Here's Why The Acolyte's Ensign Eurus Might Look Familiar to YouTube Fans - Main Image
Star Wars The Acolyte gives franchise fans a sneak peek at life during the High Republic era.
The series takes a step back and brings everyone 100 years before the events of the Phantom Menace. It introduces several new characters, including Jedi Master Sol, Yord, Osha, and Mother Aniseya.
Star Wars fans also noticed one particular character who has yet to appear in the TV show: Ensign Eurus. She appears in one of the series' first trailers, and fans quickly realised that the actress playing her looks familiar.
British actress and YouTuber Abigail Thorne will play Ensign Eurus.
Abigail started her career on YouTube and eventually became an actress for multiple series, such as Ladhood and Django. She also appeared as Nocturne in the 2023 Goty winner Baldur’s Gate 3.

At the conclusion of the third season of "Star Trek: Picard," after the villains had been defeated, showrunner Terry Matalas had properly and carefully set up another "Star Trek" spinoff series, should Paramount+ have wanted it. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) had received a posthumous recommendation for a captaincy from her late commanding officer Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick) and was put in command of the U.S.S. Titan-a, now newly rechristened the U.S.S. Enterprise-g. One can perhaps assume that the rechristening was a special favor for the aging Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) now over 100 and happy to have a legacy.
Also serving on the Enterprise-g were a raft of characters seen throughout "Picard," most notably Seven's ex-girlfriend Raffi (Michelle Hurd), who would serve as her first officer. Picard's adult son Jack (Ed Speleers) was hastened through Starfleet Academy and was already serving as an ensign. Also...

The upcoming second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will include a crossover episode with Star Trek: Lower Decks, but if the cast have their way… it won’t be the last crossover for the series. While speaking with SFX Magazine, Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount (Pike) and Ethan Peck (Spock) are holding out hope for a crossover with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
“I’d have to say The Next Generation,” Ethan Peck said, “Just because I’ve gotten now to work with Jonathan Frakes and I’ve gotten to know some of the cast. They’re so fun and wonderful and I’ve become a fan of the show. Furthermore, I think Data is my all-time favourite character. It would be a dream come true to have a scene between Spock and Data. Played by Brent Spiner, of course.“

The first season of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" concluded on July 7, 2022, with the finale rounding out what might be one of the strongest debut years in "Star Trek" history. It's commonly accepted among Trekkies that Trek shows -— however interesting their cast, characters, and setting -- start at a low ebb in writing and quality; Trek is the poster child for the phrase "It gets good in season 3." "Strange New Worlds," breaking the trend, was good right out of the gate. Trek functions best as individual episodes (as opposed to season-long story arcs like those attempted in "Discovery" and "Picard"), as well as a workplace show. The characters' personal lives matter less than how they behave when they're on the clock.
It might have been expected that "Strange New Worlds" was renewed for a second season, as Paramount+ is putting all its eggs in one starship (the service has...

We may be saying goodbye to Star Trek: Discovery after its upcoming fifth season (in 2024), but there are plenty of other shows in the franchise that aren’t going anywhere. Paramount+ has announced that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks will return with their new seasons this summer and both have been renewed for additional 10-episode seasons. Also returning is Star Trek: Prodigy this winter. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, June 15. Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 will debut in the late summer, with an exact date to be announced at a later time. It’s on Strange New Worlds that we’ll be getting that special live-action and animated crossover with Lower Decks‘ Tawny Newsome as Ensign Beckett Mariner and Jack Quaid as Ensign Brad Boimler joining the U.S.S. Enterprise. It was directed by Star Trek: The Next Generation and Picard actor and director Jonathan Frakes.

Jameela Jamil is an actress at the forefront of pop culture consciousness with her outrageously fabulous role as Titania on Disney+'s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, providing the voice of Wonder Woman on DC's League of Super-Pets, and joining the cast of Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin.
Jamil is also a real-life agent for change -- taking on the diet industry and calling out platforms and celebrities who promote unhealthy body imagery while also promoting racial inclusivity and celebrating women's accomplishments -- so it's fitting that her character on Paramount+'s Star Trek: Prodigy is a game-changer in her own right.
In a stunning turn of events at the conclusion of Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Episode 15, the exemplary Ensign Asencia reveals herself as a Vau N'Akat agent. On Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Episode 16, we learn the tragic backstory that led her to Janeway's Dauntless.

