“NCIS” and “The Neighborhood” have both been renewed at CBS.
The renewal will bring “NCIS” to its 22nd season, while “The Neighborhood” will be back for its seventh season. Both shows currently air on Mondays on the broadcast network.
“’The Neighborhood’ and ‘NCIS’ are the very best definition of a CBS comedy and drama,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “They embody authentic storytelling with heart, humor, and family dynamics. We are proud to bring them back next season.”
“NCIS” has long been a cornerstone of the CBS scripted lineup. Per CBS, the series is still averaging 12.9 million multiplatform viewers, even this late in its run. The show serves as the foundation for a TV franchise that continues to pay off for CBS and parent company Paramount. CBS also currently airs “NCIS: Hawaii” while “NCIS: Sydney” airs on Paramount+ and CBS. CBS is also at work on a prequel...

NCIS star Michael Weatherly didn’t initially mind being No. 2 to the show’s lead Mark Harmon on and off screen. But after several years, Weatherly became a bit tired of his status on the show.

Weatherly’s Tony Dinozzo was a reliable second hand for Leroy Gibbs on the hit series. This dynamic was present behind the scenes as well. Harmon received top billing over Weatherly and the rest of the cast. This wouldn’t last long, however, as Weatherly would say his goodbyes to NCIS after its 15th season. His desire to explore more creative opportunities played a huge part in his departure. But Weatherly also looked forward to stepping out the shadow of being a constant number two.
“You can’t be in that No. 2 slot [on Gibbs’ team] forever,” Weatherly once told TV Line.

NCIS star Mark Harmon leaving the franchise was a shock to many. A few fans felt that Harmon and his character Leroy Gibbs meant too much to the show for him to ever walk away. Including Michael Weatherly.

NCIS has teased fans with Harmon leaving the show a few times. The series has had a few cliffhangers where the fate of Harmon’s Leroy Gibbs is up in the air. However, no one truly believed that Gibbs would end up dying, or that Harmon would leave the show as a result. Especially Weatherly. When Harmon’s Leroy Gibbs ended up in a life-or-death situation, Weatherly had no doubts that the character would be back.

Fans didn’t see NCIS stars like Mark Harmon on too many projects besides his hit show. Even Harmon, who’d done a few movies in the past, did far fewer films while on NCIS. This actor explained why this was the case.

A few NCIS stars already know what it’s like to do feature films. However, the long-running procedural might be the project they’re all mostly known for. Whereas it wasn’t uncommon for actors on TV to make movies, the NCIS crew mainly devoted time to the show. Pauley Perrette confided that there was more than one reason for this decision.
“When you’re on a sitcom, you work four days a week. You do a couple table reads, you do it in front of an audience, and then you go home.

NCIS star Michael Weatherly lasted on the long-running procedural for 13 seasons before leaving the show. Afterward, the actor would star in another network series Bull. However, Bull wasn’t the kind of tv show Weatherly thought he’d ever find himself in again.
How Michael Weatherly ended up in ‘Bull’ after doing ‘NCIS’ Michael Weatherly | Toni Anne Barson/WireImage
Weatherly had a long run on NCIS before deciding to call it quits. There was no controversy involved in his departure. Rather, after so many years of playing Tony Dinozzo, he was ready to do something different. This would lead him towards a completely different series in CBS’ Bull. There, Weatherly played psychologist Jason Bull, who was the head of a consulting firm that would choose juries for high-profile trials.
But initially, Weatherly had no intention of doing a network television series. Although he did want to challenge himself after NCIS,...

NCIS expanded its universe in 2014 by launching its spin-off series New Orleans. The idea was initially conceived by late NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg. But actor Mark Harmon might’ve been the reason it became another show entirely.

NCIS already saw how profitable a spin-off series could be. In 2009, the series spawned NCIS Los Angeles. The show would see LL Cool J and Chris O. Donnell in the leads, with the series once achieving similar ratings to NCIS.
NCIS New Orleans would later enjoy similar successes in the beginning of its run. But unlike Los Angeles, New Orleans wasn’t first conceived as a spin-off show. The show-runner at the time, the late Gary Glasberg, envisioned a special NCIS episode that would take place in New Orleans. When Glasberg told Harmon about the idea,...

NCIS said goodbye to the late David McCallum in an emotional tribute episode that saw the surprise return of one character and an update on another.
McCallum passed away in September 2023 at the age of 90 after playing chief medical examiner Ducky for two decades on the beloved CBS procedural drama.
Brian Dietzen, who plays Ducky’s protégé Dr. Jimmy Palmer, wrote the episode, “The Stories We Leave Behind.”
“We wanted to honor a life well-lived, 60 years in this business and 20 years on our show,” Dietzen told USA Today. “This allows fans to grieve with us. We’ve all experienced this loss. Both his TV family and his real family are feeling pain and grief right now. The small comfort all of us can take is David was 90 and lived so many lives to the fullest within those 90 years. He took advantage of every last breath.”
So, how was Ducky written off the show?...

NCIS hit a huge milestone this season. The long-running crime drama is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary on CBS, and Rocky Carroll, who plays Leon Vance in the series, recently hinted that Mark Harmon might return for the historic year.
Harmon, who also serves as a producer of NCIS, left the beloved show after season 19. While fans would love to see Harmon back in action, even if it is in a minor role, Carroll isn’t the only one who has teased his potential return to the show.

“Scandal” alum Darby Stanchfield has signed on to star in Netflix’s upcoming horror/fantasy series “Locke and Key,” TheWrap has learned.
“Locke and Key” follows the Locke family — Nina (Stanchfield) and her three children — who move across the country to Nina’s family home (called the Keyhouse) after Nina’s husband Rendell is murdered. Once there, they discover that the house hides numerous horrifying supernatural secrets — and answers to the mystery of Rendell’s murder.
Netflix picked up the project, which is based on the Idw Publishing comic book franchise of the same name, for a 10-episode order last July, after Hulu passed on the pilot. In the Hulu version, Frances O’Connor played Stanchfield’s role — but she wasn’t the original Nina either. Back in 2011, “Locke & Key” was a pilot at Fox, and Miranda Otto was cast as Nina.
