Culinary super tastemaker Padma Lakshmi is once again in the running for Emmys, both for Bravo’s Top Chef and her Hulu series Taste the Nation. Over her years of hosting and executive producing Top Chef, she has earned 14 Emmy nominations herself, but victory has remained, tantalizingly, just beyond her reach.
“We’re in the golden age of television, and it’s really competitive. I’m sort of the Susan Lucci of reality television,” she tells Deadline. “It would be lovely to win, especially because this is our 20th season of Top Chef.”
Lakshmi made her debut as host in season 2 of the two-time Emmy-winning reality competition show, and has been a main ingredient in Top Chef’s success for 17 years now.

“Top Chef” Season 18 premieres Thursday, introducing fans to the 15 chefs who will be competing for the title in Portland during this installment. The supersized kickoff to the season will also give viewers an understanding of what changes had to be made in order to film this pandemic-produced “Top Chef.”
And one of the first things “Top Chef” obsessives will probably be wondering about — once they see the accommodations in the first episode — is how fan-favorite challenge Restaurant Wars is going to look when it comes around later this season. After all, Covid-19 has made running established restaurants almost impossible, so how would “Top Chef” contestants manage to safely throw together and run the pop-ups that are a staple of that particular competition?
Luckily, TheWrap has the answer.

Dale Talde Long before he came into national consciousness on Top Chef, Dale Talde got his big break in Chicago. The then-culinary upstart, who’d honed his chops at Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Vong, made a game-changing move in 2002 to the Michelin-starred restaurant Naha to work under the James Beard Award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian. In this video inspired by Hsbc’s “Thank You” films and Hollywood’s awards season, the gregarious Talde grows sweetly humbled while reflecting on how Nahabedian’s simple acts of patience transformed his career.Nahabedian’s generosity set off a ripple effect of good graces for Talde, who’s grown from burgeoning talent into budding icon. He’d go on to work under Masaharu Morimoto and restaurateur Stephen Starr at NYC’s Morimoto and be recruited for season 4 of Top Chef. Today, Talde co-owns four restaurants in the New York City area (Thistle Hill, Pork Slope, and...

Forget the well-stocked Top Chef pantry, this week the contestants had to forage for their own food - at sea. With 12 chefs still standing, it was off to Montauk, the most eastern point of New York's Long Island, and all aboard two fishing vessels for an adventure. With no Quickfire challenge to warm them up, the chefs were split into four teams of three and told to catch their own fish, then cook and serve them on the beach to 200 people. As the chefs struggled to find their sea legs, the pressure ratcheted up - and that's before any fishing lines were even cast.

What in the world is one of the Jonas Brothers doing on "Top Chef: All-Stars"?
For the most part, the chefs know who Joe Jonas is. Well, not Dale Talde, who thinks he might be a pastry chef. That's none too flattering considering the weird condescension between pastry and savory chefs.
On Wednesday's (Dec. 8) episode, the middle Jonas (we're conveniently forgetting Bonus Jonas) will be judging the Quickfire Challenge, which as a "Night at the Museum" sort of theme.
We gotta say, Jonas' joke at the end is a pretty good one.

The returning chef'testants joining "Top Chef: All Stars," which premieres Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 10 p.m. Et, will see another familiar face joining the Judges Table: Anthony Bourdain.
The "No Reservations" host's regular presence is just one of the many bonuses "Top Chef" fans can expect for this eighth season, in addition to the return of favorite culinary competitors: Season 1 - Stephen Asprinio, Tiffani Faison; Season 2 - Elia Aboumrad, Marcel Vigneron; Season 3 - Dale Levitski, Casey Thompson, Tre Wilcox; Season 4 - Richard Blais, Antonia Lofaso, Spike Mendelsohn, Dale Talde; Season 5 - Carla Hall, Jamie Lauren, Fabio Viviani; Season 6 - Jennifer Carroll, Mike Isabella; and Season 7 - Tiffany Derry and Angelo Sosa.
Will Fabio feel bereft without his European union buddy Stefan Richter? Will Marcel stay out of fights this time around? Has Carla learned her costly sous vide lesson? We've seen the premiere, and after talking to Bourdain and Tom Colicchio,...

Looking for a way to spice up your holiday feast? Who better to offer cooking advice than the contestants of Top Chef All-Stars. Add an Asian twist to your Turkey Day with Angelo Sosa's Peking Turkey recipe. Or maybe Mike Isabella's 40-minute, deep-fried turkey is more your style. Then there's Carla Hall's sriracha sweet potatoes, which as she says, really pump up the heat and make the dish more savory than sweet. But Dale Talde's is probably the easiest of them all: White Castle Stuffing. "Just chop up the burgers and put them into the bird," he says. "'Cuz that's how I roll."

