There are a couple of moments — instances, really, lasting just a second or two — when Scott Eastwood briefly becomes a dead ringer for his father Clint in the new Western Diablo. The angle has to be right, the lighting has to be right, and the glower has to be right. It doesn’t happen often. The son has a much softer, less distinct face than the father; he’s very good looking, but blandly so. And yet, every once in a while, something goes wrong, and there’s Clint.I mention this because Diablo, an interesting but uneven Western directed by Lawrence Roeck, tries to get at a kind of inner lunacy in Scott Eastwood — an inner Clint, let’s say. And for the most part, I’m not sure it’s there. Or at the very least it’s buried very, very deep — too deep for this film to access when it needs to.

Shock reviews horror/western hybrid Diablo. From the moment we first see him on-screen, it’s clear that Scott Eastwood is his father’s son; they look identical, especially here, in the confines of Lawrence Roeck’s horror/western hybrid Diablo, where Eastwood younger has been blow-dried and stubble-coifed to look exactly like his famous father Clint in one of…

The Western film genre, a main staple of American movies decades ago, but nowadays much scarcer, is currently enjoying a mini-revival, spearheaded by the current 70mm roadshow release of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, in which Tarantino continues to marry his loquaciously violent style with a classic American genre, just as he did with his last film, Django Unchained. So inevitably, there will be copycats ready to jump on the bandwagon and strive for a piece of reflected glory.Right on schedule, in rides Diablo, the second feature by producer-director Lawrence Roeck. This particular Western is set several years post-Civil War, around the same time The Hateful Eight is set. Its main star is one Scott Eastwood, the son of some guy you may have heard...

Director Lawrence Roeck talks to Shock about his bloody western Diablo. With S. Craig Zahler’s brutal horror/western hybrid Bone Tomahawk making many critics’ “Best of 2015” lists on its fast-track to cult status and Quentin Tarantino’s barbaric and ingenious The Hateful Eight currently drawing in the masses and dividing the critics, it seems that the…

People often have the best of intentions when they set out to protect their loved ones. But they can at times inadvertently commit malicious actions, in order to defeat their enemies who pose a threat to those people they want to protect. The protagonist’s reluctant decision to go against his high-standing morals, in a determined effort to save his wife, is the gripping motivating factor in the upcoming Western action film, ‘Diablo.’ The thriller’s director, Lawrence Roeck, and one of the film’s supporting actors, Adam Beach, both generously took the time recently to participate in separate exclusive phone interviews to discuss making the drama. The movie’s worldwide rights were picked [ Read More ]

Scott Eastwood channels that other guy with the same last name (his father, Clint) in this exclusive clip from Lawrence Roeck's upcoming western, Diablo. The film will be directed by John Luessenhop (Takers) and is set to take place after Tobe Hooper's original 1974 horror classic. The script was penned by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan, and polished by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop.
Massacre 3D is being produced by Carl Mazzocone and exec produced by Avi Lerner and Mark Burg. The goal is for the film to help launch a new fright franchise featuring the iconic, chainsaw-loving villain Leatherface and his oddball family. Eastwood recently completed the Charles Burmeister-directed Epic, the Jack Heller-directed Enter Nowhere and the Lawrence Roeck-directed Carmel. He has also starring roles in films directed by his father, including Invictus, Gran Torino and Flags of Our Fathers.

Once again I bring you the best round-up of all the movie updates announced in this past week's trade reports. Why read a Ton of articles when you can read just one? This week we get new cast members added to films such as Law Abiding Citizen and Carmel. An unlikely trio may team up for a DreamWorks Animated feature. John Carpenter returns to the director's chair with Amber Heard who will also join Johnny Depp in Rum Diary. Jennifer Lopez may be in another movie and that Judy Garland biopic may be quite good. Oh, and Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman are teaming for a new film and check out the casting on Mary, Mother of Christ, that could potentially be a decent little flick. Check out the full list and links are available if the film is in the database already. Enjoy! Title: Law Abiding Citizen
