Tribeca Film will release on January 7 2014 on digital followed by theatrical 10 days later. The distributor brokered the deal with uMedia on behalf of the film-makers.

"In Lieu of Flowers" approaches indie romance in a fresh way by showcasing the discovery of new love amidst the ruins of dying love. The film follows Spencer Grammer ("Greek") as Rachel and Josh Pence ("The Social Network") as Eric, who've both had a hard time letting go of their past relationships but find solace in each other through their burgeoning friendship. Their friendship gets a bit more complicated along the way as they start to develop deeper feelings for one another.
