After 31 seasons of critiquing dance techniques alongside his fellow judges, Len Goodman is set to hold up his final paddle in next week’s Dancing With the Stars finale. TV Insider chatted with the pro dancers who competed in the semi-finals to get their reactions on this historic news. “I’ve known Len since I was born,” says Mark Ballas, who made his DWTS debut in Season 5 back in 2007. “He used to train my parents [Corky Ballas and Shirley Ballas]. I think there’s a photo somewhere of him holding me when I was two or three-years-old. He’s tough, honest, and someone who strives for giving constructive criticism. He’s a legend.” “It got me in the ‘feels,’” shared Emma Slater, who says that Goodman’s announcement caught her off guard. Like Ballas, her history with Goodman pre-dates DWTS. “Len used to judge me back in England. He’s a British icon.

Julianne and Derek Hough have been dancing ever since they could walk. "Our home videos are pretty self-evident that these kids loved to shake, rattle and roll," their dad, Bruce Hough, tells People. Now the siblings, who gained fame on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, are doing just that on their summer Move Live on Tour, selling out venues across the country. But as Julianne, 25, and Derek, 29, recount in People’s new cover story, the success they've found on the dance floor came at a hefty price. When Julianne was just 10 and Derek was 13, they left their sheltered life in Utah,...

Dancing with the Stars Season 14 Latest Cast Rumors: Gma's Robin Roberts to Dance?
The Dancing with the Stars Season 14 rumor mill is finally in motion. Just one pointed blog post on the fact that there were hardly any rumors or cast leaks for us to chew on, and within hours, a dam burst. Thanks to TMZ, the web is now flooded by cast rumors, with these names widely circulating:
Jack Wagner Sherri Shepherd Melissa Gilbert Maria Menounos
There are some other names being tossed around, but these are quietly circulating: Gavin DeGraw, Pee-Wee Herman and Suzanne Somers.
I am going to throw another name into the ring just for fun: Robin Roberts, co-host of Good Morning America. Fans will recall her dancing with pro brothers Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy during the New York press junket after the Season 11 winner was crowned. Robin loves Dancing with the Stars, and she loves Maks.

And the Dancing with the Stars Season 12 star and pro “pairings” are out! This morning we learned not only which pro dancers will compete this season, but how the stars and pros have been paired up. The following couples will be vying for the Season 12 Mirror Ball trophy:
Sugar Ray Leonard & Anna Trebunskaya Kendra Wilkinson & Louis Van Amstel Kirstie Alley & Maks Chmerkovskiy Chris Jericho & Cheryl Burke Hines Ward & Kym Johnson Wendy Williams & Tony Dovolani Ralph Macchio &Karina Smirnoff Chelsea Kane & Mark Ballas Romeo & Chelsie Hightower "Psycho" Mike Catherwood & Lacey Schwimmer Petra Nemcova & Dimitry Chaplin

All was quiet on the Dancing with the Stars front for about a day in the aftermath of the Tea Partier and failed Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell news. (I’m still choking on my tea over that one.) But today we have a brand new contestant rumor. This one involves scary movie mom Faye Dunaway, best known for her title role in the film Mommie Dearest. Perez Hilton reports that she is a lock for Season 12. At age 70, Faye follows in the footsteps (literally) of former cougar contestants, Florence Henderson and Cloris Leachman.
I like this rumor not only because it’s from Perez, who is typically a reliable source, but also because it’s nice to see all generations represented on the show. My guess for her pro partner would be Corky Ballas. Not only was Corky paired with Florence and Cloris, he has been vocal in...

