Five weeks on from the release of Blood and Wine, billed as the second and final expansion for the adorned RPG, developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is coming.
News first emerged when German ratings board Usk posted a listing of said GotY edition for release across PS4, Xbox One and PC in August. Bundling together both the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions – not to mention the string of free Dlc released for Wild Hunt – Usk slated the comprehensive package for a late August launch.
Though he didn’t outright confirm that purported release date, Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz told Eurogamer that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is real, and fans should expect more details to arrive soon.

Update: CD Projekt Red has officially slated The Witcher III: Blood and Wine for release on May 31. The expansion’s first teaser confirms the studio’s launch plans, with Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz adding that “Blood and Wine makes The Witcher 3 complete – it’s Geralt’s final mission. Containing more than 90 new quests, and over thirty hours of brand new adventures, it’s something that I think gamers will remember for a long time.”

The notion of studios supporting their games with additional content has become pretty standardised in the industry of late. From paid Dlc to software patches, it seems consumers are inundated with extra digital material. In saying that, not all developers have adopted this method of approach. Speaking with The Examiner, the team behind the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt explained their reasoning behind providing the gamer with new content at no additional cost.
