It has been an incredibly tough time for the gaming industry, as there have been thousands of layoffs and several studio closures in 2023 and 2024. The latest studio to fall victim to this sad trend is the Los Angeles-based and PlayStation-backed development studio Deviation Games, which is shutting down.
The reports of the studio’s closure first emerged when employees shared on LinkedIn that the studio had been closed, and the officials at Deviation Games later confirmed this.
PlayStation’s Deviation Games Has Been Shut Down
Deviation Games has been shut down even before releasing its first title.
Shortly after the news of the studio’s closure surfaced on the internet, Deviation’s Chief Human Resources and Operations Officer, Kriste Stull, took to LinkedIn and said that the studio has shut down and that it will soon be hosting a networking event to help its employees that are impacted by the closure.

2024 hasn’t been kind to the gaming industry. An unprecedented amount of layoffs and outright closures have impacted several game development studios around the world, that too from huge publishers like Xbox, EA, PlayStation, Embracer Group, and more.
PlayStation was recently in the news for laying off 900 employees globally, as well as shutting down their veteran London Studio, which had been developing games for the publisher all the way back from the PS2 days. And now, another Sony-affiliated studio has been shuttered, with fans bewildered at the conditions leading up to it.

No one could have imagined that you’d be able to throw an explosive cymbal-banging monkey toy at a horde of voracious zombies in a franchise popular for it’s brutal, semi-accurate depictions of World War II and other major conflicts. It’s something so wild that it could only be part of Treyarch’s next edition of their zombie mode in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.”
The Treyarch led zombie mode has come a long way in the last 10 years, many fans pick up each entry in the series for nothing but the newest undead horde mode. The upcoming game, which is hitting most platforms on October 12th, is taking note from everything that has happened since they mixed zombies and war in “Call of Duty: World at War” for the first time.

Sdcc 2018 is right around the corner and so is a horde of Call of Duty Zombies!
Over the years we have seen a lot of changes to the Call of Duty franchise. For the most part it has always been for the best of the series, but this year, fans weren'tto happy with the news. This October, Call of Duty Black Ops 4 be like none other and will not feature and single player campaign. Although this news was met with a lot of negative feedback from the community, I still think this will be a great entry in the Call of Duty saga. That being said, in celebration of Sdcc this week, Activision and Treyarch have release a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombie trailer!

Activision and Treyarch aren’t done with Call of Duty: Black Ops III just yet, it seems. Several rumors have been flying around the web over the last several days seemingly confirming that the shooter, released in 2015, is to receive additional Dlc this year despite its position as being the latest in the series having long-since passed. A majority of those leaks come by way of Reddit, although an Esrb rating (via VG247) of the so-called Zombies Chronicles had also been spotted previously.
As is the case with all rumors, of course, they can’t be labeled as official until the appropriate parties come forth with an announcement. It’s a good job, then, that Treyarch has today done just that. Co-studio head Jason Blundell made an appearance in a recent video released today by YouTuber JCbackfire, confirming the good news by way of a shirt adorned with the words...

By now, you have to believe that any individual that considers gaming to be a serious hobby rather than a casual means of entertainment has upgraded from the last-gen Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 to their shinier, more powerful successors, but if you haven’t, don’t worry, developers haven’t abandoned you. Not entirely, anyway.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops III publisher Activision has announced that the game’s first Dlc map pack – Awakening – will be coming to last-gen after all, kind of. If you’re on PlayStation 3, the Dlc will be available on April 5 for $14.99, but unfortunately, there’s not even a whisper of the Xbox 360 getting the same thing anywhere in the announcement.
Of course, Activision could just be giving the Xbox 360 announcement more time as, if it were to release, it would be under the same timed-exclusive deal that the PlayStation 4 has over the Xbox One and PC, but...

For all of the technical leaps and bounds that Treyarch is making with Call of Duty: Black Ops III – the co-op campaign, the Specialist multiplayer component – one consequence of this forward thinking has resulted in the studio cutting the single-player campaign from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming shooter, a decision that can be attributed to the memory limitations on both last-gen consoles.
Speaking to Official Xbox Magazine (via GamesRadar), the game’s Campaign Director Jason Blundell levelled on why the story mode was ultimately cut from the experience, which was born out of the ageing architecture of both systems. As an example, Blundell began by citing the ways in which the limited memory has an adverse effect on Black Ops III‘s customization options.
“Let’s just take a simple system, a really simple one–the weapon that you have,” Blundell said in the latest issue of...

Ever since it was unlocked as an endgame bonus after completing Treyarch’s own Call of Duty: World at War, the popularity and demand for the series’ Zombies Mode has grown exponentially, to the point where fans have wondered why it hasn’t broken off into its own franchise. Now, on the eve of Call of Duty: Black Ops III‘s launch, the studio has touched base with that exact proposition.
In an interview with Eurogamer, the franchise’s campaign and Zombies mode director Jason Blundell levelled on the reason why Zombies Mode remains embedded in the Call of Duty experience. With such a huge instal base – one of the biggest of any video game series – each iteration has to appeal to as broad an audience has possible, and this catering to all needs approach has effectively put paid to any idea of the popular survival mode breaking off and forming its own sub-franchise.

When Modern Warfare introduced experience-based progression and the prestige system all those years ago, Call of Duty‘s RPG credentials were all but set in stone, as Activision’s blockbuster franchise incorporated a lot of the genre’s tropes to ensure its shooter was chock full of replayability. Now, almost a decade later, Treyarch is setting out to bolster the customization options by allowing players to chose which gender the play as in Call of Duty: Black Ops III‘s main campaign.
This new addition is much more than just a palette swap, too, with the studio revealing that animations and Npc interactions have been retooled to suit both male and female players.