It's that time again, time to speculate on the next season of Dancing with the Stars! The rumor mill has been a-swirl recently with plenty of fodder for the TV bloggers and Dwts fan sites to feast upon. I've noted a common theme among some of the female names being floated around... ladies with drug-addled baggage. Most likely it's the handlers of these 'stars' who are pushing for an invite from the show rather than the other way around. Imagine the benefits that the 12 week disciplined and rigorous program of dance training could bring to these women personally, physically, and professionally, if they could endure it. On tonight’s Live to Dance we watched 6 acts compete for the last time in their quest to win the title of “best dance act in America” and $500,000 in prize money next week. America’s vote from last week was revealed to be Kendall Glover, the only soloist in the competition. This was my big problem from last week and the show just smoothly glazed over it. Host Andrew Greenberg called Kendall with the news some time after last week’s show. We can only assume he called her the morning after so that she had as much time to rehearse as the other five acts. And amazingly, in our information age, this was kept a pretty good secret all week!
Tonight’s outcome hinges only on America’s votes, so even though we have the experts’ commentary and awarding of gold or red stars, this does not technically count; well,...

View the original post X Factor: Derek Hough’s stepmother is ‘looking forward’ to meeting Cheryl Cole on Unreality TV
Derek Hough’s stepmother has revealed that she can’t wait to meet his new girlfriend Cheryl Cole.
The pair have kept the public guessing for months about whether or not they are dating, however photos in yesterday’s Mirror have shown the professional dancer climbing on top of the X Factor judge and kissing her tanned and toned stomach. It certainly looks more than platonic to us!
54-year-old Debra, who is married to Derek’s father Bruce, wouldn’t comment on the pair’s relationship status, but she did tell Now magazine that she is a huge fan of Chez’s tunes.
She said:
“It hasn’t been convenient to meet her yet but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve listened to her music and I’m a big fan.

Scores don't always matter on 'Dancing With the Stars.' (Just ask Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolini, who, despite being ranked second from the top last week, got the boot.)
Still, with only six couples remaining in the competition, low-ranking teen activist Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas could exit the show tonight.
Ballas' father, Corky Ballas, who was paired with Florence Henderson this season, isn't surprised that his talented son has lasted this long in the competition. Sure, he's biased, but Corky knows Mark's a great teacher.
"Votes play a huge part on the show," Corky said. "Bristol has amazing flow and technical footwork. The voting's keeping her in there. She doesn't get emotional. She's cool as a cucumber."

The irony of Tuesday night's "Dancing With the Stars" elimination was rich.
After landing in the bottom alongside former front-runner Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough and Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke, TV mom Florence Henderson and her partner Corky Ballas were sent packing. The theme for this week's dance performances was TV theme songs, and naturally Henderson danced the tango to the song from "The Brady Bunch," the popular TV show she's famous for starring in.
The judges weren't impressed with Henderson's Monday night performance, saying that the twosome started out classically and beautifully but killed it before finishing. But Henderson and Ballas weren't ranked the lowest. They scored 21 out of 30 from judges the night before.

It was the biggest "Wtf" moment on 'Dancing With the Stars' since Kate Gosselin danced to 'Paparazzi': Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas, who scored a mere 18 points for their performance on Monday, were called safe on this week's results show.
Gasps of shock and amazement erupted from the backstage press viewing area when Palin and Ballas advanced to week 6. Even Ballas had predicted the pair would be standing under the dreaded red light, but they, along with Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer, the second lowest-scoring duo, were called safe in the first few minutes of last night's show.
Instead, lovable 'Brady Bunch' mom Florence Henderson and partner Corky Ballas got the boot.

Despite having the lowest scores this week on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ Kyle Massey and Bristol ‘The Pistol’ Palin were saved from elimination!
We gotta hand it to 76-year-old Florence Henderson for staying in the dancing game so long! She managed to make it four toe-tapping weeks, beating out fellow contestants David Hasslehoff, Margaret Cho and Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, before she took her last bow on the results show Oct. 19.
Florence and partner Corky Ballas‘ elimination isn’t a complete shock, but we do feel bad she was canned after her Oct. 18 performance Dtws judge, Len Goodman called “Her best dance of the competition.” Could it be her over-sexed image was too much for America to handle?
What we’re scratching our heads about is how the bottom two scorers were reprieved from elimination. Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin were considered likely to wind up in the bottom three after their underwhelming performances.