Introducing a new generation of viewers to Star Trek 'verse means framing situations for learning without the safety (or tedium) of lecture-heavy exposition.
Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Episode 12 is a master class of how showing is greater than telling.
Also, how in some cases, doing is better than listening. Of course, listening has less chance of assimilation. Just saying.
In the decades since the Borg made their debut on Star Trek: The Next Generation, it's incredible that I've never considered the Borg Collective as a metaphor for popular/powerful cliques at the school level. It took positioning them in reference to a group of kids for me to see it.
Against the backdrop of adults, the Borg hive mind looks more like a contrast of ideologies and culture.
When Zero plugs into the collective consciousness, it instantly invokes the brainwashing, fear-feeding, need-to-belong mob mentality of every adolescent "in-crowd."

We've danced around Mariner's inevitable departure/ejection from Starfleet for a long time. Honestly, it's kind of amazing she lasted until Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 9, with Ransom breathing down her neck since the end of Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 1.
However, being exiled to Starbase 80 for something she actually Didn't do (after all the crazy things she's fully owned up to doing) is some top-shelf irony right there.
Meanwhile, the follow-up with the Ornarans is an awesome -- possibly my favorite yet -- throwback to one of the earliest moral quandaries of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The idea of Project Swing-By was introduced way back on Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 1 Episode 10, -- which, incidentally, was also when we met Peanut Hamper And thought we saw the last of Badgey -- when Freeman comments to Ransom that the Federation should revisit planets they've made contact with...

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" is a lot of fun whether you're a seasoned "Star Trek" fan or new to the franchise, but nearly every episode has Easter eggs and references for the franchise faithful to sink their fake Ferengi fangs into. There's a little something for everyone, whether you're an original series die-hard or just go gaga for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." The Easter eggs can be a few lines of dialogue, a story beat, or even just some fun background decor, but nearly every episode is guaranteed to have some fun extras in store for "Trek" fans to devour.
The episodes that allow for the most ridiculous fan-service and the most Easter eggs, however, are the holodeck episodes, where our intrepid team of Ensigns can let their freak flags fly and explore every corner of the "Star Trek" universe.

A new trailer for the third and final season of Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Picard” launched out of New York Comic Con Saturday, revealing new additions to the Patrick Stewart-led show’s cast — including the return of some iconic villains from “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
Per Paramount+, Brent Spiner will be back on “Picard,” not as Data, but as a character the streamer describes as “named Lore” — evoking one of the most formidable villains in “Next Generation” history: Data’s evil twin brother, Lore, who was defeated and disassembled at the beginning of Season 7 of “Next Gen.” Additionally, Daniel Davis will return as Professor Moriarty from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” the Holodeck personification of a fictional character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to be an enemy for Sherlock Holmes. “Next Gen’s” Moriarty ended up becoming self aware.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 8
The latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks sees the return of the conniving and unscrupulous exocomp, Peanut Hamper. She also accompanies the introduction of a new alien species we hope to see again in the Star Trek universe.
The last time the USS Cerritos encountered Peanut Hamper (Kether Donohue) she left the ship in the proverbial lurch (season one’s “No Small Parts”). After passing on the heroic chance to save the Cerritos by refusing to deliver a virus to an enemy vessel attacking the ship, Peanut Hamper transports away from the Lower Deckers, congratulating herself on her own good judgment – only to see the USS Titan arrive and rescue the crippled Cerritos, leaving Peanut Hamper alone in a debris field to fend for herself for two years. Guess the joke was on her.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Episode 5
There’s a lot of looking back in this week’s episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which is appropriately titled: “Reflections.”
The first subplot is rife with suspicion, involving Ensign Sam Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) who, after a routine purge of his implant’s memory cache starts to experience problems with a suppressed personality and memories that suggest that the lovable and happy-go-lucky Rutherford isn’t exactly the person we all thought he once was.
“Rutherford is a character who is all about memories and identity – he always knows who he is,” Star Trek: Lower Decks showrunner Mike McMahan tells us, setting the scene for a storyline that throws some of the perceptions we have about Rutherford into a bit of doubt. Any franchise that has managed to stick around for over five decades is bound to suffer a few rough patches along the way. With a property like "Star Trek," however, even those swings and misses have the potential to find their way into the hearts of at least some dedicated fans. As the irreverent animated series "Star Trek: Lower Decks" emphatically proves, there's truly something for everyone. Need a break from the fast-paced serialization of "Star Trek: Discovery" or even "Strange New Worlds" and its throwback charms? Well, how about taking a more self-deprecating (and oftentimes vulgar) approach to the buttoned-up professionalism of Starfleet that we usually see depicted?
That ability to make fun of itself is exactly why "Lower Decks" has become such an unexpected source of celebrating some of the most obscure, underappreciated, and even widely panned aspects of "Trek." This ongoing season alone has explored the unseen locations of a Starfleet vessel,...