Last night, during Bravo's Top Chef reunion special, the cabler finally took the wraps off of one of television's worst-kept secrets: that next season of Top Chef would be an all-stars edition that would bring back 18 former contestants to battle it out for another chance at the title. Top Chef All-Stars will launch December 1st at 10 pm Et/Pt and will feature the return of Anthony Bourdain as well, as he segues from guest judge to full-on regular judge. (He'll rotate with Food & Wine's Gail Simmons.) As for the contestants, they are some of the ones you would most expect would be in the running: Elia Aboumrad; Stephen Asprinio; Richard Blais; Jennifer Carroll; Tiffany Derry; Tiffani Faison; Carla Hall; Mike Isabella; Jamie Lauren; Dale Levitski; Antonia Lofaso; Spike Mendelsohn; Angelo Sosa; Dale Talde; Casey Thompson; Marcel Vigneron; Fabio Viviani; and Tre Wilcox. Personally, I'm thrilled to see Jennifer Carroll and...

Call it sweet justice for us fans, but after a snooze-worthy seventh season of Top Chef, the cooking competition is returning Dec. 1 (10 p.m.) for an All-Stars edition in New York City with some of our favorite past contestants, including Richard Blais (season 4), Fabio Viviani (season 5), Jennifer Carroll (season 6) and — the one I’m most excited about — Carla Hall (season 5). Judging by the full roster, Bravo went for talent in the kitchen as opposed to talent for drama, so expect a nail-biter of a season. Check out the complete list of 18 cheftestants who’ll duke it out:

After seven seasons, "Top Chef" tries to revamp it up with an All-Stars edition. 18 faces from previous seasons are brought back to the kitchen to fight each other and win the title of the ultimate Top Chef. The first look of who these great talents are has been released by TV Guide.
From season 1, there are Tiffani Faison and Steven Asprinio, the former of which almost won the competition against winner Harold Dieterle. Second season's personality Marcel Vigneron will join his former peer Elia Aboumrad. From season 3, Casey Thompson and Dale Levitski would put their friendship to rest for a battle in the kitchen against Texan Tre Wilcox.
Richard Blais from season 4 is reunited with Antonia Lofaso, Spike Mendelsohn and Dale Talde while fan favorite Fabio Viviani from season 5 is taking a second chance along with Jamie Lauren and Carla Hall. Representing 6th season are Jennifer Carroll and Mike Isabella...

The rumors are true. So if the "Top Chef: DC" finale annoyed you as much as it did most everyone else, you'll be pretty thrilled to know that the next season of Bravo's culinary competition is bringing back your favorite alums from the first seven outings.
During the "DC" reunion, in which the case of the stolen pea puree was finally settled (not guilty!), Andy Cohen confirmed that Season 8 will bring the series back to New York for "Top Chef: All Stars."
The cast of 18 alums includes plenty of fan favorites and a few baddies. Let's break them down:
Tiffani Faison, Season 1, San Francisco
Stephen Asprinio, Season 1, San Francisco
Elia Aboumrad, Season 2, Los Angeles
Marcel Vigneron, Season 2, Los Angeles
Casey Thompson, Season 3, Miami
Tre Wilcox, Season 3, Miami
Dale Levitsky, Season 3, Miami
Richard Blais, Season 4, Chicago
Antonia Lofaso, Season 4, Chicago
Dale Talde, Season 4, Chicago
Spike Mendelsohn, Season 4, Chicago
Carla Hall, Season 5, New York

If rumors are to be believed, Bravo is secretly planning an "All-Stars" season of their recently Emmy-winning "Top Chef" franchise. And though the network won't comment on the matter, a dozen competitors from previous seasons have been spotted with camera crews in New York.
Eater reports that all of the production isn't for a one-off special either, like previous "All-Star" efforts. It will be a full series following the format of regular "Top Chef," only with people we already love and don't have to spend several episodes getting to know.
This would be welcome news any time but comes as a particular relief this week after the lame and completely unjustified kick-off of Tiffany Derry, one week before final four jets off to Singapore. (Derry, if you were questioning the pertinence of this tangent, is among the cheftestants spotted on the New York set.)
Now we don't pretend to know...

The next season of Top Chef may be a full all-star season, as contestants from the previous seven seasons are currently filming in New York City. They include Spike Mendelsohn, Marcel Vigneron, Richard Blais, Fabio Viviani, Carla Hall, Angelo Sosa, Tiffany Derry, Michael Isabella, Dale Talde, Tiffani Faison, and Stephen Asprinio. Could this just be another all-star special like the show did at the start of season three? Eater NY was told that "this is...
