Chris Sligh has been diagnosed with pneumonia after testing positive for coronavirus. The American Idol alum confirmed the news on Tuesday. According to a statement obtained by E! News, the 42-year-old singer was notified on June 24 that a co-writer had been exposed to Covid-19. Sligh then began exhibiting coronavirus symptoms on June 25. He was tested for Covid-19 on June 27, and the test came back positive. His wife, Sarah, and his children—Keira , 9, and McCartney, 7—tested positive for coronavirus the following week. "The kids have completely recovered and Sarah seems to be through the worst of it," he said in a statement to E! News. On July 6, Sligh was admitted to the...

“The Voice” aired the second of four episodes dedicated to the knockout round of season 14 on April 3. As it was only an hour long, it featured just three match-ups but still managed to produce a lot of drama. This is the final pre-taped stage of the competition that will cull the 32 remaining artists down to 20 for the live shows. The four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton — no longer pick the songs that their artists perform in match-ups against each other.
However, they do get to declare a winner of the sing-off and each can steal one of the rejects of the other three. Keys did just that on night 1 when she nabbed Jackie Foster after Levine spurned her. And they can save one artist from their team as well: Levine did that with Drew Cole while Shelton did the same with Austin Giorgio.

Hannah is going through a rough time in her life: she has a severe case of asthma, a severe bout of depression and a severe crush on her best friend who is dating someone else. After having a panic-induced seizure onstage during her debut in a new play, Hannah learns that she was born severely prematurely—24 weeks—as the result of a failed abortion. Thus, Hannah begins her empowering journey of self-discovery and forgiveness in Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin's October Baby.
Rachel Hendrix takes to the role of Hannah with a bipolar enthusiasm to match the bipolar tone of the film. What starts as an unbearably melodramatic series of revelations haphazardly switches to a light-hearted college road trip comedy. Hannah joins best friend—and major crush—Jason (Jason Burkey) along with his girlfriend Alanna (Colleen Trusler); comedic sidekick Truman (James Austin Johnson) and the comedic sidekick’s comedic...

There’s this weird part of the week — from Friday morning till Monday evening — when not a single major TV network airs a reality singing competition. It’s terrible, I know, but it also gives me a lot of time to ponder American Idol history. (Everyone does this in their free time, yes?) And my latest flight of Idol fancy got me mulling this question: Was Season 11′s Top 10 the strongest — top to bottom — in show history? Let’s examine:
For starters, I’d automatically rule out the five seasons with three or more Top 10 contestants who probably wouldn’t have outlasted Season 11′s No.

Shed no tears for the 10th-place finisher on Season 11 of American Idol. (Well, unless you feel sorry for said contestant having had to endure the up-close sight of Randy Jackson’s sequined creepyface/Golliwogg/Tubby Toast pin during Wednesday’s performance show.)
But in all seriousness, this season, it seems there’s a little less sting following in the footsteps of such Idol footnotes as Julia Demato, Jessica Sierra, Lisa Tucker, Chris Sligh, and Chikezie — at least when you consider how incredibly deep and evenly matched this season’s Top 10 truly is.

Top 13 Guys: American Idol Recap
Let's start this season of American Idol right: with a multiple choice test. Don't worry, much like the Idol judges, I won't fail you, and the right answer will mean as much to you as the outcome of last night's show.
Which of the following was most annoying last night?
A: The fact that even with a new set and increased promises that this was the best season ever, nothing seemed to have changed from last year.
B. That the little constructive criticism given last night seemed to be aimed at producer favorites, feeling a little like Idol trying to use reverse psychology
C. That it was never certain exactly who had control over song choice
D. That we were supposed to laugh at the judge's antics, when in fact they were boorish and borderline offensive
E. That Heejun has been given the 'funny' edit,...

We kick off the Milwaukee "American Idol" auditions with Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson's impromptu "Sweet Emotion." Heh. Ryan Seacrest informs us that this is the show's first time in Milwaukee for auditions and naturally native son Danny Gokey is there to lend a hand.
In the montage of good ol' Midwestern auditioners, we spy a girl from Cedar Falls, Ia alongside the Cf sign, which is our hometown. Excitement. You go, little girl.
But first we have Scott McCreary, an adorable 16-year-old with a very deep voice. He sings "Your Man" and wow, he has such an old-school country voice. The deep stuff is fantastic. Steven Tyler asks for something a little more contemporary and he busts out some Travis Tritt. It's fabulous. We mean, not everybody loves country, but you can't deny this kid's talent. Randy cites his throw-back country voice which -- totally. Hope to see this kid go far,...

Opinions have been largely negative surrounding the ninth season of Fox's hit singing competition show -- but is this really the worst season in "American Idol" history? We don't think so.
We think this is more a case of the collective "Idol" viewing audience having some short-term memory loss. Sure, in comparison to the David vs. David showdown of two years ago and the spectacle that was Adam Lambert coupled with whiskey-voiced Allison Iraheta and cutie-pie Kris Allen, Season 9 seemed a little boring.
But let's not forget the seasons prior to seven and eight. Do you even remember the black hole that was Season 3?
Season 9's Paige Miles is arguably the best 11th-place finisher ever, with the possible exception of Alexis Grace. Unfortunately for Paige, the week she was eliminated she was very obviously sick and had had no exposure prior to the Top 24, thus no fan base to get her through the rough patch.

