Exclusive: British producer Fired Up Films has teamed up with The Crying Game star Stephen Rea and Beat director Marco Kreuzpaintner on a pair of dramas.
The company, which was set up in 2017 by Simon Howley and Jon-Barrie Waddell, is working with Rea on Irish crime drama Ladder of Angels and with Kreuzpaintner on spy thriller The Increment.
Rea is starring Ladder of Angels, a procedural crime series set in the 1980s, written by Irish author John Connell. The crime drama exposes the dark side of Irish politics and history and Rea, who recently starred in BBC and SundanceTV drama The Honourable Woman, plays Aidan Deane, a seasoned detective and a man of secrets. It is being developed in conjunction with Northern Ireland Screen.

Tara Long, who launched Entertainment One’s U.S. unscripted TV business in 2012, has been promoted to President, Global Unscripted, Television for the studio.
The move comes after Long’s continued success at eOne in the U.S. with key broadcast partners including E!, Bet, We tv, A&E, MTV, Lifetime, VH1, Discovery Channel, and History, as well as growth in the UK following the acquisition of unscripted leaders Whizz Kid Entertainment.

Entertainment One (eOne) has promoted Tara Long to President, Global Unscripted, Television, the company announced Wednesday.
Formerly Evp of Alternative Television, Long joined eOne in 2012 and launched the company’s U.S. unscripted programming business. Since then, she has been responsible for projects like We tv’s “Growing Up Hip Hop” franchise, “Mary Mary,” MTV’s “Ex On The Beach” and “Siesta Key,” E!’s “LadyGang,” Bet’s “Hustle in Brooklyn,” “Death Row Chronicles,” the Emmy-nominated “La Burning: The Riots 25 Years Later,” A&E’s “Biggie: The Life of Notorious B.I.G.” and Gsn’s “America Says.”

The company will co-produce and serve as the studio on scripted and non-scripted content from Fired Up Films, which was established last year by former Kowalski Media chief Simon Howley and Million Dollar Car Hunters producer Jon-Barrie Waddell.
Fired Up Films, which has offices in the UK, Ireland and L.A., aims to produce scripted and non-scripted shows, focusing on blue-chip documentaries factual entertainment formats, feature docs and drama projects.
Between the pair, who first worked together on groundbreaking Channel 4 series The Big Breakfast over 20 years ago, they have produced shows such as Nat Geo’s Hitler’s Hidden Drug Habit, Discovery’s How Jaws Changed The World, Animal Planet’s Texas Rodeo Tikes, History’s How Bruce Lee Changed The World and The Great Train Robbery – A Tale of Two Thieves, which airs on Netflix.
