In this era of bounteous streaming series, a steady stream of cinematically-released films, internet oddities and beyond, you’d be forgiven for thinking that nearly every story has, at this point, been told already. And then something comes along to remind you that there are still original ideas left in the world: like, what if there was a show in which a human woman was turned by a machine into a chicken nugget, leaving her father and an intern who has a crush on her to try and turn her back into a human? That sound you hear is Joseph Campbell’s brain exploding. This is the premise of a new Netflix series titled – you guessed it – Chicken Nugget, and it comes from South Korean writer-director Lee Byeong-heon. Check out the wild trailer here:
Well… there it is. Your standard woman-becomes-chicken-nugget show. It is – in a glorious turn of phrase...

My Demon is turning out to be quite funny and has some surprisingly real moments in its absurd plot. That is a very common K-drama trait as it is, but this show is looking to be more interesting than the description made it out to be. Additionally, we all love a good old-fashioned enemies-to-lovers K-drama with a simple plot and lots of swoon-worthy moments (King the Land being the biggest example of the year). It doesn’t hurt that the show doesn’t hesitate to have entire scenes of just Song Kang and Kim You-Jung’s perfect faces, and the fashion is, as always, impeccable. It’s nice to see a rich female lead for once (I’m glad that’s changing). Episode 1 of My Demon ended with Gu-Won and Do-Hee drowning but later waking up on a beach somewhere. That’s when Gu-Won realizes the cross on his hand is now on Do-Hee’s,...

Netflix has its A-game on when it comes to Korean dramas, as it releases a new fantastic show, or at least, an addicting one, on a weekly basis. Recently, we’ve had some gems like Doona, Castaway Diva, and A Time Called You that have been loved by audiences and critics alike. Now, it’s finally time for the highly anticipated Song Kang and Kim You-Jung-starring K-drama My Demon to have us on our knees begging for mercy. Alright, this is a very unserious statement, but everyone’s just so excited to be taken in by this girlboss-demon combination that we can’t help but imagine it’s going to be a super hit even if it manages to bring nothing new to the table. People are already screaming about the “face cards” these two very attractive actors are bringing to the show, which is reason enough to give it a go.

Set in South Korea during the late ’90s, sentimental rom-com “20th Century Girl” offers local audiences a generous helping of nostalgia, while feeding Westerners’ growing appetite for content from the country that gave them BTS and “Squid Game.” Director Bang Woo-ri’s feature debut follows a 17-year-old as she navigates her life-changing first love and the intricacy of female friendship, joining the list of big- and smallscreen Korean love stories set in the era, including “Architecture 101” and “Twenty-Five and Twenty-One.” Available worldwide via Netflix, the coming-of-age movie offers a memorable study of how youthful errors, however silly or trivial, can define our lives.
It begins as a 17-year-old Bo-ra (Kim You-jung) says goodbye to best friend Yeon-doo (Noh Yoon-seo) as she leaves for the U.S. to undergo a serious heart surgery. During their time apart, Bo-ra is asked to find out all she can about her friend’s crush,...
