moment for Aldean, as it will be his first appearance since the controversy over his hit single. What else do we know so far?
Jason Aldean Is One Of The Biggest Names In Country Music Today
Ask any country fan about their favorite country artists currently making music, and Jason Aldean is sure to be near the top of that list. It’s par for the course these days for Aldean’s name to bring huge audiences, eager to fill seats and pack stadiums to watch him perform.
Jason Aldean is right up there with the likes of Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, and more. Aldean has paid his dues, and because of this, he enjoys the recognition he has now. Unfortunately for Aldean, not all of the attention directed his way has been good.

Less than a year ago, CMT pulled Jason Aldean’s controversial “Try That in a Small Town” music video, ostensibly because the song dealt in white-power tropes and the clip featured footage shot in a place where a Black man was once lynched. Reps for the network didn’t comment at the time on the ban other than that the video would no longer air, so the motives for removing the video perhaps remain unclear. Now the network is welcoming the singer back with open arms.

Tanner Adell fell in love with country music young.
She grew up splitting her time between Los Angeles and Star Valley, Wy, which created a stark contrast - but it was the country lifestyle, and specifically the music, that held her heart. Adell remembers falling in love with Keith Urban when he released "Somebody Like You." And every summer, when she and her mom would set out to drive back to LA from Star Valley, she'd sit in the back of the car and "just silently cry my eyes out as we'd start on this road trip back to California," she remembers.
These days, Adell is a rising country music star. And ever since Beyoncé released "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages" on Super Bowl Sunday and announced her forthcoming country album, the spotlight has been on Black women country artists like her. A lot of that attention has been positive...
