It’s about time! Thirteen years have gone by since the release of Final Destination 5, but we’ve been hearing rumblings that another sequel was on the way for years. A while back, Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, came on board to produce the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise alongside Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry. Back in September of 2022, we learned that the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie, would be directing Final Destination 6. Last October, it was revealed that the film will be called Final Destination: Bloodlines… and now cinematographer Christian Sebaldt has shared an image that indicates Final Destination: Bloodlines will be heading into production soon! Earlier, it had been reported that Sony had made a deal with Apple Films in which the studio got to distribute two high-profile movies globally before getting settled at its home on the Apple TV+ app. Sony arose as the victor in a bidding war for the two films — Wolfs, starring Oceans trilogy buddies George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and Project Artemis, which features Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum (although now it is being reported that the title may change). The acquisitions mirror a similar distributing deal Sony has with Apple for Ridley Scott‘s recent historical epic, Napoleon, which gave the movie a release on November 22 with a 45-day theatrical window.
According to Deadline, Sony has now found the dates that the studio plans to release the films and start their theatrical window. Project Artemis is now slated to hit theaters on July 12, 2024, while Wolfs is now ready to...

Sony has dated an untitled Apple Original Films production starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum for July 12. Formerly known as “Project Artemis,” it’s set to screen in premium large formats with Columbia Pictures distributing.
Meanwhile, the George Clooney-Brad Pitt starrer “Wolfs,” also from Apple Original Films, will open Sept. 20 in IMAX and premium large formats. Written and directed by Jon Watts, “Wolfs” follows two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job, and co-stars Amy Ryan.
Directed by Greg Berlanti, the former “Project Artemis” project co-stars Jim Rash, Ray Romano, Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg and Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson. Set against the 1960s space race, the currently untitled film is written by Rose Gilroy. Johansson serves as producer under her These Pictures banner, and Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn produce alongside Johansson for These Pictures. Sarah Schechter produces for Berlanti Productions. Robert Dohrmann executive produces.

Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing the sixth film in the Final Destination franchise with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Craig Perry – and entertainment industry scooper Daniel Richtman just revealed the plot synopsis for the new film, along with some character descriptions and the title, which isn’t going to be Final Destination 6. This one is going by the title Final Destination: Bloodlines, which is kind of bummer because Bloodlines is a very over-used subtitle in the horror world. To name just a few, we’ve previously gotten Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, Tremors 5: Bloodlines, and Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.
But there is good reason for the Bloodlines subtitle, because family bloodlines are important to the story. Jeffrey Reddick – who wrote the initial screenplay for the original Final Destination and contributed to Final Destination 2 – has previously said that...

Thirteen months ago, Jeffrey Reddick – who wrote the initial screenplay for the original Final Destination and contributed to Final Destination 2 – said that the upcoming sequel Final Destination 6 would shake up the formula of the franchise. Now Reddick has been asked by Collider to clarify what he meant by that… and while he had to tiptoe around spoilers while giving his answer, he did say that the film will be an interesting expansion of the Final Destination universe.
Reddick told Collider that “you can’t get away from the cheating death and death coming after you part of it because that’s what makes it a Final Destination film” but this one “doesn’t just kind of add another layer. Usually there’s a new layer every film where it’s like, ‘Oh, well, this can save you or this can save you.’ This film dives into it in such a unique way,...

What can we expect from the upcoming Final Destination 6? Speaking with Collider, franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick has offered up an intriguing (and mysterious) tease.
Building upon comments he made to Dread Central last year, Reddick suggests – without saying too much – that Final Destination 6 will add a whole new layer to the franchise.
“This film dives into the film in such a unique way that it attacks it from a different angle so you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, there’s an amazing setup and then there’s gonna be one wrinkle that can potentially save you all that you have to kind of make a moral choice about or do to solve it.’ There’s an expansion of...

Twelve years have gone by since the last time a new Final Destination movie was released – which is way too long without a new entry in an awesome franchise that had a nice “one every three years” pattern going on for a while. Thankfully, Final Destination 6 is in the works. Last September, it was announced that the film will be directed by the duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie. Now it has come to our attention that Final Destination franchise producer Craig Perry has teased that a standout death sequence in the film will be set in a tattoo / piercing parlor!
Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing Final Destination 6 with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Perry.

