All along, showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle have been telling us Arrow was seen as a five-year odyssey, intended to be the same amount of time post-Lian Yu, to show how he has grown since being stranded there. Other than that noble notion, the execution has been incredibly uneven season to season.
As the series entered its fifth year, they began the season uncertain if this was going to be its final one so they made certain things got tidied up. The tedious flashbacks had to wrap up the five years before the series’ start and move Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and his friends towards a point where, should it be canceled, viewers were left satisfied.
Somewhere during the production of the final nine episodes, they got a sixth season renewal so shifted the planning to bring things to a climax and a cliffhanger. The messy 23 episodes are...

...Artemis! Her long-awaited return is here, but how long will it last? The episode opens with Adrian Chase torturing Oliver. He speaks about his father's death and tells Oliver he wants him to confess, but Oliver doesn't know what he is talking about. I have to admit, I did not like the beginning of the episode and thought it was going to be boring with the focus on the Russian flashbacks. As the episode progressed, the ending was one of the better endings of the season. Check out the main takeaways below:

1. Prometheus' Plan - Chase takes Oliver through pictures of all the people the Arrow had killed. He begins to give Oliver the same punishment he gave his victims in Season 1. For instance, The Hood shot Count Vertigo with three arrows, so Chase puts three arrows in Oliver. Chase continues to probe Oliver in order...

Arrow is back after its break last week. Coming off the revelation that Prometheus is Adrian Chase, what will be in store for viewers this week?
1. Talia al Ghul trained Prometheus: The episode begins with Oliver easily walking into Talia's hidden residence, which seems odd that she trains people to be assassins, yet he can easily walk through the front door...Anyways, it was interesting to find out that Talia not only trained Chase two years earlier because he wanted to be trained due to Oliver killing his father years prior. She also reveals that she agreed to train him as an act of revenge for Oliver killing her father, Ra's al Ghul. This was interesting to me because even though we all knew she was Talia al Ghul, I didn't think of Oliver lacking the connection between she and her father. Yes, the two working together is interesting,...

At long last, Arrow season five has cut all the foreplay, faffing about, and stalling to deliver an incredibly satisfying one-on-one bout. As if that wasn’t enough, Checkmate rewarded viewers for investing in the mayoral aspect of the show with an impressive and intense political drama.
No time was wasted catching the characters up to speed following last week’s surprising reveal that Adrian Chase (newcomer to the cast Josh Segarra) wasn’t the surprising new anti-hero to arrive in Star City, Vigilante, as his comic book namesake implied. 1. Prometheus' Identity Revealed--At the beginning of the episode I thought," We need to see more of Vigilante." Not necessarily every episode, but the character has been one of the more interesting individuals this season. Why is he so appealing? Vigilante wants to clean up city by killing the corrupt. Sound familiar? He's the equivalent of The Hood from Season 1. Adrian Chase was my number one suspect as he is the supportive Da by day, but he has his own, darker agenda at night. Also, Chase is one of the alter ego's for the character in the comics. Next, he and Prometheus came face-to-face, battled, then Prometheus revealed that he is...Adrian Chase? Well that was...interesting?...I'm hoping he isn't the actual Prometheus. When he first encountered Vigilante and stated, "Oliver is mine," it didn't sound like the same voice used by Prometheus in previous episodes.

Arrow’s season five big bad was finally unmasked on Wednesday’s episode, revealing the villainous Prometheus to be none other than Star City District Attorney Adrian Chase!

Did Thea do what needed to be done?
That was a key question after Arrow Season 5 Episode 14 in which she went all-out in her mission to take down Susan.
TV Fanatics, Jim Garner, Kathleen Wiedel, Steve Ford and Robin Harry discuss the many returns, Thea's decision, and Oliver revealing the truth.
What did you think of the ladies returning to wreak havoc?
Jim: Kelly Hu's wig was horrible. Other than that best I can say is "meh." Seemed like a convenient "bad guy of the week" didn't really add anything to the overall story.
Kathleen: It came across as a "designated girls team-up" story. Cupid always struck me as a rather silly character; then there were over-wrought rogue cop Liza Warner and stone-hearted Triad hit-woman China White. The idea that these three would stick together longer than it took to effect a jailbreak was... unlikely.

After last week's gun control episode, and secondary focus on Wild Dog, will fans finally get to see Prometheus again, or will Arrow focus on another member of the team instead?
Oliver and Diggle begin the episode by going to visit Justin Claybourne's former wife in order to gain information on her son who they presume is Prometheus. Claybourne's former partner alludes to the fact that their son may actually be Prometheus. I still think this is a smoke screen. The mother hadn't seen her son in 4 years, so I think this is the writers' way of distracting the true identity of Prometheus. I'm glad they began the episode with the focus back on the main villain. This is an area that needs to pick up in order for the ratings to increase.

