Hope Hicks is departing from her role as the top communications officer for Fox and returning to the White House.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said on Thursday that she will be working for Jared Kushner’s office as counselor to the president and senior adviser. Kushner is Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.
Hicks has been executive vice president and chief communications officer for Fox Corporation. She joined the company last fall.
She succeeded Julie Henderson (now at Snap Inc.) in the post at Fox, steering the company through the closing of the $71.3 billion acquisition of most of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Co. and the subsequent start of trading by Fox Corporation. The streamlined new entity consists mostly of Fox News, the Fox broadcast network, Fox Sports and a string of local TV stations. It has posted solid financial results but its stock has stayed...

Anyone working at high levels in Hollywood or the media business understands there is always a trapdoor under their feet. In 2018, however, that door swung open with remarkable swiftness and frequency — a byproduct of how high the stakes are in terms of personal conduct and delivering value to shareholders.
Larger industry currents also help explain the level of turnover. The technology sector’s volatility this year was illustrated by departures in the executive suite. Facebook saw the defection of Oculus, WhatsAPP and Instagram founders as it reeled from scandal to scandal over its use of customer data and its role as a platform for trolls and election meddlers. Snap Inc., with its Snapchat app treading water, also saw several top executives depart. Netflix, during a summer when it reported lackluster quarterly numbers and saw its stock take a huge hit, also said farewell to two longtime C-level members of the team.

Snap Inc., which has seen its stock crater amid the departure of several key executives and questions about its strategic direction, has brought in media and digital veteran Julie Henderson to steer communications.
Henderson joins Snap as Chief Communications Officer from her longtime post running communications for 21st Century Fox, which is on the verge of selling most of itself to Disney. Hope Hicks, who worked for Donald Trump before and after he became president, joined Fox last summer in a senior communications role as it prepares to narrow its focus to Fox News and broadcast assets.
Reporting to CEO Evan Spiegel, Henderson will officially assume her role at Snap after the formal close of the $71.3 billion Fox-Disney deal, which is expected in the coming weeks.
“Julie will be an outstanding addition to our team,” Spiegel said. “She brings incredible experience, talent, and integrity, as well as the respect of the tech,...

New Fox is beginning to take shape. On Tuesday, Fox announced the appointment of three veteran execs to leadership roles in the company that will be left standing after the Walt Disney Co.’s acquisition of its film and television-studio operations closes. Rita Tuzon was named exec VP and corporate general counsel; Jill Ratner was named exec VP and chief litigation counsel; and Kevin Lord, exec VP of human resources for Fox News, will take over Hr for the entire company.
But the biggest Fox remodeling move yet remains Monday’s appointment of former Trump White House aide Hope Hicks as exec VP and chief communications officer. The Hicks hire sent shockwaves through the Fox offices, surprising many. Company insiders who spoke with Variety expressed concern that Hicks — who once, according to the New York Times, admitted to House of Representatives investigators that she sometimes told so-called white lies on...

Fox has named former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks as its chief communications officer, in a move that underscores its closeness with the Trump Administration. Hicks will lead communications for “New” Fox, a media company whose assets include Fox broadcasting and Fox News, following the pending sale of 21st Century Fox to the Walt Disney Co.
The former model joined Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and was considered one of his most trusted advisors, with broad access to the Oval Office. She resigned from the administration in February, after she admitted to telling white lies in her testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
As Hicks resigned, expressing gratitude to Trump, he heaped praise on her, saying she was “as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side.”