Prior to "Star Trek: Lower Decks," the experiences of lower-ranking Starfleet officers were largely placed in the hands of the notoriously goody-goody character of Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Wesley was exceptionally bright, and despite having lost his father in the service, dreams of joining Starfleet himself. He is supernaturally motivated, and is constantly seen studying, reading, and conducting scientific experiments in his spare time. He is also obnoxiously squeaky clean, once notoriously asking Lt. Yar (Denise Crosby) why anyone would ever want to do drugs. Wesley is, in short, a narc.
Wesley would eventually make some pretty rash mistakes at Starfleet Academy, and end up leaving the service to galavant about the galaxy as a semi-supernatural energy being. But Starfleet was presented as -- as Wesley seemed to feel -- the ultimate goal of a youth well spent. It was the best possible career.

"The Orville," a comedy series inspired by "Star Trek," is the story of a group of Planetary Union members who set off to explore new worlds in the 25th century. For two seasons the series created by Seth MacFarlane aired on Fox. After a three-year hiatus, lengthened by the global pandemic, viewers finally got a third season. This time around, the show was re-titled "The Orville: New Horizons," and it moved from Fox to Hulu.
MacFarlane explained the move from network to streaming in a statement at the time (via TVLine):
" ... as the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show."
Some of the cast members weren't originally happy with the relocation and changes,...

This review of The Orville: New Horizons contains spoilers.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 10
The episode title “Future Unknown” represents so many aspects of what is occurring both on and off screen within the Orville universe. Most notably, the show is still awaiting word on an official renewal from Hulu and parent-company Disney. Yes, fans want to know about their beloved show, and what is going to happen in our reality, but within the fictional reality of the series, there’s much to deal with as well.
After last week’s universe-shaking episode, “Domino,” there was a major shift in the dynamic of the overall story. An uneasy peace was reached with the Kaylon, the Union found themselves up against a new antagonistic alliance, and most importantly: we lost spitfire Ensign Charly Burke when she sacrificed herself to save the Kaylon race and, in turn, foster that aforementioned fragile truce.

As far as redemption arcs go, The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 9 manages a strong follow-through on the one it teed up on the premiere with Ensign Charly Burke.
Between developing a genocidal weapon and paying spiritual homage to A New Hope's Rebel attack on the Deathstar, there is more than enough narrative material to flesh out a feature film. Still, it all fits into the brevity of a mere hour and eighteen minutes.
For Isaac to have the final speech at Burke's memorial is a magnificent bookend to his own funeral on The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 1, and including the pancake story she told him just before expressing her hate for him and all Kaylons was an especially elegant conclusion to their relationship.
Faithful readers will know that I've never been able to connect to Ensign Burke's character or her internal conflict.
Her four-dimensional thinking ability seemed like...
