“Holey Moley” – which airs its Season 4 finale Tuesday night on ABC and is available to stream the next day on Hulu – is unlike anything else on television. It’s ostensibly an extreme mini-golf competition show, where contestants work their way through a gauntlet of oversized obstacles. (An example of said obstacles? The Distracter has contestants shooting a 15-foot putt past a wild distraction on the course – everything from a mariachi band playing riotously to a drill sergeant yelling in your face.) The courses truly test the physical and mental stamina of its players. And this week, they’re going for the jackpot – a chance to win a whopping 250,000.
But it’s also one of the funniest shows on TV. Not only are the courses themselves insane and hilarious, but it’s hosted by two of the most engaging personalities on television. Comedian Rob Riggle, a veteran of “Saturday Night Live” and “Step Brothers,...

Mini-golf reality competition Holey Moley returned with a two-hour premiere that drove ABC to a ratings win on Thursday night.
Hosted by Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore, Holey Moley’s junior season opened to a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.05 million viewers, per Nielsen Live+Same Day fast affiliates. Ratings for the series remained steady with a new follow-up episode, but dropped slightly from the previous hour.

CBS’s Young Sheldon was the most-watched program Thursday night, raking in 3.69M viewers and a 0.4 rating.

The 10-episode third season picks up where Season 2 left off. “After U.S. Assistant District Attorney Lincoln Potter threatens to deport Felipe, Ez and Angel chose to leverage incriminating information to protect him rather than to free rebel leader Adelita from federal custody, leaving her to give birth to Angel’s son while in handcuffs,” per the official synopsis. “Meanwhile, Miguel Galindo is...

Exclusive: ABC is doubling down on putt-putt.
Deadline understands that the Disney-owned network has handed a bumper two-season renewal order for mini-golf competition Holey Moley, taking it through to a fourth season.
The nonscripted series has performed well for the network during the summer; the second season increased ratings from its first and has been a useful co-viewing show for the broadcaster. ABC also increased the run for the second season to 13 episodes, up from 10 in Season 1.
The Stephen Curry-exec produced show features self-proclaimed mini-golf lovers from around the country as they compete head-to-head through an epic obstacle golf course. The second season, which premiered in May, saw a bigger course with new holes, more drama, trick shots and wipeouts.
Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2020-21 Season
Hosts Rob Riggle and Joe Tessitore will return alongside sideline correspondent Jeannie Mai as well as executive producer and resident golf pro Curry.

Chandra Wilson is a self-proclaimed Rock star. The Grey’s Anatomy vet, who appears in the premiere episode of ABC’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (airing Thursday, Jan. 7 at 8/7c), finds herself lightly grilled by host Pat Sajak about the A-lister she is most often mistaken for.
“Chris Rock,” the actress behind Miranda Bailey cracks in the exclusive clip above. The quip is all the more amusing — at least in Sajak’s eyes — seeing as how it immediately follows fellow contestant Leslie Jones’ assertion that Rock is her unofficial doppelganger, too. (You’ll have to watch the clip to see who Player No.

In a crucial moment for any TV network that wants to stay in the business of broadcasting NFL football games, ESPN this evening is calling in some big guns.
Before kickoff on tonight’s “Monday Night Football,” the sports-media giant will feature an opening segment designed with help from colleagues at Disney sibling Marvel. The montage looks similar to the opening of one of the studio’s super-hero blockbusters. Viewers will hear narration from Samuel L. Jackson, the actor who plays Nick Fury and has enjoyed a continuing presence in Marvel’s popular films. They will see players from tonight’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens depicted as if they were superheroes from one of Marvel’s colorful comic books. And then they will hear “Heavy Action,” the theme that has been have been an audio hallmark of the program since its tenure on ABC.

ABC non-scripted boss Rob Mills would be “shocked” if summer game show Holey Moley doesn’t return for a third season next summer.
Mills has also opened talks with the team behind Don’t, including Ryan Reynolds, about what a second season of the Adam Scott-hosted format looks like.
Mini-golf competition series Holey Moley has been a strong performer for the Disney-owned network this summer, up from its first season, with the broadcaster teeing up two special episodes of the show after it ends its run.
The Steph Curry-exec produced show features self-proclaimed mini-golf lovers from around the country as they compete head-to-head through an epic obstacle golf course. The second season, which premiered on July 20, saw a bigger course with new holes, more drama, trick shots and wipeouts. Hosted by Rob Riggle and Monday Night Football’s Joe Tessitore, the show is produced by Eureka Productions and Unanimous Media.

