Screen Australia has put almost $900,000 towards the story development of seven TV dramas, nine online projects, nine features and in an agency first – a podcast.
Podcast Engineering Consciousness, helmed by Emmy Award winner Lynette Wallworth, explores what happens to someone’s consciousness during a near-death experience. The idea is that the podcast will be used as a proof-of-concept for a television drama on the same topic. It will be produced by Bunya Productions’ Sophia Zachariou and Greer Simpkin.
Also on the slate is a live-action feature film from Ludo Studio (Bluey), written and directed by Daley Pearson, and a 10-part fictional TV series about what went on behind the scenes of the iconic Leyland Brothers’ adventures across Australia, created by Daina Reid and produced by Joanna Werner.

New York -- With little fanfare, several of the Weinstein Co.'s top founding film executives are departing the company with no imminent replacements for their positions.
Executive VPs/co-heads of acquisitions and production Michelle Krumm and Maeva Gatineau quietly left the indie distributor three weeks ago. Production president Michael Cole and senior VP production Carla Gardini will be following suit in the next few weeks. Executive VP marketing Gary Faber is expected to depart by the end of the year.
In short, TWC will momentarily find itself without heads of production and acquisitions. The company said it is planning to replace them.
The moves come as the company gears up for the awards season, with hopefuls that include "Vicki Cristina Barcelona" and "The Reader."
"In all businesses there are always comings and goings," Harvey Weinstein said, adding that the company has been "fortunate to have Lance Still, David Glasser...