Bristol Palin found herself in a hairy situation Monday on Dancing with the Stars, literally and otherwise. Her gorilla suit performance landed her at the bottom of the pack.
Palin and Mark Ballas earned just 18 points, putting them in last place, behind Kyle Massey, who scored a mediocre 20, and Florence Henderson, who ended up with 21.
As expected, one of those three was eliminated last night? But which one ...
Bristol is safe! So is Kyle! Instead, Florence Henderson, who outscored both (albeit narrowly) was told she earned the lowest number of votes and is henceforth out.

She says, "I’ve worked in television for the past 50 years and this is the best-produced show I’ve ever been on. I hope it inspires people to move and dance and get up and enjoy life."
R&B star Brandy is now the red-hot favourite to win the TV challenge outright with her professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Time for Mrs. Brady to go home. "Dancing with the Stars" said goodbye to duo Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas.

Florence Henderson became the latest contestant to be eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars" on Tuesday night. We took our cameras backstage to capture the cast's reaction to losing another one of their stars. "I've always enjoyed working hard, but this was hard work with a great teacher," Florence told us, referring to her partner Corky Ballas. "I just loved the experience, every minute of it." Florence will clearly be missed, not only by her dance partner but also by every cast member we interviewed backstage. "It's so weird because we're in a competition but we really care about the cast," said Brandy. "We've all bonded in some special, unique way." Bristol Palin may have formed the closest bond with Florence, saying, "Florence was my best friend throughout this whole thing." Florence had this message for her fans: "I thank you so much for voting for us and keeping us...

After earning a mere 18 out of a possible 30 points on Monday, Bristol Palin seemed like a goner for sure from Dancing with the Stars but America didn’t seem to mind her jive (or that silly monkey suit). So who went home instead? Find out after the jump.
It was a lot to ask of Florence Henderson: Dance a tough tango to the Brady Bunch theme song. Though the veteran TV actress did her best to perform Corky Ballas’ herky-jerky choreography to the well-worn “Here’s a story…”, the number just didn’t fly well with the judges or...

"Dancing with the Stars" has delivered one unexpected elimination. Coming to the result show with the lowest score from the judges, it seemed that it was time for Bristol Palin to pack her dancing shoes. Instead, it was the show's oldest competitor Florence Henderson who was getting the boot on Tuesday night, October 18.
The 76-year-old actress actually earned a personal best with 21 out of 30 for her Monday night, October 18 performance. Dancing tango to the theme of "The Brady Bunch", she was praised by judge Len Goodman for delivering her best dance so far. Carrie Ann Inaba said, "You were doing moves just like all the younger people," while Bruno Tonioli noted that she started beautifully.
Upon learning about her elimination, Florence said, "I have been in television for over 50 years and I have to say, in all honesty, that ['Dancing with the Stars'] is one of the best produced shows I have ever been on.

It was a surprise elimination on "Dancing with the Stars" this week for the contestant was not the lowest scored by the judges. It was predicted to be either Bristol Palin or Kyle Massey who will go home but it turned out "The Brady Bunch" star Florence Henderson was the one cut off due to low number of votes from the audience.
"I have been in television for over 50 years and I have to say, in all honesty, that ['Dancing with the Stars'] is one of the best produced shows I have ever been on. I truly mean that. It's the best - the best crew, the best hair, makeup, costumes, even the judges are the best. Brooke [Burke], Tom [Bergeron], the music and most of all this darling man, Corky Ballas," Henderson said after learning her fate.
Bergeron replied, "I have loved the childlike glee on your face every week." Henderson then added, "I've loved this show since it began.

Bristol Palin found herself in a hairy situation Monday night on Dancing with the Stars. The contestant - who celebrated her 20th birthday the same night - and partner Mark Ballas sported furry monkey suits during part of their jive routine, which failed to impress judges. Dancing to the Monkees theme song on a night of TV-themed performances, Palin and Ballas earned just 18 points, landing them in last place, behind Kyle Massey, who scored 20, and Florence Henderson, who scored 21. Will Palin pack up her Dancing shoes and head back to Alaska? Keep reading to find out who was kicked off during Tuesday's elimination show.

