The shootings left 18 people dead and 13 injured, according to Maine Governor Janet Mills.
“We are devastated by the events in Lewiston,” wrote Mulaney in a message posted to his Instagram stories, on behalf of himself and Davidson. “Shows scheduled for this weekend in Maine on Saturday, 10/28 and Sunday, 10/29 have been postponed. We are thinking of you all.”
The manhunt continues on Thursday for shooting suspect Robert Card, who should be considered “armed and dangerous,” per Mills. Bloomberg Originals is launching a new series called Breaking Bread, which will feature in-depth conversations with some of America’s political leaders over their favorite meals.
The series will see author, journalist and host Alexander Heffner (PBS’ The Open Mind) break bread, literally and figuratively, with politically and geographically diverse U.S. governors and senators. Together, they’ll discuss everything from the state of American democracy and the economy, to the nation’s security and morale, to artificial intelligence and natural resources.
Breaking Bread features narration and interviews conducted across the country and will use food as a starting point for exploring the biographies, policy concerns and cuisine preferences of the selected leaders and the places they call home.
The show’s creators say the series will focus on the things that unite Americans, instead of the things that divide them, and how to solve problems together and promote a better understanding of democracy,...

Razor-thin margins around the country left control of Congress undetermined Wednesday, but Democrats showed surprising strength in the midterm election, topping Republicans in a series of competitive races and defying expectations that high inflation and President Joe Biden’s low approval ratings would drag his party to key defeats.
In the most heartening news for Democrats, John Fetterman flipped Pennsylvania’s Republican-controlled Senate seat that’s key to the party’s hopes of maintaining control of the chamber. But Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin won reelection, raising the stakes of races in Nevada, Georgia and Arizona that were too early to call but could determine the majority.
In the House, Democrats kept seats in districts from Virginia to Kansas to Rhode Island, while many districts in states like New York and California had not been called.

Max Linn, who ran for one of Maine’s U.S. senate seats in 2020, died on Saturday of an apparent heart attack while in a hot tub, Bangor Daily News reports. He was 62.
Linn was vehemently opposed to public health protocols meant to contain the spread of Covid-19, despite him possibly being among the first in Maine to have had Covid-19, as Sun Journal reports. During his 2020 senate run, he made headlines when he cut up a mask during a televised debate and he refused to answer questions by repeating “request denied.

For an unscripted reality competition that finds celebrities dressing in sparkly outfits and shimmying their way across a Los Angeles ballroom set, the ABC series can cook up some pretty dramatic plot twists.
Take, for example, the surprising elimination that capped this week’s installment. After turning in some of the season’s most emotionally poignant routines, Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin delivered her all-time best performance on Monday night, which earned her a perfect score… but couldn’t stop her from getting the boot, along with professional partner Keo Motsepe,...

Good morning!
Pixar producers Kori Rae and Darla K. Anderson are the married lesbian couple behind Monsters Inc. and its new sequel Monsters University. They talked with The San Francisco Gate about the Doma news, where they found out about it in Japan. Here's a cute story:
We got together (during) the last year of Monsters Inc. in 2001. I figured I’d have to leave the show, and I was willing to leave the company at that point. We had talked about it. But they were completely great. They said “Of course not. You’re such a great team, a producing team. We’d love for you to keep working together.” They were nothing but supportive, and have been the whole time. We’ve chosen since Monsters Inc. to not (work together). … I think it’s...

ABC will work to adapt the BBC series Rev. I've been hearing about the original, so I guess its time I tried harder to check it out.
In unsurprising news, PETA is thrilled that Animal Practice has been cancelled.
TLC aired a special called My Giant Face Tumor. Sounds like they've found a new way to lower the bar. (Hmm, Lowering the Bar might make a better name for the channel than TLC.)

Here we are, "America's Next Top Model" fans! Not only is our favorite ridiculous reality show back, but there are Brits! Cheerio, guvna! Based on the pictures they released pre-show, we think the UK girls have a huge advantage over the Us girls.
During intros, here's what stood out:
We love the androgynous girl, Azmarie. She comes across way better in person than she did in her still photo. Sophie says the dictionary is from Oxford, which is where she's from. We are confident she has a huge vocabulary and mastery of the English language. Annaliese says the Us is "not ready for the British invasion. We did it once, we can do it again." Do you suppose she means the Beatles? Because we whipped your butts in the Revolutionary War, thanks. We meet Laura, the bisexual, who has designs on Azmarie the lesbian.