We look back at the judge's meanest, funniest and most truthful comments.
By Eric Ditzian
Simon Cowell

While the ostensible point of Wednesday night's "American Idol" finale was to decide the fates of Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, the evening's spotlight returned again and again to Simon Cowell. Before the acerbic yet somehow lovable British judge left to jumpstart another Fox show, "Idol" celebrated his nine seasons of work with video segments, comedic bits and an appearance by former judge — and frequent Cowell sparring partner — Paula Abdul.
We're gonna miss the guy, with his ludicrously unbuttoned dress shirts and surly witticisms. It's an open question whether the show can survive without him, especially coming off a season that almost everyone can agree was lackluster at best and soul-crushing at worst. We worry about what "Idol" will be like without Cowell there to speak the truth...

Round two of American Idol's season 9 semifinals was a definite improvement over the deeply troubling Top 24 week, so I'm optimistic that the remaining 16 contestants will perform well enough this week to inspire Ellen DeGeneres to dig up some synonyms for her favorite adjective "great." Wednesday night's (February 24) "American Idol" was bad. Really bad. Like, makes-you-question-the-meaning-of-life-bad. The debut of season nine's Top 12 boys (no men here) did the impossible: It out-sucked the girls' tepid outing from Tuesday. By a lot. Let's just get to the carnage.
Todrick Hall
Song: "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson
Verdict: The Wizard of Odd
Todrick opened the show on an offbeat note by putting Kelly Clarkson's signature anthem in a blender with fuzzed out synths, jangly African guitars, Morris Day R&B, atonal background singers, gospel vocal inflections and a dollop of a spoken word. It was as close to a Dirty Projectors song as we'll ever get on "American Idol." It may have left the judges scratching their heads (Randy used the word "obliterated"), but Pitchfork would give it an 9.2. Personally, I dug it. He may have been trying too hard, but I thought his vocals...

American Idol 6's 10th place finalist has advice for season eight's finalists, telling them they are "not going to be successful," and then offers advice for them to be successful--like him. In a blog post, Chris Sligh asks, "how is it that the fat, not-so-great-looking guy who came in 10th place is the 2nd or 3rd most successful from his season and top 5 most successful over Season 6 & 7? The difference is pure... keep reading » » read the full story and comment, or find the latest news about American Idol 6

Oh, Chris Sligh. I remember when you first graced my TV screen way back in 2007, a breath of fresh air amongst a crop of season six Idol lookers like Haley Scarnato. Oh, how silly you were, bouncing into that Idol audition room in Birmingham like an ever-huggable Teletubby, spouting off funny-isms like, " to make David Hasselhoff cry." But now, Chris Sligh, you're making me cry. And not in a good way. This past Saturday, you took to your blog to give season 8's top ten Idols some advice following their final tour date. And though you make some valid points throughout your rant (and yes, I will qualify it as a rant), most of your blog post just reeks of arrogance and negativity. So let's take a look, and refute -- and support when necessary -- some of your points, shall we? Note: This blog post was written prior to...

Former American Idol finalist Chris Sligh has warned this year's hopefuls that appearing on the show does not guarantee a glittering career. The singer, who finished tenth in the sixth season, took to his official blog to caution contestants of season eight that their "days of being a star" are probably over once the Idol tour ends. "You're not going to be successful. You're not going to be millionaires (with the exception of maybe Kris [Allen] and Adam [Lambert]). You are going to struggle. No one will care about you," he wrote. "Those fans who've been asking for your autograph all tour long - 98% of them don't give a flying poo about you once next season of Idol starts. They're not going to buy your album when you put it out two years late. "Chances are you'll never feel the rush of playing (more)...

Chris Sligh may not have won American Idol, but he certainly feels he's won some hard-fought wisdom. Being the total sweetheart that he clearly is, he's imparting it on the masses, taking to his blog to offer advice to the season eight kiddos who recently wrapped their big tour. "You're not going to be successful," the season six 10th-place finisher writes. "You're not going to be millionaires (with the exception of Maybe Kris [Allen] and Adam [Lambert]). You are going to struggle. No one will care about you." Feeling the warm fuzzies? He goes on… "You are just a game show contestant who still needs to prove why you should be here," he writes to the...

Simon Cowell may have dismissed American Idol season six finalist Chris Sligh with a terse, "bye-bye curly," when the mop-top crooner was voted off the show, but Sligh has managed to get the last word on farewells. The singer, who moved to Nashville after Idol in 2007, just scored his first songwriting No. 1 with Rascal Flatts's "Here Comes Goodbye." The tune, which Sligh wrote last year with friend Clint Lagerberg, is the first single from the group's new album and just topped the country charts last week. "I don't think I realize yet how big this is," Sligh says of...

A music video aimed to support a song called "Here Comes Goodbye" from Rascal Flatts has been available to watch. It captures a girl mourning over her father's death. When she cries miserably near his grave, flashback scenes showing the time she spent her days through the winter with him are shared.
"Here Comes Goodbye" is a ballad song written by Clint Lagerberg along with Chris Sligh, the finalist of 2007 "American Idol". The track appears as the first single from Rascal Flatts' upcoming sixth major studio album "Unstoppable", due for U.S. release on April 7.
As a promotional effort for the new record, Rascal Flatts have been hitting the road for a series of live concerts across America. They will next be performing in Louisiana, Arizona, California, Texas and many other big cities. Details on their forthcoming shows can be checked on their MySpace.
