Exclusive: Swiss distribution and production group Ascot Elite Entertainment has announced the start of shoot for Austrian filmmaker Gerald Salmina’s hi-octane sports doc and four-part mini series Downhill Skiers – Ain’t No Mountain Steep Enough.
The two-part production capturing the world of competitive downhill skiing began shooting on April 8 and will continue filming up until the Alpine World Ski Championships in the Austrian resort town of Saalbach Hinterglemm in February 2025.
Swiss ski champion Marco Odermatt, who has enjoyed a record-breaking run on the ski championship circuit this past season, will be the focus of the doc with appearances by other stars of the ski race scene such as Switzerland’s Jasmine Flury, France’s Cyprien Sarrazin and Austria’s Marco Schwarz.

Exclusive: Netflix has picked up rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Swiss comedy The Neighbours From Upstairs (Die Nachbarn Von Oben) following the film’s theatrical run.
Ascot Elite Entertainment’s charge drew 72,000 admissions in German-speaking Switzerland and was one of the top-performing Swiss comedies in 2023.
The film follows couple Thomas and Anna who after 20 years of marriage are desperate for some romance. When they invite their amorous and passionate neighbours over for dinner, they get a surprisingly spicy offer which takes their night and relationship down a road they hadn’t expected.

German author Neuhaus’ series of six novels are aimed primarily at young girls. The books chart the adventures, travails and coming-of-age of a 13-year-old girl who grows up on an idyllic stud farm.
Writer Neuhaus is best known in Germany for her crime-thriller novels, a number of which have been adapted by Zdf for TV, and the Elena series also weave in elements of detective fiction.

Arno Camenisch’s Swiss novel The Break (Die Kur) is set to be adapted for the screen by Zurich-based production and distribution outfit Ascot Elite (Northmen - A Viking Saga).
Ralph Dietrich, Karin Dietrich, Stephan Giger and Roger Kaufmann will produce the comedy about a man and a woman who win a trip to a five-star Swiss resort.