Stepping out to celebrate her 20th birthday, Bristol Palin was spotted at Thee Mint bar in Los Angeles last night (October 18).
The birthday girl donned a leggy black dress as she cheered on her “Dancing with the Stars” partner Mark Ballas, who was performing at the venue.
Earlier in the evening, Bristol and Mark competed in gorilla suits as they danced to “Hey Hey We’re the Monkees.”
But the judges weren’t hip to the routine and scored Palin and Ballas at the bottom of the heap. The score breakdown looked like this:
Brandy & Maks Chmerkovskiy: 27
Jennifer Grey & Derek Hough:: 25
Kurt Warner & Anna Trebunskaya: 24
Rick Fox & Cheryl Burke: 24
Audrina Patridge & Tony Dovolani: 23

Reigning dancing queen Jennifer Grey was unseated for the second time this season, when Brandy earned top honors at Dancing with the Stars Monday night. It was TV theme week, and Brandy's energetic quickstep with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy to the Friends theme mirrored the duo's growing bond. The judges dished out straight nines to the new friends. Still, Grey and partner Derek Hough proved that, despite falling to the No. 2 spot in week five,...

Dancing With the Stars may be the biggest show on TV.
This fact made for an ironic theme last night, as the dancers cut rugs to theme songs from other, less popular programs! Yes, The Hills theme song was even one of them.
By the end of Monday night, the two tandems you'd expect were 1-2 in points, albeit in a different order than last week, while three couples look to be in jeopardy on Tuesday.
Just Friends: Dancing to that show's theme song, Brandy and Maks ruled the night.
The often-feuding Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovsky lead the pack thanks to their quickstep set to the Friends theme song. Maybe they'll actually get along after this. Total: 27.
Favorites Jennifer Gray and Derek Hough also sparred in rehearsal, but fared well dancing to ... Married With Children. Not their best, but they have high standards. Total: 25.

Last week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.
As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.
"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)
"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight.

Brandy has finally stepped up her game on week five of "Dancing with the Stars". Delivering a quickstep to the theme from "Friends" with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Monday night, October 18, the "Have You Ever?" singer managed to impress all three judges and earned herself the highest score of the night with a total of 27 out of 30.
After watching the 31-year-old's performance, judge Len Goodman enthused he was so impressed with her routine and added, "It was full of energy, it was a little bit sassy here and there. It was without a doubt your best dance." Similarly impressed was Bruno Tonioli who joked, "I broke my pen, it was going so fast!" Additionally, Carrie Ann Inaba praised the bond the singer made with her partner.

"Dancing with the Stars" brought TV favorites to life on Monday night as the cast of the ABC hit reality competition choreographed their acts to the tune of classic TV theme songs. After a retrospective of the first several weeks of the show, Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the first to dance. The pair performed the quickstep to the theme song from "Friends" to rave reviews and a score of 27. "It was, without doubt, your best dance," judge Len Goodman complimented, while judge Bruno Tonioli said, "You found the right formula because I'm telling you, it's working." Iconic TV mom Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas tangoed to, appropriately, the tune from "The Brady Bunch," earning a score of 21. Bruno wasn't impressed, critiquing, "Why go into a kind of rag doll mode?" Judge Carrie Ann Inaba disagreed, telling Florence, "You're a sexy senior and you worked it," while Len took it even further,...

We have to admit we were a little embarrassed to watch Mrs. Brady bump and grind on the dance floor last night during week four of Dancing with the Stars. After all, she's America's mom. And while she may have been the first TV housewife to wear sexy nightgowns, she was still the wholesome mother of six to us.
We may have used those "Not Appropriate" signs just a little bit more than Corky and Florence's kids, Mark and Barbara.
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas' sultry Rumba performed to the Beatles' "Yesterday" landed them, once again, in the middle of the pack with 35 points.