When “Holey Moley” arrived as the perfect summer popcorn TV show last June, it was born from a perfect formula. Take mini golf, one of the country’s most easily agreed upon pastimes, and add the strange physical endurance tests of “Wipeout.” All the tension of a tournament-winning putt, combined with Americans’ innate fascination with watching reality show contestants sacrifice themselves for arbitrary gains.
So far, the second season has kept pretty much everything from that first round intact. Between the crowning added touches and a vastly different cultural landscape than the one that the show first premiered in, this new batch of episodes has underlined all the reasons why “Holey Moley” is a perfectly pitched TV tonic. And it’s here at just the right time.

“The Sopranos” premiered in 1999, promising a new era in which television would supplant film as not just the dominant mode of entertainment in the English-speaking world, but also the most rich and engaging form of cultural expression.
Twenty years later, ABC debuted “Holey Moley.”
Which of the two shows proves to be a more legitimate claimant to the title of Goat is long to be determined. Critics and academics, after all, have had many years to parse the legacy of the former show — while the second season of the latter is set to premiere Thursday night on the Alphabet.

Martha Hart, the widow of late WWE Superstar Owen Hart, has “no relationship” with her brother-in-law Bret “Hitman” Hart, she told TheWrap. But it wasn’t always that way.
“Unfortunately, I have no relationship with Bret,” Martha Hart told us ahead of the premiere for Vice’s “Dark Side of the Ring” Season 2 finale, “The Final Days of Owen Hart.”
“Bret was supportive throughout the lawsuit, but there were a few things that were a problem with Bret,” she said. “First of all, when we were going through the lawsuit, he really was hoping that I would be able to help him get his wrestling footage. Because at the time, he had no relationship with WWE and he was hoping somehow — if we ever had a settlement — that we could work it in.”

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has officially signed with WWE, an insider told TheWrap exclusively. The ex-NFL great is set to debut one week from Friday on the March 20 episode of Fox’s “SmackDown.”
Gronk is also due to appear at April 5’s WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Fla., the insider told TheWrap. Current plans call for that appearance to be part of a build-up to a future match. In other words, the three-time Super Bowl champion will not have a match at the Super Bowl of professional wrestling — this year, at least.
The “SmackDown” debut makes sense for Gronk, who joined Fox Sports in October as an NFL analyst. Gronkowski’s Fox Sports deal spans multiple years, a Fox Sports spokesperson told TheWrap, and the expectation is that his football gig will continue.

Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder in their big Saturday night rematch by way of technical knockout in the seventh round. Fury is now the Wbc Heavyweight Champion.
Fury was in command throughout the entire fight, even scoring multiple knockdowns against his dangerous opponent. Fury had one point deducted in the fifth, however, which also gave the reeling Wilder an extra couple of precious seconds to recover while in a heap of trouble.
The whole time, Wilder was looking to land one devastating right hand. He never came very close. Wilder’s own corner threw in the towel in Round 7, and the referee abided.

“When you score an individual round it should almost be like you have your pen in the middle of a pad of paper, like a spectrum, where one guy’s name is all the way on the right side, one guy’s name is all the way on the left side,” Tessitore told TheWrap.

Treat your Bic like a polling meter or a focus group dial, he suggested.

ABC’s mini-golf competition “Holey Moley” reached 10 million multi-platform viewers in the three days following its debut last week, the network said Wednesday.
The number builds on the 4.8 million same-day viewers who tuned into the episode the night of the reality competition show’s debut, and factors in a rerun of the episode on Sunday after the Nik Wallenda stunt show “Highwire Live.”
The rollout of “Holey Moley” has largely been a success for ABC, with the debut ranking as one of the most-watched new series premieres of the summer season. The network’s reboots of the classic gameshows “Press Your Luck” and “Card Sharks” have similarly performed well.
