For all of nine seasons, we kept up with the Hecks on The Middle. As the Heck parents struggled to find work-life balance, we watched them put their best foot forward, and sometimes give up on having a legacy altogether. Parenting wasn’t the easiest, especially when it came to their youngest, Brick (Atticus Shaffer). A self-proclaimed nerd, Brick only worried about books. His head was full of information. He took it all in, one page after another, marveling at the feeling of paper between his fingers. When he was done, he took in more knowledge, so much that sometimes he

The Middle, upon its 2009 debut, was as relatable as any television show can be, due to its representation of a regular middle-class family. Whether Frankie Heck ( Patricia Heaton) was going to Brick’s ( Atticus Shaffer) school when she was mid-work, Sue Heck ( Eden Sher) was trying to be more visible at school, or Brick was living in his tiny little world, the struggling family from Jasper, Indiana, made good television, enough to secure a solid nine-season run. Upon its farewell leg, Heaton said of their time at the show: “ We are together all the time. We

Fans of The Middle are probably wondering what’s happened to the actors that they enjoyed watching, and while they’re easy enough to find online most times, it’s still fun to check in on them and see what they’ve been doing. Atticus Shaffer for instance, the guy who played the slightly off-kilter Brick Heck, is someone that people wonder about now and then since the guy has a very distinctive act and look that kind of puts him in his own class. Standing at 4’8″, Atticus was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, which tends to make a person’s bones very brittle and

ABC has decided not to pick up the Sue Heck-led “The Middle” spinoff starring Eden Sher, an individual with knowledge of the decision tells TheWrap.
The comedy, titled “Sue Sue in the City,” was set to follow the twentysomething adventures of eternal optimist Sue Heck (Sher), as she leaves the small town of Orson to navigate the ups and downs of a career and young adulthood in the big city of Chicago.
As TheWrap reported in May, ABC was in development on a Sher-led spinoff shortly after the single-camera comedy wrapped its nine-season run, though at the time no deals were in place. ABC ordered a pilot of the spinoff in August.

Although ABC's The Middle recently ended after an admirable nine-season run - the now-canceled Roseanne reboot took away its Tuesday night time slot - it seems Sue Heck is finally getting her due. Similarly to how Black-ish spawned a spinoff about eldest daughter Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) in Grown-ish, The Middle has given way to a spinoff that will follow Sue, played by Eden Sher.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will focus on "the 20-something adventures of eternal optimist Sue Heck as she leaves the small town of Orson to navigate the ups and downs of a career and young adulthood in Chicago." The last season of The Middle, which ended on May 22, was the perfect showcase for the character, who we got to see deal with romantic relationships while finishing her final year of college.

“It’s the end of an era,” declares a teary-eyed Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton) near the end of the series finale of ABC sitcom “The Middle.” Indeed, the last episode of the long-running show, which aired on May 22, marks the departure of one of the network’s most consistently-excellent, flagship family comedies from the airwaves. Debuting in the same season as the network’s breakout, critical-darling “Modern Family,” “The Middle” always seemed overshadowed by its sitcom sibling in the clamor for awards recognition. With its pitch-perfect and satisfying final episode, though, “The Middle” should finally receive its due as a bona fide Emmy contender.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the series finale of The Middle.
The time has come for another beloved TV family to depart the airwaves and become a benchmark in pop culture history. Tonight, we said goodbye to the quirky and heartwarming antics of the Hecks from The Middle. Created by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, the nine seasons of the popular ABC family sitcom came to an end with a two-part finale appropriately titled “A Heck of a Ride.”
The big finale starts in the dark — yes the dark. Axl (Charlie McDermott) enters Frankie (Patricia Heaton) and Mike’s (Neil Flynn) room as they are asleep and makes the announcement that he has decided to take the job in Denver. After his announcement, there is a silence between the parents until Frankie starts to comedically sob and finds comfort in the cookies she keeps bedside — cookies that Mike also partakes in.

The last nine years have been one heck of a ride for “The Middle” cast and executive producers.
Series creators DeAnn Heline and Eileen Heisler don’t even want audiences to pardon the pun when they turn on ABC to watch the middle-America family comedy one last time on May 22 and see that the series finale title is simply that — “A Heck of a Ride.”
“One thing that’s very important to us is to think about our fans and to think about us and think about an ending that’s appropriate to the show we’ve always been,” Heisler tells Variety. “Personally, I don’t think the point of a finale is to shock [the audience]. I think that you really want to honor the show and give people an [episode] that is closer to a typical one, while being exciting, than something that veers off in another direction.”

The Lion Guard is a somewhat surprisingly good show airing on Disney Junior, and the story of Kion and his friends continues with a new DVD release The Lion Guard: Unleash the Power.
The release is the first collection of episodes available on DVD, and it’s not only a good selection because these are episodes that focus on the individual members of the Guard, but because these are some of the series’ most rewatchable efforts.
The show is not just a fun adventure for kids, but the series takes on a broad range within its episodic content, tackling some tricky issues, without actually decoding its own efforts and bogging down in overt explanation.
For example, the episode Fuli’s New Family spans a variety of issues, but chief among them is an examination of the idea that just because doing something seems objectively “right,” or, “how friends act,...

"It is time!" Disney makes the announcement in its new teaser for "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar," the "Lion King" sequel coming to the Disney Channel on Sunday, November 22. The movie event will lead into "The Lion Guard" TV series, which will premiere in early 2016.
"The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar" introduces Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, who is destined to become leader of the Lion Guard. The Lion Guard is like the African savanna's version of The Avengers, a team of animals made up of the Pride Lands' fiercest, bravest, fastest, strongest and keenest of sight. As Kion looks to assemble new members, he doesn't call upon a group of lions to serve with him as tradition dictates, but instead chooses some of his friends whom he believes best exemplify these heroic qualities -- Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte,...

The sequel to The Lion King will kick off with The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, a movie on the Disney Channel, followed by a series (simply The Lion Guard) on Disney Junior, with Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union voicing the roles of Simba and Nala, respectively. But since this is about bringing kids into the brand, the plot is going to focus on their cub Kion (voiced by The Strain's Max Charles), who puts together a band of friends, consisting of Bunga, a honey badger (Joshua Rash), Ono, a smart egret (Atticus Shaffer), Fuli, a cheetah (Diamond White), and Beshte, a jolly hippo (Dusan Brown), to patrol the Pride Lands with him.