Oliver Queen ran for mayor all the way back at the start of season 4. In season 5, Oliver has been mayor since the premiere. Yet, when it comes to doing anything remotely political, Arrow has had Oliver do nothing. There has been the Susan Williams media stuff but because that a) involves Susan and b) has been really simplistic, it's been a huge downer. Politics have not been Arrow's strong suit. In "Spectre of the Gun" Arrow takes a huge departure from the norm and goes deep with its political storytelling as Oliver deals with one of the hottest of hot button issues, gun control.

Arrow returns with episode 12 of Season 5. The episode begins with a flashback of Talia training Oliver by telling him to embrace the darkness. Arrow season 5 hasn't just made several references to the early "glory days" seasons of the show. The show has actually managed to maintain the quality of seasons 1 and 2. There has been no dip in episodes after the post-winter break as has become typical in the last two seasons. Arrow season 5 is well on its way to breaking into the three best seasons of the show. There is unfortunately a continuous and insidious issue in Arrow season 5, though, and her name is Susan Williams.

The midseason finale of Arrow seemingly provided some pretty underwhelming answers about the identity of Prometheus, but we’ve yet to find out who’s truly beneath the villain’s mask. Intent on destroying the life of Oliver Queen, he’s already tricked the Green Arrow into murdering Felicity’s boyfriend, hence why she can be seen here with the vigilante trying to track him down.
Interestingly, the gallery above from “Who Are You?” (which may be an appropriate title given the intrigue surrounding Prometheus’ identity) focuses almost solely on Oliver’s clash with Prometheus rather than the shocking return of Laurel Lance. However, a recently released promo already shed some light on how exactly the Black Canary has seemingly been resurrected.
Despite not hailing from the comic books, Prometheus has arguably been one of Arrow‘s best villains yet, and theories about his identity continue to do the rounds.

This week on The CW’s Arrow, a new Vigilante (with a capital V) got Oliver to questioning his efficacy, but he found reassurance in a new (ahem) “friend.”
As if being vexed by Prometheus isn’t enough, this week the team got wind of a new costumed crimefighter, dubbed Vigilante. (Zero points for creativity; where’s Cisco when you need him?) Of course and understandably, the mystery man’s M.O. stirred some debate among Team Arrow, seeing as he’s removing “scumbags” from existence. But Oliver argues that his colleagues can’t have it both ways, having recently...

Green Arrow and Team Arrow – The episode begins with the typical mission at an abandoned warehouse. Green Arrow and Diggle go without the rest of the team knowing that Prometheus is trying to trap them. This is the point where the “So It Begins” message is left for them. Diggle and Oliver agree that they should not tell the rest of the team as they do not feel they are ready, especially after Wild Dog’s torture at the hands of Tobias Church.
Green Arrow comes to the scene of a Prometheus murder and speaks with Adrian Chase (the eventual Vigilante) who is the new Da. Not only does he reveal that the mother didn’t seem to have any individual who would have been after her, but that another body was found in different area of town also having been killed by Prometheus’ trademark throwing star.

As Arrow‘s Oliver Queen said this week, just as ex-fiancee Felicity owes it to herself to find out if what she has with Detective Malone is “real,” he owes it to himself to “embrace whatever is next” for him when not wearing a vigilante’s hood.

The DC Comics television universe has cast plenty of actors from other genre projects in the past (Doctor Who seemingly one of their favorites to pull from) but this time a student from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is headed to Central City to join The Flash for Season 3. None other than Draco Malfoy himself, Tom Felton, will be joining the cast as a regular, according to TV Line. Felton will play Julian Dorn, a fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation. Felton has been busy since his Harry Potter days with both film and television roles including Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Belle, and Murder in the First. Julian Dorn is not an established DC Comics character, but I'm excited to see how Felton fits in with The Flash gang. I...

TV Insider reveals that Carly Pope has joined the cast of Arrow season five as Susan Williams, a journalist who hails from Coast City. Sounds pretty unexciting, right? Well, in the comics, she's maried to Jim Jordan, the younger brother of Hal Jordan! Now, this doesn't necessarily mean we're going to see Green Lantern, but the hero has been teased so many times that it's hard not to wonder if it will finally happen. Either way, this is undeniably another very interesting nod to the character's existence. Regardless, this version of Susan apparently comes to Star City in the hope of landing a big story on Mayor Oliver Queen. She'll first appear in the third episode of Arrow's fifth season and joins an ever growing list of new additions which also includes Josh Segarra, Rick Gonzalez, Chad L. Coleman, and Tyler Ritter. The show is getting pretty packed, but...

Will the big story be on Oliver Queen?
It will be if Wendy Williams has anything to say about it.
Carly Pope has been tapped to play Susan Williams, a Coast City journalist who set her sites on Queen as a way to break into the big time. Goodness knows Oliver Queen should be in the news a lot more than he probably is.
If the name sounds familiar to comics fans, it probably would, as Williams is married to Jim Jordan, the little brother of Hal Jordan, none other than the Green Lantern.
Yes, we will come thisclose to the Green Lantern once again without going near the character.
With Superman making an appearance on Supergirl, it sure seems silly to keep Green Lantern away from The CW's DC family, doesn't it?
Anyway. Susan will make her first appearance on Arrow Season 5 Episode 3. Expect something to be going down with the new mayor.