The revolution will be played on a violin in “Chevalier,” the upcoming period drama based on the life of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. On Friday, Searchlight Pictures released a new recording of one of Bologne’s compositions, which will be heard in the film when it reaches theaters next month.
The single is Bologne’s “Violin Concerto in G Major, Op. 8, No. 2: I. Allegro,” arranged by Kris Bowers and performed by Bowers, violinist Randall Goosby, and the London Contemporary Orchestra. The concerto is available to stream on Spotify now.
Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“Elvis”) stars in “Chevalier” as Bologne, who was born on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in 1745. His father was a French plantation owner and his mother was an enslaved African woman. Peep Show, the long-running British comedy starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb, is getting another shot in the U.S.
FX has ordered a pilot for this latest remake attempt written by Atlanta and What We Do In The Shadows exec producer Stefani Robinson.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. has been on quite the biopic tip of late. For the record, I'm not complaining. Since breaking out in "Waves," Harrison has proven his mettle as one of the most exhilarating young actors working today. Watching him in anything is a total treat because no matter the project, no matter the character, Harrison always brings an exciting, earnest perspective.
After appearing as B.B. King in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" — and before transforming into the "Radiant Child" himself, Jean-Michel Basquiat, for "Samo Lives" — Harrison is set to star in the classical music biopic, "Chevalier." The film has already garnered fresh interest after debuting a trailer in November, so here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming film and more.

The first trailer for “Chevalier” is here, and it showcases a life of extreme musical talent – and extreme hardship.
The musical biopic from Searchlight Pictures will premiere in U.S. theaters on April 7, 2023.
Based on the true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, the film stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. as the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, who—despite mounting bigotry and racism—rises to improbable heights in French society as a prodigy violinist, composter and fencer. But, a steamy affair with a French noblewoman and falling out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court ultimately leads to the Chevalier’s downfall.

Inspired by the true story of Joseph Bologne, an 18th-century composer, “Chevalier” breaks barriers with a modern musical twist.
Kelvin Harrison Jr. stars as Chevalier de Saint-Georges, who was the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner. Bologne (Harrison Jr.) rises in French high society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, catching the eye of Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court. However, as the French Revolution mounts, Bologne’s alliance shifts as the Queen’s court deems him a “party trick” and a “pet” playing the violin.
Samara Weaving, Minnie Driver, Marton Csokas, and Alex Fitzalan also star in the Searchlight Pictures film.
“Chevalier” is directed by Stephen Williams, from a script written by Stefani Robinson. Robinson, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Dianne McGunigle also serve as producers.
Kris Bowers composed the original score, with musical performances produced and arranged by Michael Abels.

Here’s some awesome news to end the week with: eleven years after the release of Final Destination 5, a new sequel is almost ready to head into production – and Final Destination 6 has just found its directors! The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that the new sequel, which is expected to be released through the HBO Max streaming service, is going to be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
The duo of Lipovsky and Stein previously directed the 2018 film Freaks (starring Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern) and the 2019 live-action Kim Possible movie. Lipovsky also directed Dead Rising: Watchtower and Leprechaun: Origins on his own… but I’ll try not to hold that Leprechaun movie against him.
Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far from Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, is producing Final Destination 6 with Dianne McGunigle, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, and Final Destination franchise producer Craig Perry.

As an update today, THR reports that Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) have been brought on board to direct Final Destination 6, with the plot under wraps.
Speaking with Dread Central, Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick recently teased what we can expect, suggesting the new movie will change up the classic formula.
Reddick teased, “I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every...

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
FX's turn at the Television Critics Association paved the way for some announcements about new and returning series.
We already reported on the casting of Elisabeth Moss on The Veil.
We also learned that American Horror Story Season 11 will receive its premiere in fall 2022.
There had been some questions about whether the series would return this year, given the lack of updates.
However, we should expect more concrete details about the big season in the coming weeks, including casting details and a confirmed premiere date.
The last season featured two stories -- Red Tide and Death Valley.
The former won praise from longtime fans, but the latter struggled to find its footing.
Spinoff American Horror Stories currently airs Thursdays on FX on Hulu.
As someone critical of the first season, the second is a breath of fresh air.

The end is nigh for FX’s “Atlanta.” The fourth and final season of Donald Glover’s critically acclaimed comedy series will premiere on Sept. 15.
The network also released a trailer for Season 4, which you can watch above. In the trailer, Earn (Glover) and his friends have returned to their hometown after touring Europe and now must determine: has Atlanta changed, or have they?
The trailer offers glimpses at what’s in store for the season, though with “Atlanta” it’s always hard to tell exactly what direction the show will take us. Earn and Van (Zazie Beetz) appear to be working on their relationship after some discord in Europe, and Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles (Brian Tyree Henry) is continuing to advance his rap career stateside. Lakeith Stanfield is also back as Darius, making as trusty (yet confusing) a sidekick as ever.

The fourth and final season of “Atlanta,” the comedy series from creator, showrunner and star Donald Glover, will premiere with two episodes on Sept. 15 at 10 p.m. before streaming on Hulu the next day. The news was announced during FX’s presentation at the 2022 virtual TCA Press Tour.
Season 3 was a controversial installment of an already discourse-generating show, especially for its several standalone episodes, such as opener “Three Slaps,” which told a self-contained story about characters with no ties to the main plot.
“We know you hated them. It’s fine,” Donald Glover laughed during the panel. “I’m really proud of those episodes.”
“Those episodes felt, for a lot of people, out of the way we do things. But for me, it’s kind of like we’ve always done stuff like that,” added Stephen Glover, Donald’s brother who also writes and executive produces for the series. “In...
