While many of us enjoyed the final hours of a three-day weekend, the remaining So You Think You Can Dance contestants worked overtime for the Fox series’ Labor Day installment.
And oh, what an episode it was. There were tears, courtesy of Mary Murphy. There was an overuse of the word “stupendous,” courtesy of Vanessa Hudgens. And there was some infuriating favoritism of one particular couple, courtesy of Cat Deeley.
All that, and a genuinely shocking elimination — at least for this recapper, who did not see it coming.

Guilty Pleasure. It’s a term I dislike immensely. Why feel guilty about enjoying anything? If you like some, you like something, end of. Another reason I dislike the term guilty pleasure is because the term, at least in movie-related circles, has become synonymous with any movie that is hailed as worthy of critical discussion. Adam Sandler movies are guilty pleasures. The Fast & Furious franchise is (apparently) considered guilty pleasures by some. F that. I like Adam Sandler’s movies, I like the Fast & Furious movies (hell, I’d even go and say I love those!).
But what does that have to do...

While Step Up Revolution was the lowest grossing Step Up film since the first one, it still made over $140 million worldwide on a budget of $33 million. So it makes sense a fifth one would be made and it arrives later this year in the form of Step Up All In. Directed by Trish Sie, the film brings together characters from previous installments including Ryan Guzman, Briana Evigan, Stephen "twitch" Boss, Misha Gabriel, Izabella Miko, Alyson Stoner and Adam Sevani. Sorry, no Channing Tatum or Jenna Dewan, but they haven't been around for some time so I doubt fans will be too upset. This time around the dancing moves to Vegas as for a competition that brings everyone together. Summit will release Step Up All In on July 25. Chicago – The kids in “Step Up” are hardly the children of a revolution. They stand up for nothing of consequence besides the right to dance wherever they please, even if it means blocking several lanes of traffic. There’s no brand of narcissism worse than the self-righteous variety, and these shiny-faced brats have it in spades.
Of course, this fourth installment is in the well-worn tradition of Frankie and Annette beach movies where the hip kids faced off against their elderly conformists. The script by Amanda Brody is so groan-inducing in its contrivances that it’s a wonder why a film like this needs a plot at all. A sturdy clothesline upon which to hang spectacular dance sequences would be more than good enough.
Blu-ray Rating: 1.5/5.0
Unfortunately, a generously large portion of the running time in director Scott Speer’s “Step Up Revolution” is devoted to dialogue written entirely in clichés.

PVR Pictures’ Step Up Revolution, the fourth installment of the unmatched Step Up movie series, is all set to hit the theatres on 3rd August, 2012. In a scintillating prelude to the film’s release, ace choreographer Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe ‘Shabop crew’ presented a medley from the dance themed film. Held on Sunday, July 29th at 5:30 pm at the Phoenix Marketcity Mall, Kurla, the performance combined Hip Hop and Street Funk with some groovy ethnic moves. This is the first time Reliance Digital, the main sponsors of the event, teamed up with PVR Pictures to promote a Hollywood Movie in India.
A group of 20 instructors from Sdipa (Shiamak Davar institute for the Performing Arts) participated in this dance act setting the mood for the much awaited Step Up blockbuster. It was choreographed by mentor Shiamak Davar himself.

New 'Step Up Revolution' movie delivered cool dancing action, drama & more. Summit Entertainment released their new dance/drama flick "Step Up Revolution" into theaters this weekend. I just watched it,and thought it was very entertaining, especially the dance numbers. They served up a lot of good beats and choreography. It stars: Ryan Guzman, Kathryn McCormick, Misha Gabriel, and Peter Gallagher. In the new flick, character Emily Anderson struggles with her wealthy father, trying to convince him that she wants to be a professional dancer. He gives her an ultimatum that if she doesn't land her next dance gig,she has to come work for his company. Character Sean tries to help her out with her dancing, and eventually introduces her to his crew, which is called "The Mob." At first, "The Mob" are competing to be winners of a huge Youtube contest by getting the most hits,...

