News emerges that Gosling has launched his own production company, sparking interest in the kind of projects that the Barbie star will be looking to make.
Ryan Gosling has launched General Admission, his own production company. The star is riding high right now with Barbie's success last year cementing his status as a beloved Hollywood celebrity and high-ranking movie star. Gosling also has the big-budget action comedy, The Fall Guy coming next month. That film, directed by Atomic Blonde's David Leitch and co-starring Emily Blunt, has certainly geared its marketing campaign to trade on Gosling’s rising popularity in the wake of Barbie's success.
While there are those out there that might miss the actor opting for less mainstream roles as he used to do, there’s no arguing that Gosling has successfully navigated his career to new heights of fame and opportunity. In Hollywood parlance, he has the ‘juice...

IFC Films has acquired “Holler,” a drama about a woman who joins a dangerous scrap metal crew in order to pay for her college education.
The deal is for North American right. IFC will release the film in June 2021. “Holler” received critical claim both for Nicole Riegel’s work behind the camera and for the lead performance of Jessica Barden. Variety’s Peter Debruge praised the movie’s grit, writing, “‘Holler’ is honest, which is not always what people want from movies, but it isn’t your typical poverty porn. The ReFrame coalition has awarded 26 feature films released in 2019 with its ReFrame Stamp, which recognizes the top 100-grossing gender-balanced narrative and animated features. This reflects gains for women in the important roles of director, department heads, and women of color leads and co-leads. With an aim to increase the number of women of all backgrounds working in film, TV, and media, the ReFrame Stamp, which is showcased in end credits and appears on IMDb, serves as a mark of distinction for projects that have demonstrated success in gender-balanced hiring. Additional points are awarded to content that has women of color in key positions.

HBO Max and its corporate sibling Warner Bros. announced today they’re teaming up to launch a new label that will produce movies for WarnerMedia’s HBO Max streaming service. The label, Warner Max, will produce eight to 10 films annually for the service, which launches in May, with the first titles dropping on the platform at some point this year.
The label will deal in mid-budget releases, the kind of films that have increasingly disappeared from theaters in favor of streaming-only distribution. It’s a strategy already being employed by Disney with its four-month-old Disney+ service: The studio remains committed to theatrical tentpoles like the upcoming Marvel title “Black Widow,” while giving a streaming debut to mid-budget fare like the live-action “Lady and the Tramp.”
Warner Max hasn’t yet made its slate public, but its likely some previously announced projects, like the Melissa McCarthy vehicle “Superintelligence,” will be among...

“Game of Thrones” alum Emilia Clarke and “Crazy Rich Asians” hunk Henry Golding meet-cute in London with the help of some unfortunately aimed bird poop in the trailer for the new big-screen rom-com “Last Christmas.”
Emma Thompson co-wrote the script (with Bryony Kimmings) and co-stars as the mother of Clarke’s character, an aspiring singer stuck working as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop in London — with a boss (Michelle Yeoh) who dubs her “Lazy the Elf.”
Then she meets the too-good-to-be true Tom (Golding), who manages to break through her barriers and help her cope with past traumas as any self-respecting rom-com hero should.

To go along with the company’s massive library, WarnerMedia now has a streaming-bound original to call its own: a romantic comedy anthology starring Anna Kendrick.
“Love Life” will star Kendrick as the same character over the course of an entire season, with each of the 10 half-hour episodes centering on a different chapter in that character’s personal romantic history.
The official overview of the series lists the show as “one of the first series on WarnerMedia’s new streaming service” and “the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are when we finally end up with someone forever.”
The series was announced on Thursday as part of Lionsgate’s earnings call; “Love Life” will be a production of Lionsgate Television and Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment. Sam Boyd wrote the pilot and will direct the series.