The Step Up franchise has helped audiences discover the acting and dancing talent of young stars, including Channing Tatum, his future wife Jenna Dewan, Briana Evigan (from Step Up 2 The Streets), and even Adam G. Sevani, who has now appeared in three Step Up films as a character named “Moose.”
In Step Up Revolution, the fourth film in the franchise, this story of star-crossed dancers takes audience members to Miami, where a flash dance group called “The Mob” (featuring Guzman & McCormick) are trying to stop evil corporate powers from destroying their community.
Guzman comes from a background of modeling and Mma fighting, and this is his first professional dance project. No stranger to the TV cameras, McCormick can be seen on “So You Think You Can Dance?” as a regular performer. Step Up Revolution marks their feature acting debuts.

Chicago – The beauty of the movies is their ability to create weird parallel universes, where young dance crews have the choreography skills of a hip-hop Bob Fosse, the time/funding to create this dance and a law enforcement culture that allows it. Welcome to the “Step Up Revolution.”
Rating: 3.0/5.0
This the fourth installment of the Step Up series of films, and the first two helped launch the career of Channing Tatum. There is a major difference in this chapter – instead of dance crews competing with one another, they use their choreographic power to create flash mobs. This makes for some energetic and entertaining dance moments in this exercise, but the story between the grooves is ludicrous and laughable. But were there ever such complaints about a Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland similarity back in the day? As in those features, it’s not about the story, it’s about hey-kids-let’s-put-on-a-flash-mob.

And now here’s a modern-day riff on the ole’ Judy and Mickey flicks! You know, ” Come on kids, let’s put on a show in the old barn! “. Except now they’d strut their moves on the internet. Perhaps, they’d be part of a flash mob ( a nice one, like on that Howie Mandel TV show, not the ones on the news that steal and vandalize ). That’s the main hook in the fourth installment ( the first one introduce movie audiences to Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum ) in the dance flick franchise, Step Up Revolution ( and like the last one, this can be viewed in 3D ). There’s a couple of cameos by dancers from previous ” Step-Ups “, but we’re dealing with brand new main characters and a new setting.

While die-hard fans and dance fanatics will respond on the opening weekend, ongoing competition from superheroes and cute cartoon characters may slow momentum in subsequent weeks.

Together with their crew, including choreographers, visual artists and a DJ, the guys have been busting...

As we were psyching ourselves up for our Summer Movie Preview week and the movie season in general, we decided to ask the stars themselves what flicks they’re looking forward to. Some of them, as you can see in the video above, had their answers ready: The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus and Rock of Ages were popular choices. Others, like Michelle Williams, gave us embarrassed looks as they admitted to not having a ready made movie calendar in their heads. Well, Michelle and the rest of the you can relax now. We’ve got a handy-dandy list here. And before, while and after you print it out, don’t forget to vote for your favorite Heroes, Heroines, Villains and Funny Ladies from this summer’s movies!

Well, who wants to bet they'll be smoke signals coming from the set of the new cable series True Detectives, which is going to star Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey?
More shakeups at Days of Our Lives, with the show reportedly axing Matthew Ashford (Jack), Patrick Muldoon (Austin) and Christie Clark (Carrie) and Sarah Brown (Madison). I worry about the future of our young gays.
Betty White has joined Twitter. All is right with the world.
One Direction, who had a big week on SNL, iCarly, and a juicy blind item that may have been about them, is the focus of a $1 million lawsuit over the band's name, which is already taken by an unsigned band in the U.S.
Mitt Romney does his best "gay voice" when choosing a tie. Ugh.

Let's face it: No one can dance like Michael Jackson. That first televised moonwalk in 1983, the zombified swagger of the "Thriller" video, the coordinated gang face-off in "Beat It" — the list goes on and on, and is as long as it is impressive, as difficult to replicate as it is to comprehend.
And when it comes to that last point, well, who cares? Who hasn't tried to mimic the moonwalk, to bust a move to "Beat It"? With just these facts in mind, we asked Michael Jackson's own dancers — the talented men and women working alongside the King of Pop as they rehearsed for his "This Is It" concert series — if they could give us...
